A Game of Gods Season 3: Terminus

Go To

There is a legend spoken across a myriad of worlds, a tale of a tower between worlds. Called the Tower of War by some, the Devouring Tower by others and the Tower of Gods by most. The story goes that at a time of great conflict and crisis, a great Tower appeared. A construct of jet black metal, it stretched into the skies to a height where none could see the top. And at the base of the Tower, a black and gold gate unlocked.

Here, the stories diverge. Some tell of a band of heroes emerging, bringing an end to dictators and those who would let conflict rage. Others tell of demons and evil beings spilling out from the Tower and covering the world in an eternal darkness. And others say that those who dared to enter never returned.

But all tales agree on one point. After a period, sometimes days, sometimes years, the Tower vanished, leaving behind a world forever marked by its arrival and legends in its wake. And the fate of those whom the Tower had swallowed was left in the hands of the Gods.

Greetings traveller, and welcome to the Tower. You have been chosen to climb its steps of black stone and seek the top where the Ruler awaits. Me? I am but a blind locksmith, forever cursed to lead those who would climb the Tower and explain how to proceed. At the top of this Tower awaits your reward should you succeed. Riches beyond your imagination, knowledge that surpasses that of the greatest thinkers, weapons that would pluck the sun out of the sky and treasures of technology that would make anyone a king of their world. And, should you wish to, a way home, just how you left.

Oh, do I sense hostility? Rebellion? Righteous anger, directed towards the Ruler for taking you from your home? Oh yes, you would not be the first. Certainly, the one responsible for your being here also awaits at the top. Would you like to strike them down? Take revenge for your treatment? Or take on the mantle of Ruler of the Tower yourself?

Yes, yes! For such is the nature of the Tower! At the top, your heart’s greatest desires! But to win, you must play the games that the gods dictate!

Ah, now you are listening? You wish to know how to play? Very well. You will climb the Tower one floor at a time. Each floor have the stairs to the next floor, locked. But each floor also has a black and gold gate that leads to a different world, locations unimaginable or locales familiar. From that world, a world embroiled in chaos and strife, you must locate the key that will grant you passage to the next floor. Will it be the crown of a king? The last coin of a beggar? The song of an animal? I will be able to tell you what it is, but you must find it by yourselves. And then you return here, and you can progress to the next floor.

A simple idea, but a difficult task. Travel the myriad of worlds that this Tower connects to, recover the keys and climb! Ascend towards the heavens, towards the reward that awaits above!

Climb!

Rules

First of all, please respect the forum rules and the RP subsection rules.

One character per player, please. We’d also like to keep powerlevels at a reasonable standard, but anything can be nerfed. Even if you think your character is too powerful, send them our way and we’ll discuss it. Rule of thumb, though: if your character can cause or fix natural disasters single-handedly in a short length of time, expect some nerfs.

Please keep to general R Ping etiquette. No ghosting (simply ignoring any attacks sent your character’s way); no autohitting (whether your character’s attack lands is up to the other player, not you); no taking control of other people’s characters, etc. Of course, these being etiquette and not laws, you can make breaches if they’re discussed with the other player beforehand.

The only real rule is that GM rulings are final, and must be obeyed, though if you have objections these rulings can be politely discussed. The GMs for Season 3 are Meanken, Makaioh and Lemurian.

