My idea was meant to be either a new separate trope or a reworking. We could start a draft for it and then see how we feel about WSRD.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

To me it feels like a big enough change to where it's essentially starting over again, which is why I just stopped at "new trope". But yeah.

Yeah, it's a new trope either way, but if people decide to cut WSRD, then that could be where the former correct usage can go.

Could we perhaps make a new trope to address my desires for a YMMV for the Audience Reaction "Work/artist/etc. chases trends instead of doing what they do best right instead?"

From what I looked at from the first post, there does seem to be a big problem with people using this as 'modern technology bad'.
Regardless of what's decided for the trope, I do feel like there should be some sort of line clarifying that a Long Runner simply using any form of technology is not this trope. Technology Marches On after all, so of course Long Runners will update the tech in their works appropriately. I feel like for modern tech to qualify for this trope, it should have an entire episode/comic/what have you dedicated to the characters making a big deal out of it. (Likely after it had already become common place.)

I think the problem here is that no one knows what to rename this trope to. Even I can't figure anything out.

Do we know what we want from this trope, definition wise? We keep putting ideas out that seem accurate but it's still hard to place what the most useful definition would be.

That's the other problem. We don't know what this trope even should be.
