HGS Convergence Discussion Thread

Thank you guys for listening and agreeing to put some of your darker plots on the backburner and prioritise Lighter and Softer plots after this.

I feel like Villain Month is definitely the biggest source of this issue, but besides that, I think too many people just decided to introduce ongoing threats at once, which kind of ended up making the RP way too chaotic and dark. Heck, I'm guilty of contributing to the problem myself with Jimin. Granted, he's unaffiliated with all the major threats (unless Terminus and Dark Billy count as such) and his arc is small potatoes compared to what's going on with some of the other villains, but still, I chose a bad time to introduce him in all honesty. In a way his involvement in the fanfic school's destruction wound up screwing the fanfic school over entirely (that and the werewolf attack from earlier.) The book characters that help repair and defend the fanfic school and its inhabitants are very powerful, but they have a decently long cooldown time before they can be active again. I implemented that to avoid making my characters and the school OP. If too many OP villains are active, though, then that's going to be very difficult. :v

I'm sorry for getting a bit too carried away with Dark Eldraseen. I was in the heat of the moment after RP'ing as him for a bit, but he's going to take a break after the Battle of the Morths.

Yeah, a lighter plotline would be nice. I'm going to put Elliot Sigma on the backburner since I have plans for him and they're not light in the slightest, and I actually have very few characters to rp as- Elliot 1.0, The Messenger, The herd on the Fifth Vessel, Barmathazel, and the Vixen Goddess. And the latter two are villains.
That being said, my plan for the Battle of the Two Morths was a Mêlée à Trois between the Elliots, Dark Billy's forces, and Barmathazel's forces, but tbh im kinda glad where this went instead. It gives 1.0 a driving force to try and restore the Morths and its population (despite him not knowing that can happen juuust yet), and Elliot Sigma to get his revenge on Dark Billy while slowly going down a moral downward spiral.
I think I'm also going to get scipion involved in the rebellion arc as well, which isn't going to start until december since it's sorta my plan-

Don't worry, Psyche, I've kept my Villains restricted to my arcs so far. With the exception of ??? one time.

Well, on the first two points, my latest post has Base!Dave mentioning it to Ichi. I made it as a Leaning on the Fourth Wall kind of thing, because that has been one of my own primary concerns in regards to Convergence as a whole.

Here's something I will admit something: the thing is, I actually came up Terminus and his league of villains specifically to oppose the Legions of Doom, Valecor and Xiamos, and Scipion's group. That's one of the biggest reasons why the entity came to my mind. But from the start, I decided that he doesn't need to be in the spotlight yet, as he might very well find himself usurped by either them or Timewrecker (and I do not want Terminus to be a mere Big Bad Wannabe, at all; I intend for him to reveal something that will make certain that Nothing Is the Same Anymore). So I decided to have him be a villain who's currently biding his time behind the scenes. And while I do intend for him to be a massive threat later on, I have no interest to do so while Timewrecker is still at large. I'd prefer to see some other main villains (preferably not by GC) to hog the spotlight before Terminus does.

Also, speaking of GC, what I'm about to say is more of me personally, but also representing the other mods: again I understand that Convergence was your idea and that you are the GM of the current main arc, but again, that doesn't mean you control everything. And a major point of contention is Timewrecker destroying Ally. While we get that you created her and (up to the point of Timewrecker destroying her) you, by that technicality, shared her with 9k1, she is the one who plays her the most, and Ally is at this point a semi-major character. And you just went up and blew her up with absolutely no warning beforehand, and without any form of allowance for 9k1 to have a chance to either allow or prevent it. That is a form of godmodding, which is a violation of one of the VERY first and basic rules of roleplaying. And as fellow players, none of the mods are happy with that. Which brings us to one of your major fatal flaws: poor communication. Communication is one of THE things that are vital and necessary for an RP to thrive; without it, everybody's plans WILL cause contradictions and disagreements, which are factors that can easily destroy an entire RP. This entire Ally issue, as well as others before the first callout post, could have been avoided if you had only discussed it with everyone, 9k1 in particular for the former problem.

At the end of the day, we don't want another one of those Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies incident. To quote Psyche during the mods discussion: "When you're in combat in RPing, you always word your attacks as they're happening and the effects the attack would have if it would succeed. This gives the player the chance to have their character defend themselves. It's up to the player being attacked whether or not the attack hits. You do not just go 'lol my character punches yours.' It should be more like 'my character directs a punch towards yours.'" That is, unless (of course) you're doing a fight scene between your OWN characters. For example, Valecor vs. Det. GC; we left it alone because they're fully under your control, so who are we to stop your plans there? So I'd like to remind you that this thread is not just yours. It belongs to EVERYONE. Each and every one of us has a share here, and if there's going to be something that can and (especially) will affect another player, you need to talk and discuss it with the player in question.

That's it from me, as a representative. As for judgment.... for now, I'll leave it to the other mods (especially 9k1, who was affected the most) to decide.