Hey G Ms, is it too late to sign-up? 'Cause I have a new character sheet prepared.

~~~~~~
Name: Hinata Hyuuga
Age: 13
Appearance:
The White Lily of the Hyuuga Clan
Princess of the Byakugan
Universe: Naruto
Personality: A rather shy and timid girl, Hinata has all the classic symptoms of social anxiety. She would much rather observe people from a distance (preferably behind an object) rather than go out in the open and greet new people. Once you get past her shell, however, you will find a genuinely kind and gentle girl with none of the insincerity and deceit one would associate with her line of work.
Despite her outward shyness, she has a surprising amount of bravery and work ethic that impresses even Naruto. She may not go looking for fights, but if the life of her friends and comrades are in danger, she will not hesitate to rush forward into likely death to protect them. Like any good shonen hero(ine), she values her friends highly.
Outside of combat, she does not seek out conflict, and is a very polite and respectful person to anyone she meets. Even people she dislikes will be met simply with frosty politeness or at worst, the cold shoulder. It is a rare day indeed when someone actually makes Hinata riled up enough to get violent (physicaly or verbally), and woe betide that unlucky bastard.
Backstory:
As the eldest child of Hiashi Hyuuga, head of the Hyuuga Clan, it was therefore taken for granted that she would be the heiress to the leadership of her clan. However, given her demonstrated timidity in both her ninja studies and training sessions with her father, a feeling begin to arise within members of the clan, that she may not be entirely suited for the role of clan leader, much less a ninja.
As a child, Hinata was nearly kidnapped by ninja from Kumogakure, supposedly on a diplomatic mission to Konoha. Her father killed them, setting in motion what is now known as the Hyuuga Affair, which led to the death of her uncle and the resentment of her cousin Neji Hyuuga, due to Kumo denying any involvement and demanding comphensation for the death of their ninja.
Some time later, Hinata's younger sister, Hanabi, began to show prodigious talent, causing their father to reconsider Hinata's role as future heiress. One day, he pitted them against each other, sister against sister, in a Secret Test of Character. While both of them held their own, Hinata was ultimately unable to truly harm Hanabi (a trait that Hanabi did not share) resulting in Hinata losing, and Hanabi being named the new heiress.
Some time after that, Hinata was saved from several bullies by Naruto. He was knocked unconscious in the process, but his actions (and watching his continual hard work to achieve his dreams despite the odds against him) inspired her to never give up in regaining her father's approval, someday.
Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
The Byakugan: The signature bloodline limit of the Hyuuga clan, the Byakugan manifests as eyes with large and featureless lavender irises with no visible pupil. When activated, the pupils become more distinct and the veins near their temples bulge. The Byakugan allows her to see in a 360-degree radius around her, up to a range of 500 metres in it's current state, and can pass through most solid objects and other obstructions.
Arguably, though, the Byakugan's greatest ability is it's ability to perceive the chakra (for the purposes of this RP, I'd fluff that the magic systems of the worlds visited are more or less similar enough that the Byakugan can also perceive their energies as well, though perhaps with more difficulty given their unfamiliarity with outside forms of magic), and how they flow within the bodies of others. Similar to the scents picked up by a dog, Hinata can become familiar enough with the "look" of a person's magical energy to recognise spells cast by that person, and be able to recognise magical illusions on close observation.
The Byakugan's only weakness is a narrow blind spot that extends in the shape of a cone from the back of the neck (just above the first thoracic vertebra). This blind spot is a fiercely-guarded secret by the Hyuuga Clan, and it is unlikely for anybody but the super-intelligent and/or the hyper-observant to be able to notice it.
Maintaining the use of the Byakugan also expends effort (like contracting a muscle), so extended usage will result in significant eye-strain.
Gentle Fist Style: Hinata practices a semi-magical martial art known as the Gentle Fist Style, which involves the use of the Byakugan to perceive the chakra pathways flowing through an opponent and block their jutsu usage. Practitioners then used chakra-induced palm strikes to target and block off points in those chakra pathways, resulting in a decreased ability or even inability to use jutsu, internal damage to organs (due to their close proximity to the pathways) as well as paralysis in the effected limb. One does not need to exert much force into these strikes to achieve this effect, thus "Gentle Fist".
In terms of this RP, I'll let you G Ms decide how effective this martial art is against non-Naruto-verse enemies. For myself, I would say that human/humanoid enemies generally have pressure points that can be targeted for great damage even if they don't use any magic (Think Mai from Avatar), and the expelling of chakra from the hands might also make it useful for damaging noncorporeal/spiritual entities. This style would be way less effective on non-magical constructs (e.g. robots) though.
Social Graces: Being the (former) heiress of her very high-status clan, she was therefore trained extensively in manners and etiquette. Granted, most of these were for the Japanese-style culture as the one she was born in, but most worlds in fiction have similar-enough standards for ettiquette that some of it is bound to carry over.
Why have they been picked to climb the Tower?:
As powerful as the group is, they could certainly use members with more tact and grace. They may be able to steamroll the opposition for now, but what happens when they anger somebody that they couldn't hope to take down, even all together? That is when diplomancy kicks in, and characters like Hinata might help. Her training in social graces may help when the party has to interact with royalty and the like, which overlaps with my first point.
For purely Doylist reasons, I just like Hinata in general. Yes, there are other characters I'm familiar with that can fill the diplomatic role way better, but playing Hinata allows me to write Character Development for her from a shy but determined girl to Badass, and then maybe completely conflubing her friends and family when she finally gets back. That's gonna be fun to write. :D
@Lemurian: For the purposes of this RP, I will have Birdy only travel as fast as highway speed as her speed limit and as for her strength-limit, she would only be strong enough to lift and/or destroy heavy artillery (i.e. a tank). I'll nerf her more at the GM's request if needed. smile
  • Name: Weiss Schnee
  • Age: 17
  • Appearance: There she is!and here too.
  • Universe: RWBY
  • Personality: Weiss has ben called the "ice queen" by several people and with a good reason. Similar to her friend Blake, she is very cold on the outside, but she can warm to people once you get to know her. She can be snobby and grumpy to strangers and specially proud and protective of her heritage, an attitude that might drive others away. She can be a bit bossy and a bit obsessed with standing out. But she can warm a lot once she considers you one of her close friends.
The promotional video mirror mirror coupled with some episodes on volume 4 hint that Weiss might have felt lonely and probably foreign to the concept of "true friend" until she warms to team RWBY that is. ( Even then season's 3 ending isolated her from them putting her in a depressed state.)
