Again, I don't think they're aiming for a full biopic here? If it's anything like Costa's other projects, it's probably just a short film.
Hmm OK,wonder what ground they'll cover in a short film then
New theme music also a boxI recall a short film Vincent D'Onofrio made where he played Orson Welles. It was just one glimpse into his life told through a scene rehearsal. Costa might be doing a short film like that. Just a little mini-drama of sorts.
D'onofrio later played Orson Welles in Ed Wood.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I think Ed Wood was before the short film, actually. I do know that Maurice La Marche dubbed over D'Onofrio's lines in Ed Wood, though. The only time he played Welles WITHOUT it being a parody, I believe.
I think nothing put it into perspective as much as Zelda Williams's reaction to the footage did.
Great. Reading Zelda's reaction officially made me feel like a butthole...
I’ll walk back some of that comment following Diana’s clarification, though. The framing of it is still off to me, but it’s better if it’s not (as I assumed from all the comments screaming GIVE HIM A BIOPIC) a pitch to the studio system for $$$.
Zelda’s reaction definitely saddened me though; people truly forget manners on the internet.

Yeah, same. Guess I was too caught up in the performance to think about how this would look to his family.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonI was thinking that a short film about William's time as a street performer isn't an impossibly
New theme music also a boxIt'd be very bizarre if it was a pitch. You can't just pitch a biopic, you have to actually get authorization and clearance from the estate of the subject. You can make unauthorized biopics, sure, but those never do well.
Not really that black and white. You have flops like that weird Bowie biopic that couldn’t use any of his music, but the Queen certainly never signed off on critical and awards darling The Crown (2016).
Ahh, that's an excellent point there, didn't think of that.
> You have flops like that weird Bowie biopic that couldn’t use any of his music,
I'm now picturing a bowie biopic where they could only use the gnome song
New theme music also a boxI keep getting The Conjuring, Insidious, Malevolent, and Sinister mixed up.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.maybe that says a lot about the conjuring that the overall premise is near identical is several other movies is rather uninspired
New theme music also a boxWhile we're on the subject of scary movies for the spooky season, I'd just like to say that I found this sequence from The Empty Man to be rather inspired (spoiler; no jump scare; no gore).
The movie itself is... not everyone's cup of tea, but it certainly doesn't lack for ambition. It has a lot of ideas and is best described as 3-4 movies in one:
- A Survival Horror Prolonged Prologue set in Bhutan, with a light sprinkling of Religious Horror drawn from Tibetan Buddhist imagery. The strongest part of the movie overall, and I kinda wish it'd been its own full-length movie.
- A supernatural/slasher/urban legend second act that makes up the most of the promo material. I've seen it described as "perfunctory" and "the weakest part of the movie", but I thought it's fine for what it is.
- A Mind Screw third act where we learn about the nature of the titular baddie. I honestly feel like a lot of the cult parts drag out a lot and doesn't maintain the tension too well. But when it's time for the payoff, it delivers.
It's something you'd get when you give $16 million to a first-time director with a lot of big ideas and tell them to swing for the fences, and that's not really something we see a lot in the tentpole-dominated Hollywood landscape. I'm not even sure if I really liked it as a movie — it feels a little too strung-out and uneven to be something I could enjoy in one continuous sitting. But it's well-acted, has great scene direction, offers some daring twists and has some genuinely Creepy Awesome sequences.
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)How does this stuff even happen after The Crow I have no idea.
The accident with The Crow happened years ago and its they forgot about, this is sadly a wake up call to people working with firearms, even blank rounds kill

New theme music also a boxThere are reports that some of the crew had walked off the set due to unsafe working conditions shortly before the accident.
Random thought: amidst all the attempts to either reboot or continue franchises that became massively popular in the 1980's, Back to the Future has yet to see that happen. I wonder why that is.
It hasn't happened because Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale have actually directly forbid Universal from doing so, and shockingly, they've listened.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonJeez, they must have some strong clout if that's the case.
I would only be content with a Robin Williams biopic if his daughter or his family was on board or involved in some way,as it is she's not so it comes across as a little tasteless.
