Needs Help: Dummied Out

As for other namespaces: Animation/ and Anime/ are confirmed to be in-universe. One of the three wasn't marked as such; it is now.

I'll try and do some wicks tonight. For now this is just a bump since I have work in, er...15 minutes.

Started working on the wicks. I'll continue at some point in the future.

Started on the Characters/ wicks and got down to Characters.Dot Hack before stopping.

I've cleaned out all VisualNovel/ wicks and made a small dent on VideoGame/. I'll probably take care of that namespace as it's most important here.

Pinball/ is done.

Started making progress on the Video Game namespace. Down to 2865 wicks. Too tired to carry on today.

Hey so if I see a pothole to (not an example of) Dummied Out on a non-Trivia video game page, should it be removed?

Potholes to Trivia on main pages are allowed; the warning showing up in that case is a bug.

I'm surprised that bug hasn't been fixed yet, considering the admins appear to have fixed the bug that caused the warning to appear on creator pages despite the guidelines for those pages.

I've been cleaning wicks (done all the A wicks in the Video Game namespace by the way,) and I've discovered a few of them come from works with no Trivia page. I've been creating Trivia pages just for the wicks. Should I not do that? And if I shouldn't, what should I do instead?

You can do that, there's no reason not to.

Yeah, Trivia items can only be listed on Trivia subpages, so it's fine to make a whole subpage for just one.

Ah ok.

Still clearing out wicks steadily here...

I don't know how much progress has been made since the last post, but I recalled that I kept track of how many wicks were in the VideoGame/ namespace and how many were in the Trivia/ namespace, and saw that I posted this in early May:

Things are looking better than when I posted that — 372 wicks are still in the VideoGame/ namespace (plus 321 wicks in the Characters/ namespace, which I'm assuming includes in-universe examples from non-interactive works), while 855 wicks are in the Trivia/ namespace (i.e., where they belong).

We also need to account for the fact that trivia can be linked on mainspace pages, they just can't be used as tropes there. You can say that so and so character was Dummied Out and it'd be acceptable so long as they don't have a Dummied Out example in their bio.

I'll probably clear up more wicks later. I admit that I have been some wicks to this trope overzealously, removing almost all non-universe links on work pages, but in 99.9% of cases, you can replace the words "Dummied Out" in an example with "cut" or "unused" and it won't make a meaningful difference.

Wanted to see where we were at so other people can help out. Confirming A-E of the Video Game wicks (our major hurdle) are In-Universe or inline usage, so anybody wanting to jump in can skip those.

No worries. I just cleaned out D-E myself, so I was just adding onto what you posted upthread :-)

Thx for wanting to help, but I really think you should delete all the wicks that are not in-universe. They still show the Trivia in work page icon that may annoy some people, and as stated above, 99.9% of cases can be replaced with "cut" or "unused" without using meaning.