She is also a bit of a rebel and this is shown in her asimetric hairstyle. Though she also can be very loyal and on rare ocassions she can show a more laid back side of herself. In combat she is highly strategic and cold; often preferring to to think for the right moment before she strikes.
  • Backstory: Born from a prestigious and rich family Weiss has received any material possession she could possibly want. However there have been hints of a hard family situation and some conflicts with a terrorist organization known as "the white fang" has made her have a harsher childhood than she should have had. Her father as been very "dominant" to put it mildly and this has affected her views on her family.
Opposing the wishes of her father she joined Beacon academy to become a huntress ( which are like heroes that defend the world from monsters called Grimm). As luck would have it she soon joined forces with the rest of team RWBY. Though team RWBY has a opposed the villains to the best of their abilities they have missed the big picture of the villains so far, and it is very clear that the world they live in has much more secrets than it seems. A series of catastrophes have forced her in the battlefield and tested the bond with her friends and her own strength.
Powers/Abilities
  • Singing: She has a great voice.
  • Aura: It's an energy barrier that shields her from damage and is an extension of her soul. Although this makes her more damage resistant than a baseline human, she is very frail. Could probably take some bullet hits before they would damage her.
    • It can heal minor wounds.
    • Aura can refill after some time between battles.
  • Master fencer: Weiss is a master at using a rapier
  • Super human Agility and dexterity: Due to her frailty Weiss is much more likely to dodge than tank and attack. Though this doesn't mean "ghosting" but rather it just means that her style of fighting is more focused in precision with damage resistance being a weakness.
  • Semblance:Glyphs.
Glyphs are circular disk that in general have the power to: repulse and attract. In general they have shown this abilities:
  • Shield repulsion: This glyph pushes objects away (like bullets)
  • Solid platforms that can be stepped on even mid air.
  • Time dilatation: Increases speed and time reaction to herself and her allies.
  • Propulsion: they can launch her self and others like a Mario Bros trampoline (but faster)
  • Slipery plataform: She can "skate" in the plataform.
  • Gravitational attraction: Meaning that she and others stick to the glyph.
  • Dust manipulation: It gives her the ability to control the shape and manifestation of dust.
In case that explanation was too abstract, Here they can be seen in action:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt9vl8iAN5Q
  • Summoning: Which in game terms means that she could summon NP Cs she had previously beaten. Canonically she hasn't being able to use this ability successfully yet.
Equipment:
  • Myrtenaster
    • It is a dust rapier that holds a special several chambers of dust, this has given it the classification as "multi action dust rapier." It also helps her to focus her glyphs.
  • Dust: A primordial elemental substance that holds the elements in a mostly crystaline state but it can also be found in powder form. Naturally it is in limited quantity and they would need to be replenished. It also helps her control her glyphs via hand gestures. Note: Naturally she is not the avatar (Aang or Korra) so these abilities are very dependent on her amount of ammo and semblance control.She can't "bend" them outside of her semblance.
    • Fire (red colored dust.) Can send flames in a general direction.
    • Ice (blue colored dust): Can create ice and it is her most used one. Among the shapes that it can get are ice walls . This is the one she has the most off.
    • Water dust: Ability to summon water
    • Earth dust: Ability to generate earth
    • Lightning (yellow colored dust)
    • Wind: (White colored dust)
  • Scroll: An iPhone like device that presumably can do whatever any smartphone can do. Plus it can monitor her Aura levels.
Why does she want to climb the tower? Weiss is a person that wants to prove herself and she wants to defend the honor of her family. The riches of the tower would definitively take her attention, not because she lacks any money but because she wants to prove she can look for herself ( a choice her sister Winter failed).
I apologize most profusely for the wait. Hinata Hyuuga and Weiss Schnee are accepted!
@Cole: Well, I'm not as much worried about you making stuff up as the potential for revealing things to and about the characters that the players might not want to have out in the open immediately. tongue But Cole is accepted. smile
@mrstack: That is a bit much, I'm afraid, but not by much. The approximate max strength we've accepted in the past is about enough to lift a truck, and for speed it's an absolute max of 75 miles/120 kms per hour in a straight line (significantly less for turning). If you edit that in, Birdy is accepted.
Hopefully this will be my last signup.
  • Name: Momiji Binboda
  • Age: Over a hundred, mentally around high school age.
  • Appearance: "Give me your fortune.~"
  • Universe: Binbougami Ga
  • Personality: Sarcastic, lazy, and apathetic would be the words that could describe Momiji at first glance due to her general unkempt appearance and stoic face. However, the Misfortune Goddess is in actuality quite enthusiastic and stubborn once you interest her enough, able to focus her horrendously hidden amounts of energy towards the pursuit of a single goal with great impunity. it take a lot for her to ever show her true emotions due to playing the part of a fool most of the time and firmly believes in the school of hard knocks to help solve people's problems, preferring to play the role of the villain to urge people on to become better people. Is rather surprisingly nice and pleasant when she's actually honest with her feelings though that's a very rare event in general. Enjoys teasing people and pushing their buttons, though believes greatly in the inherent goodness of the human race in general despite her cynicism. Has a personality that becomes the exact opposite of her regular attitude when forced to go through a thorough "cleansing", becoming extroverted and kind ideal of what a Japanese woman should be.
  • Backstory: Born as a Goddess of Misfortune after a particularly tragic accident in the human world back in the past, Momiji is actually made from half of a unlucky man that holds ridiculous amounts of karma both positive and negative. Due to her unique birth, the girl in question grew up to be rather emotionally stunted and apathetic, refusing to ever put her best efforts in anything until the day she was sent to redistribute the good karma that one Sakura Ichigo, a target of such infuriatingly good fortune that the world itself bends over backwards to keep her lucky. It was through their conflicts that Momiji began to shed her apathy and found the world to be more interesting, turning into a Trickster Mentor and later on even fighting against the heavens and traversing Yomi itself in order to help her friend out.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment: Being a Goddess of Misfortune (Binbougami), Momiji is crafted from a completely different material than those of the mundane world and thus has to use a specially crafted effigy in the shape of a featureless human doll to materialize in the physical plane. As a result, this cuts down on the amount of godly power she can materialize and limits her abilities. For the purpose of this rp though, we can just skip the doll body thing altogether while keeping the doll body limitations or else she'd have to be double tapped as a soul just to die. Still, being a goddess means she's more powerful than a regular human considering she can jump two stories in a single bound and come out from being smashed into stone and metal without breaking her bones as easily as a regular human. Fittingly for her name, she has abilities geared around "misfortune" and due to her goddess powers, can interact with normally intangible beings such as ghosts or spirits.
