Yes, ideally, these pages would be made at the end of the decade and written retrospectively, rather than being used as a hub for documenting current events. Something thought of as a hot topic one year may turn out to be a flash in the pan further down the line.
In fact, I think UsefulNotes.The New Tens should have been made in 2019 or 2020, because the fact that it was used as a news feed resulted in its real life section having to be split off into a separate page, while UsefulNotes.The2000s, which covers the decade TV Tropes was started in (and the one I created my account in), features a fairly brief real life section, presumably because it was written retrospectively.

Cut the UN page and resume the discussion in a few years. Keep The New '20s since it lists works made in the period can describe common themes in works.
The Decades pages in general need some heavy cleaning and own thread if there isn't one already, look how massive The '50s and The '80s are. It can also host suggestions if anyone would want to append The New '20s description later.

No worries. My thread hasn't been very active so I understand if it got missed.
I also agree that the UN for "The New Twenties" should be cut. I looked at its beginning and noted it had a lot of events written as "will be" or "is expected to", which is just wrong for a historical recap.

It's been three days and the crowner solidly in favor of cutting UsefulNotes.The New Twenties so I'll go ahead call the thread in favor of that course of action. I'll clean the wicks and cut it when I have time.

I don't think there's anything left to discuss. There's the aforementioned Decades cleanup and if people want to move forward with rewriting The New '20s description to be less about current events, we can probably take it there.

Should UsefulNotes.The New Twenties be cut until closer to the end of the decade? The mod team has raised concerns over edit requests appearing frequently in the Locked Pages thread, and the page was locked because it was being used to record current events as they happened (due to the page being made at the beginning of the decade), rather than documenting a general overview of the decade, and documenting current events was determined to be off-mission for Useful Notes. Note that cutting does not mean adding the page to the Permanent Red Link Club; recreating the page would be an option by 2030, and cutting UsefulNotes.The New Twenties would not mean cutting Main.The New Twenties.
We're literally complaining about the exact opposite. We don't want updates.
