a specific superstition related to one particular game series really isn't a trope

Looking at the page...probably only suitable as a bullet point for Urban Legends (under Real Life).

[up]I agree. Either way, I don't think it should be classified as a separate trope from Urban Legends (a move to Useful Notes would result in it being filed under Not a Trope), especially with such a low wick count.

The low wick count combined with the narrow focus leads me to believe that this is The Same, but More Specific to Urban Legends, at least with the page in Main/, especially since being The Same, but More Specific is what got Main.Delicious Fruit Pies moved to Advertising.Hostess Fruit Pies.

Specifically this would go under Pop-Culture Urban Legends. There is actually quite a lot of content on the page, too much for one entry, methinks. Would support making a useful notes or just for fun for all the sports trivia on the page.

[up]Pop-Culture Urban Legends would be a better place to put this than Urban Legends, unless we move this to a dedicated Useful Notes or Just for Fun page.

Edit: I think these are our options for whenever we have a crowner:

How could this fall under urban legend when the examples describe a provable pattern? It seems to be something similar to Star Trek Movie Curse.

[up] Because it's a curse about something in-real-life? Just because it's a specific pattern doesn't mean it's a tropeworthy one. The Star Trek one isn't really an urban legend.

Create write-up regarding the phenomenon in Pop-Culture Urban Legends, move actual content on Madden Curse to Just for Fun.

[up][up][up] the Star Trek Curse applies to multiple series with star trek merely being the Trope Namer, whereas the Madden Curse is only about those specific games

^^ That's an argument against tropeworthiness (I am with you there) but it doesn't explain why people want to fold it under Urban Legends (read: false rumors).

Urban Legends aren't "false rumors". They can be, but they're also, well...legends. Modern myths.

It's like the "Every US president elected in a year that's a multiple of twenty has something horrible happen to them" thing. Certainly, it's technically true, but some pattern showing up was inevitable. If that would qualify as an urban legend, this would too. I'm fairly sure it does, so this should be moved there.

Sorry; I cutlisted the page after moving the text, but before dewicking.

Edit: Now dewicking's done, so cutting should be fine now. Some wicks weren't even about Madden; they were unrelated examples of Pop-Culture Urban Legends.
