edited to add this information, since this is going to be a long clean-up

"Donald Trump, as with any other current political figure, should not be a subject of any trope example on the wiki, except:

  • When the work in question specifically mentions the RL individual.
  • When the entirety of the example has to do with the portrayal of that individual in the work.
  • When the work is fictional.

All three of these must apply.

Alternatively:

  • When the RL individual has a creative role themselves, such as writing or acting in a work. In this sense we give them no more nor less treatment then we would any other creator.

Additionally, please make sure to take out any examples of "Funny Aneurysm" Moment, Harsher in Hindsight, or Hilarious in Hindsight regarding these political figures. A political event that may be seen positively by some people may be seen negatively by others.

We're starting with the wicks to Donald Trump (There were 751 of them at the starting point of this count.)

Wicks have already been checked and cleared up to

2/14/17 Inherent in the System

Given the current political climate, talking about Donald Trump on this Wiki is a very sensitive topic and pretty much any comment on him could easily end up violating the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment. I talked it over on Ask a Troper and a moderator gave me permission to start this topic. I feel it will be necessary to make sure any mention of him is safe and avoids politically charged or biased opinions. Right now, we need to stick to facts, not opinions.

From Watch_Dogs 2

  • Life Imitates Art: One mission in the game has you destroying voting machines rigged to vote for Mark Thruss. After the election there was widespread suspicion that voting machines in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania may have been hacked in favor of Trump.

[up] Nuke it. The trope requires at least a bare minimum of evidence that the action in question actually happened. (Voting machine fraud is of course a possibility, but it is not known what elections, if at all, were impacted, due to a large percentage of claims being sour grapes accusations with absolutely no proof.)

Found this on the YMMV page for Ratchet: Deadlocked.

  • Values Resonance:
    • In 2017, the character Gleeman Vox was noted as being similar to Donald Trump with being involved in controversial media and that they have quite a short temper.

Since Vox seems to not have been intended as a reference to Trump and those personality traits are standard as far as Corrupt Corporate Executives go, should this be cut?

I been pondering whether in Series.Parks And Recreation, there was a season thay dealt with Leslie Knope, who has years of government experience, running for Senate(?) Against Bobby Newport JR., a person who comes from a rich family and who has zero government experience. This, too me at least, feels very similar to the Trump vs. Hillary election. Would that qualified for Life Imitates Art?

Found this in Clip Show:

The 1994 special, "Sesame Street All-Star 25th Birthday: Stars and Street Forever!" shows clips from various episodes and sketches, with the over-arching story being about the citizens of Sesame Street attempting to save the neighborhood from the Donald "The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese" Trump Expy, Ronald Grump, and his plan to turn it into the Grump Tower.

That quote needs to be edited from this entry (as it has nothing to do with the subject of the episode) pronto.

From Darkwing Duck:

"Funny Aneurysm" Moment entry

** In the "Campaign Carnage" story arc of the comic book, Launchpad McQuack, who at the time was CEO of Quackwerks, ended up running against Darkwing as Mayor of St. Canard, with one of the citizens coming to the conclusion that Launchpad would be a great mayor because no one who runs a corporation can be evil. Now Donald Trump has been elected President of the United States, and to say that his campaign campaign, to say nothing of his administration, has been a touch controversial would be an enormous understatement. Though it could be considered Hilarious in Hindsight due to his status as an acceptable target.

[up]i feel like the fact that i immediately felt inclined to argue with you about the "migrant caravan" indicates that that one should be deleted in the interests of ROCEJ.

i agree with the rest of your proposed changes. ROCEJ aside, the page's purpose should be to document conspiracy theories, not to debate about them. only basic information about them is required for that. if people want to go full wild mass guess, they can do it not-here.

I have found a couple of examples at Fauda of entries for tropes which I believe come from unreliable sources, but I have not cut them from the YMMV page, as I am not sure if they should stay.

The tropes are as follows:

Trope 1 is less of an example than a link to a website called Mondoweiss with CLEAR Anti-Israel Bias, and I believe said link violates the rule of cautious editing judgement.

The second is an unapproved Woobie entry.

What should I do?

Edit: I should add that they are the only two tropes on the page, so even if I have permission to remove the trope entries, I may just go to the Cut List, as there are no other tropes I can add to the YMMV as I am otherwise unfamiliar with the show. I only noticed the YMMV because I have reserved said series in the Complete Monster cleanup and dates.

no opinion about the Woobie entry, although if it's unapproved then it'll probably go too.

Found this on YMMV.Arthur

  • Hilarious in Hindsight
    • S5's "The Election" is about a mock election that Arthur's third grade class holds as they learn about the American government. Muffy is an ambitious female candidate with Power Hair, Arthur is the bespectacled "average" guy, and Binky is a self-aggrandizing Cloud Cuckoolander candidate with unfeasible ideas who somehow wins the election. Fifteen-plus years after this episode first aired, it comes across as an uncanny prediction of the 2016 U.S. presidential election, with Muffy as Hillary Clinton, Arthur as Bernie Sanders, and Binky as Donald Trump.

The description of Binky/Trump seems very negatively biased, especially compared to the other characters.

Found this under the real life section of Nouveau Riche

Donald Trump is an interesting example. He displays all the hallmark behavior of the nuveau riche. His sense of taste has often been described as "Dictator Chic," involving inordinate amounts of marble and gold (even if it's just the color gold). He's also prone to bragging about and flaunting his wealth at any opportunity. He portrays himself as a self-made man, very much in line with the trope, but it's his detractors who point out that his father and grandfather were both very rich themselves, so he does not exactly have humble origins. Indeed, recent news reports suggest that Fred Trump provided his children with some $400 million in a plan to reduce his own tax burden.

This doesn't seem kosher to me. While it does technically fit the trope, I think ROCEJ says it doesn't matter, and even if that wasn't true, I think the example would need cleaning to avoid the rambling discussion anyway.

Am I good to cut?
