We've just pushed a large overhaul public. Please report complaints, comments and concerns here. When reporting bugs, please make sure you include which browser(s) and platform(s) you have encountered the issue with.
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
- Why did we do this? This update has been in development for over a year. It replaces a vast amount of messy code on the back-end, gives us a new modernized design, updates us to https, and creates a platform that we can more easily build on for future updates.
- Can we go back to the old design? This isn't happening. We'll make the new one work.
- Why are there so many bugs? As with any major overhaul, some problems will occur. The developers are working full-time on fixing stuff.

It seems that some pages just aren't displaying text anymore. Both Bone and Obvious Beta are coming out entirely blank.

The text colors on the History pages are really ugly compared to the old ones.
The Protomen enhanced my life."When I'm done...half the articles on the wiki will be locked because of buggy code."
Also, did the front page trope just change AGAIN?

Can confirm editing works, at least on my end. Now if the folders not opening issue could get fixed, that'd be amazing. 8P
Rioting? We are legally and rightfully expressing grievance with how this site has changed and became worse through this forced update.
@Angrok Va Yeah, totally. Hopefully, if they do change the wiki back to pre-update, they'll keep the blue colors. They're really nice.
Peace out, peeps. It looks like the avatar sizes got fixed!
The Protomen enhanced my life.@NickTheSwing: okay sure, I'm just saying, the exclamation points gave off a "torches and pitchforks" vibe.
That being said, I've changed my title to "Hashtag: Not My Tropes". Because if I type it differently it comes out as #Not My Tropes.
...I don't edit much, okay!

Xbox/PlayStation: IndiGhost77 | on semi-hiatusSo my sandbox page was unlocked for a moment and now is locked again.
I suppose that's ANOTHER bug
Uni catClicking on spoiler boxes when Show Spoilers is on doesn't turn the spoiler filter back on.
Red-linking seems to not be working. I am about to make a page for Bob Le Flambeur, and so I made that link on the page for its remake The Good Thief. It shows up blue as if there is already a Bob le flambeur page, but there isn't.
I also have a problem with the edit timestamp.
See? The timestamp, I mean, not any post below, heh.

Xbox/PlayStation: IndiGhost77 | on semi-hiatusFirefox: Not sure if it was mentioned, but title search is completely nonfunctional, with every return as Do not put quotes around terms.
At least the night vision mode still works.
My eyes when I saw the new design: "AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAHHHHHHHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" <pause to blink> "AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48There is seemingly a memory leak with either the site or ads, the site's pages are causing a constant memory increase.
I just noticed that the sub-index boxes on index pages (the "floatboxright" ones) aren't working anymore. The sub-indexes are stacked on the left on top of the regular tropes and no box appears. I have no idea if this is intentional or another bug, but either way it's confusing and, in my opinion, poor use of space.
Also, Animals See in Monochrome seems to be having issues with inbound wiki links. Its page lists it as un-indexed despite it being on Artistic License – Biology and Animal Tropes, and its Related page says nothing links back to it despite at least the aforementioned links working just fine. Is this an isolated issue or are other pages doing this?
Just catching up on this thread and saw something to weigh in on
Re: Crowner: Y'all know that poll is beyond useless, right? "At the very least it has the potential to be a more accurate read on community sentiment as opposed to just reading what the people who bother to post say." Hahahaha no, because not only do people have to come across the link to it, they have to click that link and bother voting. And most of the people who will take the time to do that are going to be, you guessed it, the ones who bother to voice their negative opinions to begin with, while people with a less negative outlook are less likely to participate. It's like the implicit bias in receipt tracker customer satisfaction surveys except worse.
Re: Rollback: incredibly unlikely to happen. The frontend design is likely closely intertwined with backend code that they're working on fixing and bringing improvements to. Rolling back the design would then also mean rolling back any backend changes.
Re: Beta: I know that there was a beta testing group for this update, but I was not part of it, despite having been part of the Kickstarter beta group that tested the original redesign and the Dragon design. I do feel like us KS backers should have been included.
@TairaMai: There's another bug right there. I think. Where you type in a big enough word, it breaks out of the border.
For example: supercalifragilisticexpialidociousIthinkthat'showit'sspelledbeenawhilesinceI'veseenthatmovie.

Xbox/PlayStation: IndiGhost77 | on semi-hiatusThanks.
And why are some posts highlighted???
All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48I didn't comment on this earlier since I wanted to wait, but New Edits page is like super short now due of now only showing one page and thus can't browse through older edits.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru! The latest post is highlighted. That is, the post you specific go to when clicking on a topic. This is also the case in the earlier version with the Discussion pages of various Work pages on the Wiki itself.
That said, interesting update. Works decently well enough for me so far. Once in a while I get logged out. Only notable things are the inability to mark a forum read among the things I usually use.
@Sixthhokage 1: You seem to be somewhat in-the-know here, so what would you say the chances are of us getting a Gmail-style option to toggle between the new and old interfaces? That would solve most of the non-bug complaints imo, let the users who like the new interface use the new interface and the ones that don't, give them the option to continue using the old one. Is there any technical or administrative reason why this could not be done?

Just here to say that I'm really loving the new update! I much prefer the design and layout compared to the previous version of the site.
In dark mode the highlighted post is literally unreadable cause the highlight is the same color of the text.
@KoolKoopaGirl: yeah, the buttons give off a Nintendo LABO feel in hindsight, doesn't it?
Also yay, 801 posts!