    • Cursed Arm: Like all Gods themed after "Misfortune", they have negative karma concentrated somewhere on a part of their body, which in Momiji's case is located in her right arm. As a result of such potent curses, it is wrapped up in a cast to prevent her from tainting the world with its influence over a long period of time (and as a result she is really good at only using a single arm to perform tasks or using the cast Power Puff Girls style). Sometimes though, Momiji will briefly unleash her might by unwrapping the container and influencing the surroundings with her bad luck. The limit to this ability is that it can only influence something that makes sense, such as causing an already falling tree to lean in the direction where it can do the most harm or causing a really faulty car engine to explode due to it being old so she can't do something like suddenly summon rabid weasels in a place where there should be none. A more advanced subset of the cursed arm is the ability to summon half a dozen undead samurai warriors to beset the opponent like a zombie apocalypse who would then physically attack the enemy with their samurai weapons and inject her negative energies directly into them.
    • Fortune Stealing Hypothermic Needle: A giant hypothermic needle that does as it says on the tin, being able to either suck out or inject karma into someone it successfully penetrates. Is surprisingly sturdy and won't break when smashed by a mallet or while clashing with a katana. Summoning it means Momiji can't use her cursed right arm since it transfigures said arm into the item in question. Does no physical damage if the needle pokes through but hurts like the dickens though she can turn on the physical damage property if she so wishes.
    • Kumagai: Her extremely strange looking familiar that takes the form of a stuffed animal with a weird face. Can take a shocking high amount of damage, especially blunt due to the fact that it's a stuffed animal. Its belly is used as a Bag of Holding for Momiji to take her Tools of Misfortune from as well as store weird things inside, roughly the size of a closet. Is strong for his size, able to knock a grown man unconscious in one blow via the element of surprise and can assume a human form via the effigy system that Momiji uses to become a middle aged man for short periods of time. In this form he can actually talk and has the added power of him having a body that doesn't belong to a stuffed animal one third his master's size.
    • Limited Shapeshifting: Momiji has the power to transform into a small floating chibi head that lets her phase through non-moving non-organic un-sanctified objects such as earth or metals and fly high speeds at the expense of not being able to interact with anything, the intangibility being something she can only do for one second every minute. Her other form turns her into a giant floating corporeal head that is five times heavier than her human form and can use her hair as tentacles to entangle, constrict, whip, and smash the enemy. Also can mess around with her human physique to look like she grew muscles and came out of the works of Jojos/Fist of the North Star or stretch her limbs out three times longer than she should be able to by inhaling air or eating enough mass to constitute the physical change.
    • Misfortune Gadget Series: A line of zany gadgets made by the strange people in the Misfortune God World that Momiji uses to confuse the hell out of people. She has the Instant Costume Changer (which can instantly transform her clothes into any other mundane outfit she wants), the Excitement Gakuran (a pair of both male and female school uniforms that boosts the physical abilities of the human wearing it by twice their previous limits depending on their excitement levels), the Karma Compass (which points to places with obvious imbalance in the natural order). and the Binbougami Bombs (which are basically explosives powered by excess Misfortune energy that behaves like mundane grenades except that it can harm spiritual entities as well).
    • Last but not least of the item series she has on hand are a roll of bandages that can grab any two things to slam them together and fuse them into a new entity such as a roll of toilet paper and paper money into a roll of toilet paper made entirely out of printed currency, or fusing two people together to make an entirely new person piloted by their respective original personalities while the new body holds both the people's abilities added together with their original abilities and skills stacked together. In some cases though, the additive abilities can cancel the positive qualities like Momiji plus a super frail person would actually make the new entity stronger than the weak person but weaker than her original form. The bandages can't be used without another player's consent and the fusion effect only lasts for a single minute.
I'd like to claim back Cassius Young and post the following signup.
  • Name: Kubo
  • Age: 12
  • Appearance: "If you must blink, do it now..."
  • Universe: Kubo And The Two Strings
  • Personality: Playful and inquisitive, Kubo harbors the imagination and curiosity of a normal twelve-year old child. He respects his elders, but isn't afraid to poke fun at their ways or traditions. Sometimes, he might make fun of an authority figure for the hell of it. Kubo also has a strange kind of cynicism deep inside his soul, for after years of taking care of his own mother, Kubo finds it harder and harder to believe in the grand stories that make up our world... except for the stories involving his late father, the only thing that can make Kubo's little mind wonder.
  • Backstory: In ancient Japan, Kubo was born out of the union of an ex-goddess, Sariatu, and a human samurai, Hanzo, but he never got to experience their love, for his grandfather, the Moon King, killed Hanzo and removed one of Kubo's eyes when he was still just a little baby, forcing Sariatu to escape with her child. During this escape, the Moon King managed to get in one last strike, causing an accident that severely injured Sariatu. As the years passed, her mental condition only worsened, and now Kubo takes care of her every single day on their musty cavern home. Whenever he has time (or needs money), he goes over to the nearby seaside village where he performs for adoring crowds, telling stories about his father's feats. But he must always return during the night, or else his mother's sisters will find him, and remove his remaining eye.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
    • The Magical Shamisen: Kubo has a shamisen that used to belong to his mother, and as such is imbued with powerful magic capable of bringing paper to life. Depending on the tune he plays, Kubo can create constructs of various sizes (from little people to full on boats), but every tune requires his concentration, since something as simple as an unexpected ringing bell can distract him and put an end to his magic.
      • If any of the Terminus' characters teach Kubo new songs, he should be able to gain new magical abilities. Of course, magic requires much more than a song- it needs a story, and for that story to have power, Kubo needs to have a personal connection to said character. (And this will only happen with GM permission).
    • Kubo is somewhat of an okay swordsman. He still has a lot to learn, but he won't completely fumble around if you give him a sword.
  • Why have they been picked to climb the Tower?: Kubo's storytelling abilities have the potential to unite the team and give everyone a common goal (as well as helping him regain his faith in the idea that maybe there's more to the world than his life, the cave and the village).
