Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup Of Complaining | Troper WallYou know what they say about plagiarism never happening just once? In light of recent experiences I decided to browse the tropers edit history and found a bunch of other plagiarism as well. I think this will have to be reported to the mods on top of being cleaned up. It seems that they are lifting numerous plagiarised texts from various websites and adding them to trivia pages. This seems to be happening in almost every edit, and they are editing quite a lot, meaning that they've potentially added a lot of plagiarised content to the site. All the examples I have here are just from the past two days.
This edit they made on The Blob:
- Disabled Character, Disabled Actor: The partially-dissolved-but-still-alive soldier was performed by stuntman Noble Craig, a triple-amputee who lost both legs, an arm, and an eye while serving in The Vietnam War.
Was directly copied and pasted from the film's IMDB trivia page here:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094761/trivia?ref_=tt_trv_trv#
This addition to the Trivia / Buffy The Vampire Slayer S 7 E 13 The Killer In Me page:
- Written-In Infirmity: It's obvious in the first couple of scenes, that Sarah Michelle Gellar is suffering a cold. Her voice is hoarse and movements slow, adding a scarf and mug within the dialogue was probably a nod to her feeling unwell without writing it into the script or making it overly obvious to those who miss it.
Was again directly copied and pasted from the Trivia IMDB Page here:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0533504/trivia
And this edit to the Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure:
- Channel Hop: Stephen Herek stated that shopping the film for distributors was difficult; Warner Bros. wanted to produce it within a US$10 million budget, but could not figure out how to fund it.
Was directly copied and pasted from Wikepedia here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_%26_Ted%27s_Excellent_Adventure
I've also found numerous other examples that look to have been lifted from various wiki's and pages too.
Edited by Atlantis1930Their is an insane amount of copyright infringement here.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."So, according to this thread, Fighteer has suspended the troper.
Edited by gjjones He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.Do mods or devs have access to the full edit history of a troper? WilliamShakesman edited extensively enough that their edit history cuts off at June 4, 2021, and they've probably added plagiarized content before that.
Edited by homogenizedAnd this is small potatoes compared to everything else, but they also add blank folders to pages a lot, mostly on Funny. The Nostalgia Critic 2021 Episodes. Not as bad but still annoying.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Updating to note that the troper in question has been fully bounced due to ban evasion. I also raised Homogenized's concerns about the edit history in the forums.
Cutlisted the page.
Recap.Chinatown, as brought up in the Recap cleanup thread, is word-for-word the same as the Wikipedia summary.
The page was created by William Shakesman.
