Kinda weird that hair of all things get pointed at when going about the anthropomorphization. There's height, opposable thumbs, odd limb proportions, working teeth on their upper and lower jaws that allow chewing, but hair is the weird thing to point to.

[up][up] I like that it’s also canonically the frog Wolverine. Hairy Frogs are the best at what they do.

Well, around 57:55 Matt was asked about potential Season 4 or movie, to which he answered that he would be interested of making movie, it being about time travel, his main reason being that he wants to see Leif and Barrel interacting with modern time characters.

So Amphibia I've learned has had a bunch of anime references:

First, Getter Robo:

Then Kamen Rider:

And this was in a American Super Hero homage (Spiderman apparently).

Finally, we have the latest one I learned of, fracking Mobile Fighter G Gundam:

Like, maybe I should actually check this show out. It's got some interesting stuff.

I'm seriously super glad time travel never happened in Amphibia,if there's one thing that makes a nuisance of itself it's time travel

Or Original Anne coming back to life and going insane that her friends left her for dead in Amphibia.

LOL.

I am glad you think that way because I also hate that theory with a passion, despite coming up with it.

As far as anime references go, its a little surprising that no one mentioned Magic Knight Rayearth. I feel like there were some references in Amphibia, particularly in the final episode. Of course, it is pretty old at this point. The target demographic wouldn't get it. To show the resemblance I'll post the first opening (there are no comparison videos for Amphibia).

Sorry anime purists, I could only find the english version of the first opening (with visuals) on youtube.

Matt's noted before that Rayearth was a huge inspiration for the show.

The final battle actually reminded me of the one from DieBuster, though there are probably tons of similar ones.

Time travel is one of those popular controversial tropes huh [lol]

[up][up]That orchestral cover is glorious!

[up]Time travel is a trope that creates plenty of paradoxes and Plot Holes even when it's the main focus of the story, but especially when introduced to a story that does not mainly focus on time travel. So while it would be cool to see Leif & Barrel interact with the present-day cast, it would also create many, many questions and would potentially end up as another Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Time Travel is a trope. It doesn’t create plot holes. Bad writing creates plot holes.

People tend to have a popular but misguided perception of being inherently convoluted due to a lot of media that utilizes it causing audiences to conflate inconsistent writing with something inherent to the concept. Exacerbating this, writers also have a bad habit of leaning into that perception by using the audience’s expectation of time travel being convoluted as an excuse to cheat their stories and cut corners of the story.

However, in general, time travel works pretty identically to magic. Which is to say, how it works is up the author but Magic A Is Magic A, and as long as you remain consistent and make it clear what the rules are to the audience there won’t be much of a problem. Once you break those internal rules and get inconsistent, however, you get a mess.

And exactly like magic, you get poor writers who instead decide “it’s X, I don’t have to explain it,” but that’s not the trope’s fault.

Hate to swerve the discussion, but today is the first anniversary of "True Colors".

Its an episode that for me falls into the very weird, very small category of things that I think are amazing in every aspect but also find extremely difficult to rewatch. "Olivia and Yunan" is another. These episodes for me are basically what "Jurassic Bark" is like for most Futurama fans.

Yes, I am a gargantuan fan of Marcy Wu, how did you guess? As a very nerdy Asian person with autism, I relate to her very deeply (heck, we even have the same last name), on top of the fact I find her extremely moe. She's honestly become a huge comfort for me, and seeing her in pain and/or tears breaks my heart.

I think people riffing that one scene in true colours near endlessly in youtube has made it a slightly less painful for me,plus the fact we know we she survives even after

I think Anne would want her friends to be co-guardians with her in the afterlife.

So, I wrote a fic depicting such. I intentionally had Anne be the last one to pass.

So, anyone surprised Gunther from Croak and Punishment wasn't in season 3 at any point? Given his Hulk powers, he could've been useful to the resistance.
