Not-So-Cheap Imitation is when a work derivative of another work manages to become more popular than the work it's imitating. Despite the clear YMMV nature of this page, as it deals with critical and audience reception, it is listed as Trivia. This is also the opposite of They Copied It, Now It Sucks, which is YMMV. It probably ended up being listed as Trivia because its Super-Trope, Follow the Leader, is Trivia, but that shouldn't be an issue since several now-Trivia items are listed as Sub Tropes of Follow the Leader, including They Copied It, Now It Sucks itself. A Sub-Trope doesn't have to be the same page type as its Super-Trope.
I suggest making Not-So-Cheap Imitation YMMV.
