I'm making this because I would like to know if you have ever unsubscribed from a You Tube channel and I also would know like to know why you unsubscribed.

  • Pewdiepie: I subbed back in 2012 (my senior year of high school) after a friend showed me one of his montages. I watched some of his playthroughs of RPG Maker games, such as Mad Father, The Crooked Man, Misao, and Lucifer, and then unsubbed a few months later when I started to notice that I didn't really like 90% of what he put out. I don't like YouTubers with crazy, loud, or 'hip' personae, or most straight-up Let's Players.
  • Marii 026: She was a really small-time YouTuber who taught herself Japanese and did bilingual karaoke subtitles of famous Disney songs. I think I subbed sometime during 2009, or early 2010, and it was probably later in 2010 when her channel was taken down due to copyright.
  • Cereal Time: This is a Good Mythical Morning-style weekday variety show done by Charlie McDonnell and his friend Jimmy. I'm subbed to Charlieissocoollike and I like him, and although I don't really like GMM, I thought maybe his take on the format would be good, but it didn't keep my interest. I think I was subbed for the duration of last summer. At most.
  • Hankgames: Hank Green's Let's Play channel. I like Hank's other stuff, so I subbed when the channel started, and then I think I unsubbed during late 2012 after he posted an infuriating Let's Play video of him playing Assassin's Creed 3 and messing up badly. I think this and Pewdiepie are what made me realize that I don't like watching straight-up Let's Plays.
  • Nerdy and Quirky: There's something about Sabrina's brand of comedy that I'm not a fan of. I keep hearing that she's really intelligent for her age (she's still in high school), but I don't think this really comes out at all. She just seems like an average teen girl with a fancy camera to me. (I don't mind her in Crash Course Kids, though.) And I don't really empathize with teens, so...
  • The React channel: It was partially because I didn't really care for most of the videos, and partially because the React World fiasco gave me a convenient excuse.

And now for a happy ending!

I subbed to Wheezy Waiter some time ago, and then unsubbed because I didn't really care for Craig's brand of comedy. And then the genuinely heartfelt video where he proposed to his girlfriend (and which honest-to-God made me cry) found its way to my Tumblr feed, and I came back. After his wedding and honeymoon hiatus, he started daily vlogging, and I got to know him better than 'that balding guy with the beard who has a bunch of clones of himself and does Explosion Wednesdays'.

Dc I have unsubscribed from a few You Tube Channels. For various reasons.

  • Anime America-I unsubscribed mostly because I didn't agree with some of their reviews for certain anime. I also felt that some of their lists weren't really good at all.

  • Alpha Omega Sin- I had been watching this guy's videos since last year. I originally subscribed to him because I liked his humor and I liked that he was very passionate about video games and that he liked heavy metal like me. The reason I unsubscribed was that he was getting into politics in his videos a little too much. I didn't care for his videos on feminism and so-called SJ Ws. It got to the point where I decided to just unsubscribe.

Random DCE: I liked him back when I was 16, but I grew out of his style and he didn't.

There was another guy who I forgot the name of that I unsubscribed to because he was just not very... emotionally developed. The last straw was when he did a shrill review of Barney's Big Adventure where he basically acted like a 12 year old from 1997.

Blasphemous HD TV: I thought it was funny to see how he reacted to various videos, but once I watched several videos calling out reaction channels and how they're making a profit off of someone else's hard work (Thank you Grade A Under A for showing me the light!), I realized he was a scum-sucking thief who deserved his strikes and I unsubscribed from both his main channel and his backup channel.

Pew Die Pie, I followed him a few years ago when he was at - what - 2 million? And then I unsubscribed a year later because he was too loud for me (it made me angsty) and didn't have my style of humor.

Mike Mozart, because one can only watch the exact same review of a bad toy so many times.

Actually, is he even still relevant anymore?

There were also that channel where they basically put everything in a microwave and Will It Blend. The former I don't even remember why or when I unsubbed. The latter? I got sick of every single video basically being an advertisement for some big company's product.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.

That's because "Will it Blend?" IS an advertisement for that company's blenders. It's just a guerrilla one that don't cost them as much as a super bowl ad.

I unsubscribed from a lot of Tekken channels as my interest waned.

