I don't see why they don't just port Maverick Hunter by now. It's been 16 years, what could possibly be the issue at this point?
Capcom wants us to forget about that game since it failed to take off into a full on reboot.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. There might also be exclusivity contracts we know nothing about
Forever liveblogging the AvengersBut would an X reboot work in The New '20s?
Much like Pokémon is often maligned as a "cockfight sim", remove the connection to the Classic (and Zero) series and this series could be misconstrued as "Police Brutality: The Game"; especially with how contentions policing has become over the past 8 or so years. Granted, X's personal attitude that he develops midway through is that War Is Hell, but apparently is so exposed that he becomes numb to it.
Then again, Bocaj's post on the prior page makes me wonder whether the whole attitude was a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy, on the part of both the Hunters (and humans) and Independent Reploids. The premise is also interesting considering the attitudes of the latter half of The New '10s.
And now I'm starting to draw parallels between Sigma and Anakin Skywalker, though he played Sidious' role in X4...
Yes, I can imagine how the conversation went.
"You fools, did you really think we at SonyTM " would allow you to port your games on our home console? You should've read the fine prints, asshole!
But seriously, if Ghosts 'n Goblins can get a remake for the 3rd time, why not Megaman X?
One of the tricky things is that we only ever see X and Zero's perspectives in the very most urgent and dire missions. The games have very little inclination to show us how other Maverick Hunters operate, or what the day-to-day is like with them.
I think that would be another layer that gives the X series some depth. Explore the war between humans, reploids, and mavericks and muddy the water until X is forced to rethink who is in the right or wrong. Maybe in the end the worldview is flipped and X and Zero will have to defend the mavericks from police brutality.
Hmm, those sound a tad familiar.
Where there's life, there's hope. The issue of X series is that it tries to have a continues storytelling but it add stuff that was never mention before which make things harder to feel empathy or care enough.
like a good remake will mention repliforce before, show Iris in X-3 or 4, mention red and so on so one can feel thing are one linear narrative.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"There's also the fact to consider that a lot of mavericks are driven insane from a digital virus.
Like there's an argument to be made that the Sigma the hunters knew before meeting Zero died the moment the virus infected him.
On the flip side, a lot of Reploids are literal war machines so showing mercy at the wrong time could actually be a very fatal mistake.
Like X and Zero show mercy and the bosses NEVER take it.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Notable too that the fear of a maverick uprising in MMZ was entirely justified. The very next game had Elpizo trying to claim the Dark Elf for himself and MMZ3 ends with a fight between Zero and Omega so catastrophic that Neo Arcadia, the last city, is destroyed.
Neo Arcadia gets destroyed in Zero 4, thanks to a Kill Sat
Elphizo definitely doesn't give a shit about civilian casualties.
Like even if Neo-Arcadia is bull shit about their definitions of Mavericks, he definitely counts as one.
Like there's a theory that Dr. Weil grew up during all the constant maverick uprisings and that's why he has such hatred for Reploids.
Granted, he is pretty worshipful of Omega for being the God of destruction, and hates humans for his punishment after starting one of the most devastating wars ever.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Ironically (?), Elpizo was basically forced into being a maverick by Neo Arcadia's wacky 'label anyone inconvenient a maverick' policies.
He tripped assbackwards into forbidden knowledge, the kangaroo court issues a warrant for his arrest for high treason and maverickness, and he runs away from Neo Arcadia with basically no option but to join the Resistance and become a 'Maverick'
Deciding that he should destroy Neo Arcadia in response to that was on him but you can't say he was randomly an asshole out of nowhere.
Of course, it was the Eight Gentle Judges that issued the warrant and they're not not corrupt. Zero really did the justice system a favor with them.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI do find it telling that he also jumps on a Reploid supremacist ideology despite being friends with Ciel.
I did forget about those tracks because they are pretty JP only.
Man, the Mega verse courts are so corrupt and incompetent that Dr. Weil's creations are able to preside over his trial.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. Its the kind of odd situation where the city's entire supreme court was all built by one dude.
You'd think it would be a conflict of interest but maybe X wasn't great at creating a government.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersIn a way, it's the problem of past ages carried forward - you don't want to live in a world built by one person, be it Light or X.
The Judges were not corrupt, them being Weil's creations is why they went easy on his sentencing is pretty much it.
They did not become evil until Weil modified them on his return after Copy X revoked his exile.
Isn't it already pretty corrupt to not punish the man who almost killed the planet with the most devastating war with a more fitting punishment because he created all 8 of the judges?
Like even putting aside that aside, they are still responsible for passing down Copy X's judgements on innocent Reploids to save on energy.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. He got inflicted with an undying body which he is very bitter and petty about. That this is the “light” punishment says more about what else they planned on doing.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Just shoot the bastard and get it over with honestly.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. The undying body was human mob justice apparently
Forever liveblogging the AvengersPretty impressive mob to pull that off.
Trans rights are human rights.Maybe it was a mob of mad scientists?
The only three human jobs we know exist for sure in Neo Arcadia is scientist, journalist, and refugee

They tried, sadly. It's unlikely they'll try again, though it would be fun if they played it right.