  • Name: Guts
  • Age: In his early twenties, but he easily looks nearly a decade older
  • Appearance: "If you're always worried about crushing the ants beneath your feet, you won't be able to walk."
  • Universe: Berserk
  • Personality: Anti-social to the point of hostility, seemingly lacking in empathy, and absolutely hates being touched, Guts is a man who has many wounds, and hides them behind the veneer of the Black Swordsman, a feared warrior, shrouded in mystery, the one thing anyone knows about him being that he leaves a trail of horror and destruction in his wake. Guts lives true to his title, as he only feels alive in the heat of battle, often drowning himself in the sheer adrenaline and becoming the very beast many think him to be. However, if by some freak miracle, you find him in a lucid moment, he proves himself to be a very introspective, sensitive man.
  • Backstory:
    • As if to foretell the twisted life ahead of him, Guts' mother was hung from a tree while in labor, and baby Guts himself was birthed from her corpse. Found by a traveling band of mercenaries, he was taken in and taught the way of war, learning to wield a sword at the age of six and taking his first life at the age of nine. One night, the band's leader and Guts' adopted father, Gambino, picked up a sword and tried to run him through in a drunken stupor. Guts killed him in self defense. The rest of the band, in revenge, chased him to his seeming death off of a cliff, never to see him again.
    • Years later, Guts finds himself as part of a new band of mercenaries, the one known as the Band of the Hawk, which would eventually be known as the 'Death on the Battlefield'. Their exploits were legendary, due in no small part to the genius of their leader, Griffith. Under him, the Hawks secured many victories for the Kingdom of Midland during the hundred year war, and even played a direct part in winning the war by taking Doldrey, a fortress of tactical significance that had proven itself to be impregnable in the past century. Not only that, Guts had finally found friendship and love within the Hawks. Things were looking up.
    • Unfortunately, with a desire to examine himself and find a greater purpose in life, Guts decided to leave the Band of the Hawk. Not one year passes when he hears of how the Hawks had fallen apart in his absence, with Griffith captured by the King of Midland and the rest of the Hawks wanted dead for high treason.
    • Guts returns for the sake of his friends, and they successfully rescue their beloved leader, but fate is not so kind as to give them recourse, for a series of cosmic coincidences and circumstances puts them at the center of the once-in-a-two-hundred-year event known as the Eclipse.
    • No one knows what truly happened in the Eclipse, only that the entire Band of the Hawk is slaughtered, with few exceptions. And the only one who seems to know what went down in there was Guts, and it has fucked him up for life. Bearing new physical and mental scars on top of his old ones, Guts equips himself for a new journey, and so begins the crusade of the Black Swordsman, who challenges the demonic Apostles with one goal in mind; revenge against Griffith.
  • Abilities:
    • Master Swordsman: Guts was trained since childhood in swordsmanship, and has become one of the most renowned warriors in his history for his efforts, once having slain a hundred enemy soldiers in a single battle near singlehandedly. His reflexes and strength allow him to wield even the largest, most cumbersome weapons with some semblance of grace.
    • Resilience: Guts has grown up bathed in the blood of his enemies and covered in wounds. Thus, he has a fairly high pain tolerance, sometimes to the point of self-destruction (hope we got good medics on the team).
    • Brand of Sacrifice: A strange brand on the back of Guts' neck that he's had ever since the Eclipse. Whenever there is nearby demonic presence, he bleeds from it and experiences pain relative to the power of the demon.
  • Equipment:
    • Metallic arm: Guts' prosthetic left arm. It comes equipped with a magnet that allows him to wield swords with it.
    • The Dragonslayer: Guts' sword that he wields with ease. A massive, thick, iron number that's as tall as a man, this blade has an interesting tale to it; it was deliberately created to be unusable to make a point; dragons are dragons because humans can't kill them. So what's a human that kills dragons?
    • Throwing Knives: Adopted from an old friend. Kept in a belt across Guts' chest; these throwing knives come in handy when he needs a long range attack in a pinch and his crossbow isn't loaded.
    • Repeating Crossbow: A ranged weapon that Guts attaches to his fake arm; it comes with a turning handle that lets Guts fire arrows rapidly, at a rate of perhaps two arrows a second. Naturally, Guts only comes with a limited number of arrows.
    • Hidden Cannon: A cannon hidden in Guts' fake arm, activated by pulling a rope that comes out the side of his arm. The barrel is hidden in Guts' wrist, and his fake hand falls out to reveal it. This weapon must also be reloaded with cannonballs and gunpowder.
  • Why have they been picked to climb the Tower?: Guts is a machine of war; and though he doesn't provide much else, he is a terrifying enemy on the battlefield, essentially giving the team a proverbial 'Godzilla' to sic on foes. He is, however, reckless, and will need to be partnered with a good medic.
I don't know if this is still open or not. If it's not, I guess these two can be considered reserve characters? Also, I hope it's okay that I'm using two characters. It'd feel odd to seperate these two.
Also, more Pokemon Sun/Moon spoilers ahead. I'll try to minimize them at least in the early stages, and I also took them from a really early point in the plot where all the spoilers are backstory-only, and this character isn't the sort to be really open about that at first.
  • Universe (Both): Pokémon Sun and Moon
  • Name: Lillie
  • Age: Somewhere around 11
  • Appearance: Best dork.
  • Personality:
    • Outwardly, Lillie is a friendly, but shy and decidedly socially awkward girl who tends to let other people make decisions for her. She's mostly a pacifist, who dislikes seeing Pokemon get hurt.
    • However, this exterior belies a hidden hardness. She's very willing to help the people she cares about, and if she sets her mind to something she's generally pretty determined to see it through.
  • Backstory:
    • Lillie was born the daughter of Aether President Lusamine and her husband Mohn, alongside her brother Gladion.
    • Her early life was pleasant enough, with her family having the same kind of fun moments that all have despite their being the leading family of a Pokemon conservatory/laboratory in Alola.
    • Among Aether's numerous experiments were studies into the existence of other dimensions, as well as transport to and from these dimensions. It was one of these experiments went horribly wrong, resulting in Mohn getting lost. He turned out okay in the end, but the rest of his family had no way of knowing that.
    • Lusamine drove herself crazy trying to find him again, becoming more and more abusive towards her children in the process and leading to Aether's experiments becoming more and more unethical.
    • Lillie's life got even harder when Gladion kidnapped one of Aether's creations, the synthetic Pokemon Type: Null, and fled. This left her dealing with Lusamine's abuse all alone.
    • Her biggest comfort during this time was another subject of Aether research: A rare Pokemon called Cosmog. She befriended it and nicknamed it Nebby.
    • Aether's experiments on Cosmog eventually got to the point where Lillie decided to follow in his footsteps. She took Cosmog and made a run for it. She almost failed, but a timely Teleport from Cosmog saved them both, albeit at the cost of Cosmog falling unconscious for three months.
