Some people think that the current image could be improved upon by changing it, such as to this before and after picture:

While I'm all for One Piece pics, I think the current one works fine.

Yeah, that thread is recent. It's also locked.

This is my first major Image Pickin thing, so I'm not aware on the challenging procedure.

Yeah we just had a long discussion about this and ultimately decided that there was no reason to change the current pic. Let's just leave this alone.

I support a change. The current image is just too understated.

I have to agree with wanderlustwarrior here. I never liked the current picture. Without context, it simply doesn't feel... appropriate to me. The proposed picture is in my opinion more fitting here, because it is not only a before-after image, but the caption also gives at least some context.

For this trope, and only this and similar tropes, I think that there's a specific kind of justification: whatever is the most exaggerated, obvious expression. So while Quattro isn't incredibly sh!tty (I still don't like that image, personally), I think Enel is just better.

Exaggerated is not by default better. We're looking for most illustrative, not most extreme. An Oh, Crap! face is very rarely eye-bugging screaming terror. That image is not particularly illustrative of the trope as it's most often used.

"I think" = personal opinion.

I'm not saying it's by default better across the board.

While casually looking at my picture folder, I've just fell on one of the greatest examples of Oh, Crap! in manga.

My issue with the Enel picture is that it doesn't necessarily look like an Oh, Crap! face; the first time I saw it, I thought his expression looked more like he just got kicked in the balls or something. At least the current picture couldn't be mistaken for pain.

Also, I'm of the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" camp. There's nothing wrong with the current picture, so I see no reason to change it.

Last Panel seems to be a nice option.

The SD style doesn't work so well on this.

(The One Piece image looks like someone just kicked the guy in the nuts to me.)

I said it in the previous thread, I'll say it again: the One Piece pic is just a little too grotesque for my tastes.

I really don't want to sound rude, but I'm feeling ignored there. If you don't like my proposition, please at least tell me (as well as why so I can see if it's improvable), don't leave me in the dust like that.

^^ Seconding Raso's opinion regarding the Order of the Stick proposition.

well the sweating part is nice (more of another trope though which name slips my mind atm) but the bottom panel really isn't this trope since its already happening or whatever it makes no sense and is barely readable, is it an Imagine Spot?

Yup, it's indeed more or less an Imagine Spot. Him being shot by the Yamato with the angry faces of Nagisa and the chairman in the background is an humorous imagination figure to show how much he's screwed. Of course this wouldn't happen for real, the series being set in contemporary Japan.

Without having seen any of those series no one could know that... it could just as well be happening for real (if it had thought bubbles I could see it.)

I am still on the side of lets keep the pic but anyway putting out a few suggestions from Love Hina.

The Keitaro sleeping with Naru one is good, by I would have loved Keitaro having a more afraid face than that. The one about to get a sword in a face is okay too, but I like it less than the sleeping one. The third doesn't indicate what's the thing he's about to be screwed-up by.

On the topic of the Yume De Aetara pic, here's my attempts at editing the pics with only the first three panels. Horizontally, and vertically.

Mmmmm, looks like the vertical one is the clearest version.

This does not appear to be resolved. I'm not locking it.

Maybe we should take some more suggestions then put it to a vote?

I belive that if you count the amount of people on the image picking disscusions carefully(without counting people who post more than once) the common consencus is to change the picture. I belive that the previous discussion (in which I suggested this image◊ )was closed prematurely. ]]

and for the record, I agree with Wanderlustwarrior's votting suggestion

I thought it was closed too quickly too. I didn't even know about it until after the fact.

A problem is never solved so long as there are discussions being made about it over and over again. People say that Oh, Crap!'s image isn't clear enough, and I agree. Keitaro or Wile E. Coyote. If there was a boulder right about to smash down on Wile E. Coyote, it would really drive the point home.