I want to quickly add that you've already been warned about interfering in other players' plots without any form of communication, GC. That's not right no matter what the excuse is, especially if all of your own characters are untouchable. Please properly listen to us this time and make an effort to change your ways. Otherwise, we may have to ban you from Convergence entirely.

All I can say here is I agree with Psyche's points. I'm worried about this just turning into too much of "tons of OP villains ruining everything for the heroes and they can't do anything to stop it", all the time, especially this early in the RP. While I've had fun playing Dark Zanreo and her tributes recently, and while I've mostly enjoyed my and my tributes' journey in the Voidlands so far, I also want a more relaxing, slice-of-life type tone to the game after this arc, focusing more on my own characters and my tributes (mainly heroic ones, to balance it out). The OP villains combined with Villain Month being some of the main things going on just gets... exhausting.

Okay GC... hear me out. I'm going to save Ally. 6k1 keeping the instruction manual not only is an in-character thing for her to do, but this is also my attempt to fix this mistake.

Just because you created Ally and gave her to me to control doesn't mean you can be cruel to her without my permission. As Dave said, if you're sharing a character with another player, you must communicate with them, especially if they have different plans for them. This also applies to Mimi.

Secondly, forcing her to die without giving 6k1 or the other bunker residents a chance to save her isn't at all fair. It just came across as something done for mere shock value. You should've least given them a warning of what's to come, or better yet, asked me for my permission.

As for Villain Month, I have no choice but to agree with Convergence!Ichi that Villain Week was a better compromise. Because it has lasted for so long, the overall tone of the thread became so dark the players could no longer care for the heroes, knowing that the villains will always thwart them. This, along with the overabundance of them's why several players are starting to quit this thread.

I know I'm just reiterating the problems discussed above, but I have to drive the point home.

There will be severe punishment if you fail to change your ways. Specifically, the Timewrecker Arc will have to be put on hold for 3 months once everyone gets out of the Voidlands.

While I don't think this is as big a deal as the godmodding stuff, I want to also ask if you can please step back a little and let the other players influence the thread a little more? Your plots and characters are great and all, but they're kind of a Spotlight-Stealing Squad at this point, and as I was saying earlier, your vision for horror and villainy goes against the tone of the actual HGS thread. Myself and some others would like to start doing things to make Convergence better reflect the actual HGS thread, such as introducing and developing more comic relief characters.

And please remember that this is our story, not just your own. Our creative input and ideas are just as valuable as your own.

Ichi, all the backups exploded, so your PC couldn't have retrieved the Ultron body. Maybe just some base parts will do? And have him realize that it's gone, too.

Look, the thread can't up be about your plots and your Author Appeals, and this is just as much everyone else's RP as yours.

Also, it's clear you've been going after Troper No 9001 and her characters more than anyone else, even after knowing she's not a fan of this. Targeting a player like this is bullying, and it won't be tolerated here, or anywhere else in the forums in general.

Lately you've also been going out of your way to try to twist plots in your direction and accuse others of "reacting too soon", despite the first thing Lord English did was eating two kids in front of Paper - she'd have all reason to fear him and be suspicious. Here.◊

And with your past behavior, it's not really unreasonable for the players to suspect this will just be a way to get a powerful villain into the school just to eventually destroy the whole thing and killing the others, causing even more trouble for 9k1 and her characters.

You keep calling dave_the_assassin out on the thread's server for allegedly making his nominator character OP, when two of your main villains, especially Timewrecker, are OP themselves.

You decided to shift the blame on him when he's just trying to defend his fellow player, both in-universe and out. Here.◊

The whole thing about Villain Month is just a ploy to abuse your power and let the villains make the heroes' lives miserable, which is unfair for everyone. It's only fun for you, not anyone else - at least not the heroic nominator characters.

Your last post◊ is basically railroading 6k1 into training her fellow nominators, which she's emotionally unprepared for since she's been into hiding for so long:

You've already been warned several times about this behavior, and it just doesn't seem like you understand the issues or will be improving.

Because of this, we are sorry to say this, but '''you are officially banned''' from the Convergence thread. Please give all your future plans for this thread to the mods in a shareable doc.

Failure to comply with the latter will mean your arcs will have to be taken in a different direction chosen and overseen by the mods. You will also have to relinquish control of all of your characters regardless of choice, bar Detective GC, to others who wishes to do so.

That's shocking. Also that GC has been banned, does that mean the OP has to be updated with new rules. So something like mod edit if it's even possible on TVT (as I'm not sure for that), has GC edit it with the rules himself before making him quit, or even a Reboot thread?

Double post, but there's some announcements. First of, due to GC being banned and yet being the OP of the first Convergence thread, it's decided that the thread should be rebooted. I will be the OP of that thread. The reboot will be done after the party by Power, as well as Timewrecker and Valecor's demise, and will begin with Detective GC's funeral, and nominator party in his memory.

So,it's getting rebooted? Well, it was fun while it lasted.

I guess the reboot is going to be a sequel of some sort.