    • Sometime after all this she met the local Pokemon Professor Kukui and his wife Burnett, and wound up becoming his assistant.
    • Nebby eventually recovered, and the two of them wound up becoming unofficial members of Kukui's family. Or at the very least, Lillie saw them as surrogate parents.
    • In the time since her life's been generally pleasant. She and Cosmog have been living in Kukui's lab, helping him with whatever he might need. She tries to keep Nebby hidden from all but a select few, for its own sake. She's not always successful.
    • Lately Nebby has wanted to go visit the Ruins of Alola's Island Guardians, and Lillie has decided to help it with this goal. However, it was around this time that she got picked to participate in some great inter-dimensional challenge, putting that plan on hold.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment: Lillie doesn't have any skills worth noting. Woo.
  • Name: Cosmog, nickname Nebby
  • Age: Unknown, but probably very old.
  • Appearance: Pew~!
  • Personality: Carefree, curious, and a horrible judge of character. That's Nebby for you. Left to its own devices it'll happy wander around, investigating anything and taking an immediate liking to anyone who treats it even slightly nicely.
  • Backstory:
    • At some point in the distant past, Cosmog appeared in the Alola region from places unknown. For the longest time, it was a Pokemon only known to kings, and gained the name "Child of the Stars."
    • At some unknown later point, it fell into the hands of the Aether Foundation, who extensively researched it for its ability to open up portals to other dimensions. During its time here it gained the attention of the president's daughter Lillie, who befriended it and gave it the nickname Nebby.
    • Eventually, Aether's experiments got unethical to the point where Lillie just couldn't take it anymore. She took Cosmog and tried to escape. It was only successful due to Nebby teleporting the two of them out of there, although the strain knocked it out for three months.
    • In the time since then, Nebby has been as happy as it usually is. It doesn't particularly like having to stay in Lillie's bag most of the time, but that's fairly understandable.
    • Lately it's been wanting to visit the Ruins of Alola's Island Guardians. Lillie has taken it upon herself to help it in this quest, but getting kidnapped and forced to participate in a bunch of challenges has put a bit of a damper on this little quest.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment: Despite being a Pokemon, Nebby doesn't have a lot of abilities to its name.
    • Nebby is mostly made of cosmic gas, and has all the properties one would expect. That being said, it's still solid enough to be hurt.
    • Nebby's ability is Unaware. In other words, it's so ignorant that it won't notice if someone's powered themselves up. If said someone attacks it, it'll be as if they never powered up at all. That being said, Nebby is not particularly resilient and won't be lasting long despite this.
      • I'm really not sure how to describe how this ability works in RP terms. If there's really no way to make it work I'll be happy to ignore it.
    • Nebby's two moves are Splash and Teleport.
      • Splash just makes it hop around without doing anything, except maybe be a cute distraction.
      • Teleport is considerably more useful. As the name suggests, this lets Nebby teleport itself and everyone around it to anywhere they've been before. However, this is very exhausting for it; even a short distance is tiring, and more extreme distances can lead to it falling unconscious or even dying.
    • As an extension of Teleport, it can open up portals to other dimensions if pressed enough. However, this has the same limitations as Teleport and naturally wouldn't work in the RP anyway.
  • Why have they been picked to climb the Tower?: Lillie doesn't bring a whole lot to the table, and neither does Cosmog, so it's anyone's guess as to why they were picked. Perhaps Lillie could make for a great heart, or Nebby could be good for comic relief. Or maybe because the Ruler wanted to see if Lillie could keep Nebby in the fucking bag.
Heya, I'm back and I won't be playing Genji anymore. Instead I'll be going with someone different.
  • Name: Asgore Dreemur
  • Age: Unknown, potentially millenia old
  • Appearance: Now, now. There's no need to fight. Why not settle this... Over a nice cup of tea? (about 9'7 in height, 8'6 not counting the horns)
  • Universe: Undertale
  • Personality: Asgore is soft-spoken and gentle, as well as very friendly towards pretty much everyone. He's very much a pacifist in nature and will always try to talk his way out of a conflict, however he will fight if he has no other choice left. He has a very strong sense of duty and cares deeply about the well-being of all those he considers dear, going from his family and friends to all of his subjects and is willing to go as far as sacrificing his morals for the greater good if need be. He is very fond of tea and gardening and is terrible at naming things.
  • Backstory:
    • Asgore was the king of monsterkind during the war in which the humans sealed away him and his kind underground with a barrier spell. Asgore kept ruling over the monsters, trying to make the most of what they had available to them in the Underground. However, everything changed when a human fell into his kingdom and was found by his son, Asriel. Asgore and his wife were more than glad to take the human child in and raise them as one of his own, however the child eventually fell sick and died. Asriel then absorbed the child's soul and with that power he was able to cross the barrier to the village of the humans, where he would lay their sibling's body to rest on a bed of flowers. However, the humans though Asriel had killed the child and attacked him, mortally wounding him. Asriel died as soon as he arrived back in Asgore's castle, his dust spreading across the garden.
    • In a fit of anger over having lost both of his children in one night, Asgore declared war. Every human that fell into the Underground was to die and have their soul taken so that with the combined power of seven human souls they would be able to free themselves from the Underground and destroy humanity. However, his wife was disgusted with that course of action and left him. Now alone and regretting his decisions, Asgore found himself unable to go back on his word as that would crush all hopes of freedom from his people. Against all of his morals, he had every human who fell be killed so he could take their souls.
    • After managing to get six souls, the seventh human to fall in the Underground ended up befriending monsterkind and eventually, through means Asgore himself doesn't quite understand, the human child managed to break the barrier and set monsters free. Monsters and humans were thankfully able to live together in peace and Asgore was now finally free to be the king he wanted to be, although the guilt over his past actions still haunted him.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
    • Soul Damage: Asgore's magic not only harms the body of the target, but it also hurts their soul, making them more dangerous than one would expect. This does mean that creatures that lack a soul such as most robots will not take as much damage from his magic, however
    • Fire Magic: Asgore's main form of magic, it manifests mostly in the form of fireballs which he can use in a variety of ways such as making a stream of them that stays in place for a moment before flying towards the opponent's position, making a circle of fireballs that then tries to close in on the opponent and simply shooting them in erratic patterns to catch his opponents offguard.
    • Magic Trident: Asgore is capable of summoning a red trident at will. The trident is normally solid, however he can use magic to turn it orange or blue, which makes the trident only being capable of damaging targets that are standing still or moving, respectively.