Oh, and I unsubbed from a huge Super Smash Bros. tournaments youtube channel because if was primarily Melee-focused and I'm not really seeing any variety from them, while remaining subbed to Zero, Tournament Locator and Clash Tournaments.

Many Top 10 channels, they have all started promising and grateful for their small followers before they get into clickbait thumbnails, topics driven deep enough into the earth to reach the core, and other practices that spell out unoriginality

Try imagining how far the universe extends! Keep thinking about it until you go insane.

[up][up]I know that. It's blatantly obvious that that's what it is. I'm talking about when the show started hawking other products, like movies and games and the like.

Only thing that comes to mind is Is It a Good Idea to Microwave This? and they were never ads for companies since they just did whatever they felt like/fan submissions until the show ended.

As for channels I've subbed then unsubbed to, aside from the obvious dead and inactive channels, that I remember:

  • Pewdiepie: Got tired of his humor, wasn't subbed very long.
  • Rhettand Link/Good Mythical Morning: Wasn't really interested in their content anymore
  • The Know: Same deal with the clickbait titles.
  • Collegehumor: Their newer content isn't as good as their older stuff.
  • Marrilland: I'm not really sure how I tolerated his voice back when Pokemon Diamond and Pearl came out, but eventually I just started finding his voice grating.

@pointless233

I agree with you on AlphaOmegaSin as he started to get redundant when he started to tackle SJWs, Feminists and Politics. I didn't subscribe to these two pundits Sargon of Akkad and Thunderfoot as I was already annoyed with their tearing apart of SJ Ws and just plain tearing people apart. I wished that I never watched any of their content and while I didn't watch a lot of their videos, I was really annoyed with what they were trying to do. Nowadays I am trying to exorcise their bile from my thoughts but I know it will stick with me forever. sad

[up]Honestly, when it comes to things like feminism and stuff like that, I prefer to stay as far away from that as possible. Because to me, both sides are making complete fools of themselves.

But anyway, I would like to hear from more people about why you unsubscribed from a particular You Tube channel.

I've only ever unsubscribed to one channel and that was Alpha Omega Sin for the same reason that was already stated. I don't know why you would willingly alienate a large subsection of your viewers like he started to do but after a while I got tired of hearing it.

Ksi, I watched him during the late days of fifa 12 going on to fifa 13, but I unsubscribed from him due to him not editing his videos a whole lot, and just going in to "Screaming" Comedy.

Quite a fair amount of the "Skeptic" community on youtube just due to their change in the topics that they talk about, changing from religion to politicks I just kind of realised that I don't really agree with a whole lot of what they said outside of their topics on religion. Plus that whole community has just become very aggressive and quite intolerant of anyone that doesn't share their views.

Here's a list of YouTubers I unsubscribed from.

I used to love ihascupquake's content, but I started becoming annoyed with her content, since I started finding it boring. It didn't help the games she was playing didn't interest me at all.

There is Pewdiepie, who I unsubbed from for reasons many Tropers have stated above. I must thank him for introducing me to Horror RPG maker games.

Then there is The Fine Bros. I was uninterested in their content for a while, but then the React World thing happened. I became so furious with them, that I unsubbed and made a vow that I'd never watch any of their videos again. I must thank them for making Kids React to Vocaloid, the video that introduced me to it, but still, that React World. I can't forgive people who are greedy at heart.

Oh yeah, and Markiplier for reasons similar to ihascupquake.

Most of the Skeptic community I left when it became less about critical analysis and often about making fun of others. There's a few I've still subscribed to mostly because they still do analysis of certain sorts, although it's usually not political in nature.

After Buzz TV - I only subscribed because they sometimes have DC Movie News on that instead of Popcorn Talk. I unsubscribed because they put out too many videos everyday; they put out about 20 videos a day that are all over an hour long and I was sick of them clogging my subscription feed. I resubscribed because I liked their coverage of Ash vs Evil Dead.

I think I will unsubscribe again.

Edit* I unsubscribed again today.

Like many people, I unsubbed from The Fine Bros. after the whole "React World" thing, but that wasn't the only reason why I did it. A while earlier, I saw their "Kids React to Can Your Pet", and I was horrified! How could they do that to those children?! I had meant to unsub at that moment, but I kinda forgot to. For a while, I had forgotten that I was still subscribed to them! But then "React World" came up, so I just took the opportunity to unsub then.

[down] Here you go.
