Needs Help: Bald Of Awesome

Out of curiosity, how does Bald Black Leader Guy relate to the renamed trope?

It's a subtrope because it's still about bald authority figures.

Bald Black Leader Guy was already a subtrope of Bald Of Awesome and will continue to be so for this trope

Update: I made the TLP draft to collect examples.

I think we can start de-wicking Bald Of Awesome and any viable examples can be added to the draft

Is there a bald genius trope?

We have Bald Mystic and Chrome Dome Psi.

I started dewicking and did a little over 100 to bring the number down to 2900. The wicks aren't that hard because nearly 75% of them are ZCE and can just be cut, so I'm going to try to keep this rate (100/day).

If anyone helps out and finds examples that can be moved to Bald of Authority, copy the example and paste it in the TLP draft, please and thanks

Were you moving those wicks to the tropes that were launched via the Bald Women thread? Bald of Authority hasn't even been sandboxed yet.

Bald of Authority is on TLP, so it doesn't need to be sandboxed?

I'm removing the wicks and rewriting the ones that can be saved to put on the Bald of Authority draft in the TLP. If the example fits another trope (typically either Bald Mystic, Baldness Means Sickness, Prematurely Bald, Important Haircut, or Expository Hairstyle Change) I just move the trope to that on the page.

As the wick check showed, there really aren't many current examples of Bald Of Awesome that even fit the authority definition, so I don't mind having to add them to the works pages later.

Bald Of Awesome was removed from NoRealLife.Too Common due to the rename. But I think baldness as authority is still too common in the real world, in addition to being a characterization trope.

Yes, you'd be right. The only issue right now is that Bald of Authority hasn't launched yet and is still just a draft in the Trope Launch Pad. Once it launches, feel free to add it to that index.

I don't think it's too common. Baldness is too common, yes; and "awesome" is really broad, but are there really that many bald authority figures? How many bald world leaders are there at any given moment, for example? I could better see it on NoRealLife.Narrative Characterization And Plot Tropes, but...

Across time and space? Many, especially if they are old. But I think the other designation for NRLEP would be fine too.

This ATT query brought up the concern that Bald Black Leader Guy might be The Same, but More Specific to Bald of Authority.

it is. all subtropes are technically. it just depends on whether or not the specification creates a meaningful difference in the narrative/for characterization or captures a meaningful difference from the parent trope. i personally don't think it does, but this thread isn't to tackle Bald Black Leader Guy. that'd have to be its own TRS thread

As an update: BOA started with a little over 3k wicks and I got it down to 2k today. Still adding examples to the TLP draft as well.

Actually can I get a mod to check out Immi Thrax and Richter Alexander Hold? I removed the link on the pages but they both still show up in Bald Of Awesome's Related page

Oh, those are ghost wicks (non-exist wicks that still show up on a page’s related to list). I removed them.

For future reference, you can remove ghost wicks from existing pages that have no wicks by adding a wick to the page and then removing it.

I notice how this topic hasn't ben decided yet but some tropes are erasing every Bald Of Awesome example out there. Is that ok or would it be better to wait until this thread has reached a consensus? The new trope might count for the old examples.

This thread has reached consensus. The new trope hasn't been launched, but we can add examples to the draft.

You can check the status of the crowner at the bottom or see the mod posts on the first page.

Any examples worth saving are being added to the Bald of Authority TLP draft as has been stated earlier in this thread.

sorry again, The Lord Inquisitor has a ghost wick on it, but I can't edit the page since technically no page exists.

ETA: and once that's dealt with all of the namespaces except for the Character namespace has been completed! that still leaves 1660+ wicks but hey, I'll take my wins where I can.