    • Magic Control: Asgore has superb control over the power of his magic, being capable of making it just strong enough to leave an opponent too hurt to keep fighting without putting their life in risk.
    • Enhanced Physical Strength: Being a big guy, Asgore is significantly stronger and tougher than a regular human, however, not to Super-Strength levels.
    • Immortality: Being a boss monster, Asgore can only age as long as he has a child, however since Asriel is gone and he has no other child, he's currently incapable of aging. He can still be killed by other means though.
    • A monster's fighting ability depends heavily on their emotional state, as such, if Asgore does not wish to fight someone or is just generally not in a good emotional state, his power and defenses will be significantly weaker. He is also greatly affected by the enemies' killing intent and the more violent the person attacking him is, the more their attacks will hurt him.
  • Why have they been picked to climb the Tower: Asgore is a natural, benevolent leader who is more than willing to assist people with their problems, making him a strong source of moral support along with being a powerful fighter.
Sign-Ups are indeed still open, I'm just a bit slow with reviewing, sorry. smile
I assume that Nebby's teleport still has the in-game limitation of only working when travelling to places that they've been to before? If yes, Lillie and Nebby are accepted. smile
And Asgore is accepted.
Characters will be added to character list shortly. smile Your characters will have been transported to the Tower while asleep and waking up there. For simplicity's sake, they arrived around the same time as the recent batch of newcomers, and would have been given these explanations.
I actually didn't have that limitation in mind (I was thinking from a story perspective rather than the actual in-game use of the move), but now that I think of it it can assumed to be present. And if it wasn't I'd still be happy with adding it for the purposes of the RP.
Speaking of adding equipment, in the time between my signup half a year ago and today, Blizzard released some new emotes for D.Va, and one of them included new information about her mech. I would like to add these things to her loadout, but I understand if they are overpowered and break the balance of the game. They are:
  • D.Va's: A bag of chips named after D.Va. It can be dispensed from where her left joystick is located.
  • Soda: A can of soda, it can be dispensed from where her right joystick is located.
Presumably the mech only carries one of each, but it gets refreshed every time it gets summoned from her wristband (at least every 5 minutes or so, to avoid rapid infinite food generation).
  • Name: Tanya Degurechaff/Degurechov/Degtyaryov
  • Age: 12
  • Appearance: "All I want is a peaceful life."
  • Universe: Youjo Senki
  • Personality: Tanya is an interesting girl that strongly believes that any and all humans should be broadminded and think for themselves, being extremely liberal in her beliefs. However, she is also highly practical and well-studied in human psychology and thus puts up a facade of a "perfect soldier" to try to make herself seem like something she's not in order to get promotions and rewards as fast as possible, using patriotism as a front for material and worldly gains. Though at heart she dislikes conflicts of any kind and is a heavy promoter for peace, past circumstances have ingrained a sort of battlefield mentality upon her mind- a sort of switch if you will that makes her be able to kill the other side and not feel an iota of guilt.
    • Extremely charismatic and two-faced, Tanya is a manipulative person that actually has the unique mindset of "build up those worthy in order to help thyself" as opposed to being greedy and siphoning all the usefulness out of the surrounding people. Believes highly in the power of politics and connections between individuals. A very intelligent and self-important person that looks out for number one first, but in a way that benefits others as well if it'll help forward her goals. Her unceasing efforts for promotions and personal safety in turn has earned her a promotion to Major of her own Mage Wing (a personal squad consisting of around a dozen handpicked Aerial Mages), and the monikers of Tanya the Argent, Tanya the Silver, Rusty Mithril, Devil of the Rhine, and so on.
  • Backstory: Once upon a time, there was a nameless Japanese middle management administrator from a nameless big corporation located in Tokyo. Due to his extremely pragmatic approaches to administration though, he was pushed off the edge of a train station by one of the people he laid off and suffered a messy death by speeding locomotive. However, dying simply brought him to the powerful and otherworldly being known only as "Existence X", who then cursed the man into reincarnating into a parallel world that mirrors our Earth's history save for the fact there is magic afoot. Being born a war orphan and subsequently drafted into the armed forces once the reincarnation tinkering manifested itself as a strong magical signature, the reborn as a girl soldier faces many challenges in order to achieve her amazing goal of having it easy in the rear lines of the war efforts... often by going out and slaughtering tons of enemy forces to both vent her frustrations and also to struggle to survive in such a horrible dog eat dog world.
  • Skills: Tanya is a true soldier despite her rather young age of 12, having been promoted to first lieutenant and being awarded with the extremely prestigious Silver Wings Medal (something usually given to postmortem soldiers) before directly ascending to the high rank of Major at the ripe old age of 12. Trained in the ways of war, she knows how to handle and care for her rifle plus other military equipment, map and scout out foreign terrains, trained in marksmanship, engage in close quarters combat, survive in the wilderness, perform battlefield first-aid, work cohesively with a squadron, and be an effective campaign officer/leader to her subordinates.
  • Powers and Abilities: Besides her solid training and practical wartime experience, she has access to a special energy found in rare beings called Mana that allows her to work out "magic", in this case being a set of combative based spells to help further her own survival and kill the enemy units. By utilizing her Mana focusing Enchantment Orb, Tanya can use the power of an Aerial Mage to fly around in the skies unfettered like a bird by ignoring gravity and g-force (though not a lack of oxygen), raise a barrier around her to block a short salvo of attacks, sharpen her five senses, briefly empower her fragile frame to be more enduring and strong, or fire off magical bullets/beams composed from both mana and specific elements to craft different variants such as air bullets, plasma shots, and vibro blades.
  • Equipment: Tanya is armed with various government issued gear such as her military uniform, dress uniform, Type 95 Elinium Orb (which is also cursed by Existence X to make her shout praise to the Christian faith the longer she uses its full power), a backpack full of military tools and rations, and two firearms- the first being a Kar 98k bolt action rifle modified for sniping and the second being the MG 34 machine gun for shooting down clusters of enemies or heavily armored targets.
  • Why have they been picked to climb the Tower?: For the interesting team dynamics she can pull off. And probably many a philosophical debate and/or bout of ridiculous violence.
Yeah, fuck it. I'm doing the thing to countermeasure the grumpy furry pirate.
  • Name: The Blacker Baron
  • Age: 37
  • Appearance: Your Favorite Pimp's Favorite Pimp's Pimp (stop starin'). Standing at 2.05m, he's one imposing (and incredibly gaudy) presence.
