I admit, I like both.

My wife isn't a gamer but loves the RE movies and Underworld as the only "scary" movies she watches.

[up] On behalf of the entire RE fandom, I only ask three things:

1) Have the RE characters be actual main characters. Stop pegging them in as special guest extras. Chris, Jill, Claire, Leon, all of them. Hell, maybe even Ethan (though good luck doing that when he doesn't have an established face).

2) No more Alice. Put her out to pasture. No offense to Milla Jovovich, but the world of RE is better off without Alice. She's overstayed her welcome long ago. If you must have her, then make her a Decoy Protagonist...who gets axed in the first 5-10 minutes. Or gets turned into a Nemesis/Molded-like creature.

3) No more Paul W.S. Anderson. That man's overstayed his welcome as much as Alice did. And while you're at it, blacklist him from doing Monster Hunter. He's done more than enough with one Capcom series, I refuse to see him poison another one with more generic, by-the-number Hollywood plot BS.

Comply to these 3 requests and we should all be okay.[tup]

While I agree with 1 and 3, isn't 2 a little petty?

[up]

I suppose one could make the argument that 2 is a touch petty...

However, I invite you to think about who we're talking about. We're talking about someone who...

1) has never ever appeared in any of the source material's installments.

2) continuously establishes herself as a super-powered ass-kicking one woman army.

3) constantly outshines all the protagonists who have actually appeared in the RE games themselves.

With that in mind, I ask you: are we talking about Alice or a Mary Sue?

Mouse over the spoiler for the answer: Yes.

I won't claim I like her all that much and I do get the frustration even though I haven't played all the R.E games but I'd rather just have her written out. Since it's a reboot she doesn't even need to appear.

Also, James Wan will be producing it

When will Alice be in an RE game? That's all I care about.

Used to be a massive RE fan. I was so mad at Apocalypse because it wasn't RE 3 at all. But I've made peace with the movies. After Extinction, they really turned up the camp.Paul WS Anderson returned to directing and made the series a brainless popcorn movie with hot chicks, fighting and awesome music.

And really, that's all you could ever expect from the games, too. There's a reason Umbrella in any incarnation has the same threat rating as 80s Shredder, Cobra and Skeletor. The RE games are not well-written. RE 4 is so beloved largely because it was so patently, lovingly ridiculous and we had our hero saying "sucks to be them" and the villain lampshading tropes and a room full of lava (?????)

[up]RE 4 had Cave Trolls.

They had given up being serious, something RE 7 seemed to want to correct.

I have a hard time believing these games were ever serious for the most part.

Resident Evil stopped taking itself seriously by Resident Evil 4. That's when the major tone shift took place.

Milla Jovovich's stunt double is suing the producers of The Final Chapter and Paul W.S. Anderson.

Long story short, it seems to be over allegedly prioritizing saving money over the safety of human lives because she got so pummeled, it made her lose an arm and go into a coma. All she got for her troubles was $33,000 and no insurance paying from them.

Not sure if it affects Sony, but it does sound like another case of bad luck for them.

Is there a Stunt Double Union? If not, there really should be.

The saddest thing is that most of the cast is very good.

The bad thing is that they are degraded to secondary to make Alice look good.

For example there is a scene in the second movie, in which Jill almost has a great scene with a cigarette lighter and zombie dogs, but the lighter goes out and Alice ends up being the hero who destroys the dogs.

What could have been a great scene for Jill was ruined to make Alice look "cool".

And I'm afraid the same thing will happen in Monster Hunter.

Wait, holy shit, she lost an arm and went into a coma?!

WHAT THE FUCK, ANDERSON?!

And yeah, literally every major Resident Evil character was sidelined to give Alice more screentime. The RE games would be better as thriller movies too, not some weird, poorly-written post apocalyptic action movie.

Seriously, who the fuck is Umbrella going to sell zombies to when they caused the collapse of society? Why would they continue to develop zombies afterwards? And why do they want to wipe out humanity?! NONE OF THEIR MOTIVATION MAKES SENSE!

[up]In fairness, wiping out humanity either entirely or just mostly to start over with a new vision for the world is the end goal of 5 of the 8 major antagonist factions so far; if anything, it is the 3 previous movies that make no sense, with the Final Chapter wrapping up the continuity with something resembling the game plotlines.

And that stuntwoman should absolutely sue the shit out of Anderson.

I remember Movie Bob claiming that Alice was better than most of the Resident Evil video game characters. To this day, I don't know if he was being serious or just trolling the RE fandom.

In the new Monster Hunter movie, the hunters will surely suffer from Adaptational Wimp for Alice to be the hero.

I really don't understand why WS Anderson has to put his wife in the lead role of every movie he makes. Does she want to do this? Or is she under some kind of "Be in this movie or I'll divorce you" threat?

Outside of the RE movies and the Monster Hunter film, where else has he done this?

Tim Burton also had a habit of putting his wife in his movies, but at least he knew he shouldn't put her as the center of the universe. (In fact, in many cases she plays a secondary character.)

If I was married to Milla Jovovich I'd probably end up putting her in every movie too, to be honest.

[up][up]the joke Is not that Tim put Helena in every movie but that he put Johnny un very one as the star.

[up]yeah.....

Also Is not like RE Gámes are that better, RE look like a video game adaptation of the movie rather the other way around
