To-do list:
- Cut all pages and redirects in the VideoSource/ namespace. The full list is located here.
- Completely dewick Main.Video Source aside from the link on Main.Administrivia.
We actually don’t need a wick check because it’s more of an index like Image Source and Quote Source—and not even that anymore because it was causing massive index bloat—but Video Source is just redundant. It’s meant to be a repository for every time a work has been used in a video example... which can already be accomplished with VideoExamples/NameOfWork. Unlike images & quotes, which only have one per page, video examples are analogous to text examples. Anyone can add any number of them at any time.
Given this, it sounds reasonable to cut all Video Source pages.

for cutting.
Come play Character Uplift Game! While the Three-Day Rule is being kept in place, we might be able to skip the crowner (similarly to the LARP/ thread, except that took seven days due to the usual process for namespace changes), so I'll come back to this thread tomorrow.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Hooked a crowner since it's been three days and we already have our options decided upon.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. Our previous reason for wanting to keep this around was something to the effect of "but the Video Examples pseudo-subpage only works if people actually list all the media sources". But since then we've realized that adding a page to Video Source is exactly as much effort as posting in the video moderation thread and accomplishes nothing extra.
So yes, cut. We also suggest that the cut reasons should contain something to the effect of "To add missing media sources, post the video's title, primary trope, and which source page(s) you want added in the video moderation thread".
e: ... we might've skipped some posts.

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.I've asked about it, but didn't get a response; should we keep the second paragraph (quoted below) so that these items are wicked?

I'd like to apologize for all this.I don't think keeping it is necessary.
Macron's notesThe main use I could see that isn't covered by VideoExamples/ is listing videos without a media page to link them to, to make it easier to link them if such a page is created in the future. But if such a list were to be restricted to videos without a media page to link them to, it should probably be titled something other than Video Source.
I think having a Videos Without a Source page would be useful as we have Images Without a Source. Further discussion should probably go in the the Video uploading thread though. I'll mention it there.
Macron's notesI'm good with having that.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportCalling crowner in favor of:
- Cut Video Source's subpages, but replace the Video Source page with a page linking to the video example auto-index as covered in this post, akin to how the wiki pages for Trope Talk, Wiki Talk, and Needs an Index link to the corresponding forum threads.
Two redirects are now cut. Note that some works have their own subpages, so this may take a bit.
Edit: One media subpage and four work-specific pages down.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportI'm working on cutting the subpages; I'm going by this list of pages in the VideoSource/ namespace. Quite a few of them, though some of them are redirects.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. Also, please remove that link from Administrivia.Namespace
I'd like to apologize for all this.Done.
I cut the VideoSource/ pages starting with A and B and added a to-do list. I'm taking a break from cutting right now.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. What do we do with the wicks? Keep, cut?
I'd like to apologize for all this.I was focusing on subpages, but the link to the namespace entries does help a bit, so I may use that.
We still have a ways to go, but any progress is welcome.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportI got rid of them aside from the one on Main.Administrivia (to keep it indexed; as with everything else we decided on, this is for parity with pages like Main.Wiki Talk and Main.Trope Talk).
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. There is still the issue that some of the Video Source subpages still appear on some of the dropdown menus which I found out about.
Also the autolister doesn't always update as there are some video examples from series that didn't have a video example before don't appear.

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI have mass-cutlisted the K-M articles. I also removed a wick for one of the pages, which had an off-page wick.
Question: should I mass-cutlist them all, or wait until some are cut?
Edited by themayorofsimpleton on Mar 11th 2023 at 1:12:16 PM
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallYou can mass Cut List them. I am working on the Cut List now and we will get them all eventually anyways.
Macron's notesThanks Macron. I'll get back on cut-listing them.

Crown Description:
There are concerns that the Video Source indexes are unnecessary, as well as inconvenient to update because only mods can approve videos (in contrast to other indexes like Image Source and Quote Source involving features non-mods can handle on their own). What should be done with Video Source?
Cut the lot. Quotes and Images at least have the benefit of only allowing one of each per page.
And if you ask me, (Anything) Overdosed shouldn't be indexes. They are JFF entries, and I don't have a problem with that, but of course there's the possible contribution to index bloat, especially for popular works.
