A bossfight set in a dark warehouse, with lights that illuminate the enemy (and the hazards) flashing on and off.

The hero is a Vaudeville performer, and the boss is his partner, with the "battle" being their slapstick-heavy routine. Your goal is less to "win" a traditional battle as it is to make sure your routine goes over well enough with the audience.

The Hero's Childhood Friend and Rival, a Fighting Irish man who joined the military to pay for the bar Family Business' crippling debt and his sickly father's healthcare. Has a Blade On A Stick-based moveset themed around Irish Mythology with speedy strikes that put your skills to the test. Earns at least a five on the Vergil scale.

A thief in ancient Babylon realizes that she can find greener pastures elsewhere, and tries to leave before her current partner finds her. That doesn't work, so she ends up having to fight her way out.

Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon

A lighthearted boss battle against the protagonist's love interest. Neither side is actually trying to kill each other, and it's probably a Breather Boss in the context of preparing you for a nasty boss ahead....

Aphex Twin - Metaphrastic

You are chased by Aphex, a shapeshifting alien Eldritch Abomination that, in spite of its small healthbar, is ridiculously hard to kill thanks to how quick it’s dodges are and how resilient its Healing Factor is. One of the game’s toughest bosses, though it’s a mandatory encounter.

A "Get Back Here!" Boss fight against either a pyrokinetic or photokinetic Fragile Speedster, presumably a Recurring Boss and Rival to the hero. Features a lot of parkour and takes place in a big city at night.

A fight against a complete Jerkass that Hates Everyone Equally. It’s hard for them to approach you, but once you’re in reach you’re in for a relentless assault of cheap tricks that’s difficult to get out of.

Bump.

The hero comes to blows with a former teacher of his. They didn't exactly have the best relationship back then, and the hero has just grown more skeptical of said teacher since then. The hero nonetheless feels more exasperated and weary than angry.

A Humongous Mecha-Battlestar hybrid fought after taking on an entire fleet. Has the highest health of any boss in the game, as well as a crapload of guns.

A battle against a depressed, Spamton-like reality warper, who reveals more and more of his true personality as you pursue him through his news station.