  • Universe: Anarchy Reigns
  • Personality: Whatever can be expected from a guy touting himself as Your Favorite Pimp's Favorite Pimp's Pimp? Well... exactly what you'd expect. Baron is a thrillseeker, an egomaniac and a shameless self-advertiser, never skipping a moment to get some more money, talk smack to every motherfucker in the room and then smacking them personally with his SUPER SEXY FISTS OF FIRE (original spelling). He loves them ladies, too, but that just can't be helped. Under the fast-talking in ebonics, the gaudiest and most eye-catching outfit within fifty miles and the sheer volume of bragging however... is a dangerously competent man. He does have the speed, strength and endurance to back up his boasts and if you do piss him off good enough, it will be blood and carnage. He is capable of some subtlety too; he can emphasize with people in need, he won't take too kindly to people trash-talking his hood (admittedly it's a shitty hood) and that extends to his brothers and players; put them under harm and it's going to be, again, blood and carnage.
  • Backstory: Chasers are a guild composed of bounty hunters and mercs that specialize in dealing with dangerous individuals, bringing them in to justice when police or special forces are incapable of doing so or if perhaps the target isn't considered too important for BPS' interests to deal with on their own... so it's obvious some fuck would specialize in bringing his marks dead. That, ladies and gentlemen, is The Blacker Baron (stop starin'). Known as The Phoenix or, usually by himself, as Your Favorite Pimp's Favorite Pimp's Pimp, the man can't be denied his effectiveness in cutting down the most dangerous mutants, criminals and whackjobs his world has to offer. Not much else to say, really.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
    • SUPER SEXY FISTS OF FIRE(original spelling) - Keep Your Pimp Hand Strong And Your Gear Fresh To Death - a pair of heavy cybernetic gauntlets and Baron's weapon of choice. As his sole cyborg parts, those beauties stay on at all times unless replaced with a different model. They might look cumbersome, but Baron wields them easily, capable of throwing punches able to dent metal and send lesser people flying. There's more of them, of course; clue's in the name: SSFOF (original abbreviation) are capable of spontaneously generating flames. The process is instantaneous and adds up to his already high punching power, though that feature can't be used too often to avoid the overheating. Each flame generation also creates some seriously sweet eagle designs on the gauntlets (that are also on fire).
    • Boxing Champion (and some) - Contrary to the popular belief, Baron doesn't just wildly swing his arms around; he's got the technique down to the core. Jabs, uppers, flying on-fire uppers, blocks, weaves, he can effectively avoid and block the incoming damage while dishing out the super-pain even without setting his hands on fire. That said, the man has since evolved past orthodox boxing and has added a variety of dance-like evasive maneuvers, below-the-belt moves and some wrestling moves to the repertoire, giving him enough flexibility to handle any enemy in close range.
    • This Baron Don't Break - The man is pretty tough, even though he relies more on dodging and blocking than straight-up tanking attacks with his face. He can weather minor blows and pick himself up no problem after a bigger one, though it's best not to abuse that too much.
    • Minor Internal Cyborgization - If you want to survive relatively intact in Baron's world without some gruesome mutations or sicknesses, it's either nanomachines or cyborg implants; he chose the latter. They do not actually improve on his physical condition, merely make him more resistant to toxins, poisons and illnesses. Sometimes his eyes shine red, particularily when he's about to get truly serious, but that otherwise has no other effect.
    • Built-In Headset - All Chasers need to have some sort of communication and in Baron's case he goes for the classics; think a headset without a headset. He can tune in to frequencies with a thought and, if sent, receive files and images for his view. Those are also activated with a thought and can be shuffled into "memory" for later use.
    • Sweet Dancing Moves - He can moonwalk and breakdance. Incorporated into his evasive maneuvers, as stated above.
    • Pimpin' Duds - Duh. Of note should be his gold-plated grill (it says "f☆ck you!"), the pinkish goggle-shades and the unbreakable pimp hat.
  • Why Have They Been Picked To Climb The Tower?: Good source of (crass) comic relief on top of providing another powerhouse to take the weight off others' shoulders. Plus, boy, that kind of treasure on top of the Tower shouldn't be left unattended.
Name
Remilia Scarlet
Age
Late 400s to early 500s; born 1502 AD in a setting that dates at least to the middle of the twentieth century.
Appearance
"You will stay for tea, won't you? I have grape juice."
Universe
2hu4u
Personality
Childish, whimsical, and extremely spoiled, Remilia has the hoity-toity air of a cultured china doll with fangs. Owing to her great age, she has more knowledge than her appearance might let on, but her years have by no means translated into maturity. When she isn't complaining about her black (pudding) tea or trying to order the moon around, she can usually be found hiding from the sun under her trademark pink parasol.
Backstory
At some point in the year 1502, Remilia was born. At some other point about 350 years later, she migrated to the magical Japanese realm of Gensokyo, wonderland of the forgotten, and promptly caused a lot of trouble by treating all the local villagers like they were sippie straws. After being told not to do it again, she was given a nice magical card-game that everyone could play, which she has done, on and off, for the last fifty years or so. There was also a brief spell of scarlet mist or something but that's not important.
Powers/Abilities/Racial Traits
  • Preternatural Attributes: As a vampire, Remilia is possessed of immense speed and strength; for the purposes of this RP, she will be roughly on par with Dio and Crazy Diamond.
  • Energy Manipulation/Danmaku: Remilia can conjure streaks of red light to serve as claws, spears or danmaku, the non-lethal projectile of choice for the fashionable Gensokyoite. These are highly destructive, unless limited by Remilia herself under the spellcard rules.
  • Shapeshifting: Remilia can transform into such varied things as a mist and a horde of bats. Her cognitive integrity seems to be otherwise unimpaired by the dispersion.
  • Physical Regeneration: Remilia can recover from any amount of physical damage, even disintegration, as long as her head remains intact. The time taken to perform said feat is stated as a single night. Her healing factor is nullified by any of the weaknesses listed below.
  • Thirsty Lil' Thing: She drinks human blood, and most probably eats organs too. She generally doesn't have enough of an appetite to give her victims anything more than a giddy spell, and she can sip tea, but she does need haemoglobin for sustenance.
  • Widdle Bat Wings: Self-explanatory. They work, too.
  • Weaknesses: As a prim and proper vampire, Remilia possesses the traditional weaknesses of her kind. These include natural running water, such as rain or rivers, sunlight, sardine-heads, shattered holly branches, and roasted soybeans. While any of these will cause her extreme discomfort and giddiness, to the point where she starts physically smoking on contact, they will not prove immediately fatal. Whether she proves susceptible to holy water, crosses, silver stakes, or garlic is yet to be seen, but is not unlikely.
Equipment
  • Parasol: It's pink. It also protects her from the nasty gaze of the sun.
  • Nightie, Cappie, and Red Shoeies: The ceremonial garb of any true shut-in.
