Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
- Why did we do this? This update has been in development for over a year. It replaces a vast amount of messy code on the back-end, gives us a new modernized design, updates us to https, and creates a platform that we can more easily build on for future updates.
- Can we go back to the old design? This isn't happening. We'll make the new one work.
- Why are there so many bugs? As with any major overhaul, some problems will occur. The developers are working full-time on fixing stuff.

- Where'd the "Folders Open" toggle go? Not a bug, it's in your profile.
- Multiple issues with the new site search feature. [Logged]
- No sorting options.
- Forum poster search is gone. [FIXED]
- Can't search specifically by thread title, making results unhelpful.
- Pagination doesn't work correctly — the last page displays as if there were no search results.
- Line breaks don't work in some areas. (Ask The Tropers, Trope Launch Pad, forum previews) [Patched]
- ATT, TLP, forum previews fixed. Some more line breaking issues were identified and are being worked on.
- The Cut List does not work.
- Cannot approve or deny requests. [FIXED]

- Note, subscript, and superscript formatting are broken in various places. [FIXED]
- Night vision has significant readability problems. [Patched]

- Articles may become locked when edited, or when backing out of editing without clicking Cancel. Moderators can remove the locks but can't fix the underlying problem. [Patched]
- Remaining issue: the lock system still doesn't distinguish between an article that's locked and one that's checked out for editing.
- Edits won't save when "<" or ">" characters are present in the markup. [Patched]
- HTML detection was disabled for the time being. We're working on a more robust system.
- Edits won't save when the [norreallife] tag is present in the markup. [FIXED]
- Redirects are broken. [Patched]
- This is at least partially fixed. We need to know if there are any remaining problems.

- Images on wiki articles are rendered smaller than in the previous design. [Patched]
- Resizing images with [quoteright] tags is still broken.
- The "Following" list (formerly called the Watchlist) doesn't distinguish visually between viewed and unviewed articles. [In Progress]
- Custom titles are no longer appearing in all places where they should. [FIXED]
- In-line icons for Flame Bait, Trivia, and YMMV wicks are intended, but sometimes overlap preceding text. [Patched]
- Trivia icons should not appear in-line. (Design issue, logged)
- In second-level bullets, icons overlap preceding text. [Logged]
- The [invoked] tag no longer suppresses the aforementioned icons. [Logged]
- [quoteblock] markup causes everything inside to appear italic and squashed together. [FIXED]
- Line breaking for external links doesn't work correctly. [FIXED]
- Post numbering is no longer visible, although you can retrieve it from the hard-link. [Logged]
- "Delete all posts by user" mod feature now causes posts to be completely hidden instead of replaced with "Troll Post". [Logged]
- "Mark all as read" forum feature doesn't work. [Logged]
- "Save Draft" feature doesn't work as expected. [Logged]

- Unread indicators on individual forums (topics.php) seem to have nothing to do with whether you actually have any unread posts. [Logged]

I ended up as Ekul Teabag for a couple of minutes, alonmg with a few other users I can't remember the name of.
I logged out, logged back in, issue did not come back.

I logged in with my username and password twice and got two different accounts. Third time ended up with mine. Might wanna look into that?
On Safari, it either won't let me log in at all, or I'll be logged in as a completely different user.
Also, my watchlist is all messed up. Everything automatically becomes unread when I leave the page, which didn't happen previously.

Edits don't seem to be saving.
The evil formatting no longer seems to work in your forum title, which is lame. I presume text coloring and strike are also affected.
We still don't have a quote button.

I just tried making an edit but all I got was a blank window when I pressed save. Other than that this doesn't seem to be as bad as the last change.

The browser version of the site seems broken.
Mobile version seems to be fine, but I also had an error where I was logged in as another account (I don’t know the account’s name, but it definitely wasn’t mine).
RIG
The characters "files" that contained all respective Character tropes now don't show ALL the tropes when you open them.
Did the "Show Spoilers" option get removed entirely? I need my spoilers! :P

- Night Vision has a problem with new posts as it displayed them as light gray on bright
- a lack of automatic line breaks means that one long "word" can get out of the box and further and further to the right, making it necessary to scroll

Similar issue at first, I got Dwask 117 and some others before I got logged into my own account. Also had some database connection issues to random pages.
I'm starting to see some of the site graphics display correctly now, and I'm in my own account now.

I tried making an edit to Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. Right afterwords, the page was suddenly marked as locked.

I ended up logging in as several other people, too. Not only that, but when I looked at the pages I normally visit, everything got shrunken down. Nothing pops out, anymore; it's all miniature images you'd see on your standard textbook wiki. Also, remember when the notes were just subscripts? Now they're normal text and it's incredibly distracting.
I thought this was supposed to make using the site easier. This doesn't look easier, is all I'm saying. Maybe a patch would make things work out better?

I logged in briefly as at least one other account as well, though my browser almost instantly logged me back out.
Also have the night vision issue mentioned above.

Please revert some of the changes on the forum thread watchlist. For someone who has many threads on it, needing to see all of them every time I check is very obtuse and gives me no benefit.
The Thread Watchlist is called "Following" on the main forum page. "Thread Watchlist" seems to only show up in threads.
Also, I somehow stopped changing into random users by logging out and logging back in?
