Was a long time now since I saw that overhyped series. But it took a third of the episode of about nothing of interest for the festival to even begin, at the pace of a sedate Slice of Life show without the charm that usually makes Slice of Life series worth watching. And even then the humour isn't that spectactular anyway.
Check out my fanfiction!I finished manga before watching 2nd episode, and honestly I came to conclusion as adaptation (and possibly even as standalone work) anime suck. They combined three different events across like 20 chapters and killed off most jokes. Character interaction failed too.
I will probably drop it after another episode or two and stick with original work instead.
KLK is not overhyped. KLK has lived up to far, far more than the buzz. It went beyond... etc.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I disagree.
Check out my fanfiction!hahahahahaha, completely and utterly disagree but this isn't the place for that.
Let me rephrase that: the hype around it was phrased in a very stupid way, the "saved anime" phrase in particular was empty and meaningless, the premise seemed clichéd and uninteresting, and the little previews and teasers leading up to the release were utterly uninspiring. As I go watch the show, I am as far from hyped as I could possibly be. I start watching.
Five minutes have passed. The credits have rolled. Honnouji towers among the most beautiful cloudscape, and Matoi Ryuuko, Transfer Student, regards it with a challenging stance.
My heart was stolen. The series went on to faithfully give me everything I could ever ask of an anime, and more than I could have imagined.
So, as far as I am personally concerned, it turned out to be much greater than the "hype" (anticipation) suggested. This is not an argument, it's an explanation. As these are my subjective feelings, they are not open to debate.
Now, this show...
Frankly, I had zero expectations. And I'm kinda weirded out but also intrigued by the Crapsaccarine World aesthetics; the Moe Moe characters are dysfunctional, but not quite insane, but still pretty weird, gross, and violent, but still pretty darn cute. The adolescent and adult women look like small children, which gives every "sexualized" or even Gaussian Girl interaction a creepy undertone which somehow manages to be amusingly surreal rather than gross. And there are lots of Jojo references.
It is seldom that I can say that a show amuses me enough that I want to follow it, while I still don't feel any strong emotions towards it at all. Usually with me it's either fierce passion or utter contempt. It's strange that this silly, crazy, bland thing manages to keep my attention.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I don't think this is bland. At worst, this is only a Flanderization of otakus
Same as usual.... Wing it.No, a Fland would be Watamote or Welcome To The NHK. This is more like a Lighter and Softer version.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I just read the first six chapters and I have no idea what Tenzen means? Yes the ordering was different but it worked just as well in the anime (honestly, some of it is kind of weird either way) and the chapters are pretty much stand-alone. I got more out of the character interaction and from the comedy in the anime, what with everything being animated, voice acted, and going by a lot less quickly than I turn the pages. The scene with Hio being assaulted with water had more build-up and the TV-head mascot had more lines, and we got to fully experience Sensei's nervous breakdown and reversion to childhood.
Definitely a matter of taste.
p.s. IDK if the scenes with the ball rolling and the waifu race show up later in the manga, I haven't come across them yet and they were quite boss.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Episode 3:
- Director, the master of the mixed message.
- Why of course Umio has a girlfriend. Y'all are too slow to understand that he's a 2-D guy.
- Kameko's a camera lover who's camera shy. What irony.
- Director and Hio-tan get along very well. She's like the annoying sister he never had.
- A busy day is when there is a zombie horde road-killing everything in sight for their literature. Meat shields do nothing! Taking orders makes you cough up blood! Packaging makes hands numb!
- Congrats on making Director feel better, guys. Have some killer overtime as a reward.
- Sensei and Umio make quite the couple.
Hio is Innocently Insensitive when it comes to staying in other people's homes, but who can blame her when Director's apartment is so awesome??
Sensei crashes into a tree, and Umio introduces everybody to his waifu. In great detail. Fancy outfits are worn by all. We don't get to see Camera's hair yet.
Main couples: I'm okay with Hio x Director and Fu-Girl x Sommelier (even though it's a bit lolicon), but I still don't care for Umio x Sensei.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Well, that was an adorable episode.
Episode 3. In which they're overrun by zombies.
Silly Hio. If she had worn a school uniform with a short skirt she'd have been fine in that cold. With or without rights.
He sure likes to troll her. Well, easy target.
She has the right idea, though. Stuff you do in early school is good for Christmas decorations.
Gotta agree. Sensei looks cute in that. Also.
I have a feeling he's somewhat more interested in that then the rest of them put together.
She's holding her hands in front of her eyes, so she can totally not see him because she totally doesn't want to.
While she is a bit intrusive and rude, I can't really fault her considering who the victim is.
Mega Man. Neat. I liked the first game. Was appropriately hard.
Those customers are kind of rude.
Normally, I'd say that a crowded day working at a store is often better than a slow day, but I've never worked in a stupid anime store.
I had a spot like that where I grew up. And there was a tree that had fallen down just at the cliff, which was an excellent place to sit at.
Somewhat better episode than previous. The humour didn't fall as flat as much, and it was actually cute on occasion.
Check out my fanfiction! This series still doesn't have a trope page.
Somebody...?
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.I nominate Ruise to create a page.

Check out my fanfiction!I wonder if anyone found Hio (at least for me) a bit not otaku enough to work in such a place? I was a bit surprised she doesn't seem to under the concept of waifus, despite she is not really a new employee. She really really needs a crash course on that subculture.

Scientia et Libertas | Per Aspera ad Astra NovaThey need at least one sane employee.
Check out my fanfiction! She doesn't need to be an otaku herself. But she needs to know the otaku. Not knowing the point of selling a Dating Sim, in Akiba, on a Christmas in Japan, reeks more of "incompetency" than "Only Sane Man."

Scientia et Libertas | Per Aspera ad Astra NovaAudience Surrogate? Like, she's an excuse to explain all the otaku stuff to any audience members who don't know.
In-series, though, she has no such excuse. :P
Episode 3: Feeling embarrassed? GLOMP A TREE
"I have a girlfriend." BAM!
Hio's kind of the token normalfag. We love her all the same.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.
I think someone ought to start a YKTTW on the "token normalfag" type—there's more than a few example in anime these days, and I believe it's not only anime, as Nerd Nanny would be a subtrope.
Episode 4:
- Ooooh, nice personal stands.
- Fu-girl's Zombeast Mode returns. Umio will never love zombies now.
- Yes, picking your most compatible genres is nice. Just don't think genres that are not you aren't worth checking out at least once.
- Sports? Friendship dramas? BULLCRAP! Director knows you, Hio-tan. More than you know yourself...
- Valentine's Day is such a wine glass-breaking, branch-cutting, dog-hitting, cat-smacking, egg-frying, police force-calling, old man-yelling, karate-chopping, pencil-pushing, world-destroying, lily-wilting pain. Sensei's Girl Power is at an imbalance!
- Pervy Book G-Man, you came back. And you were devastating! And then you were majestic! Bottom line is, Sommelier's popular.
- Crap, Sommelier, what a roundabout way home!
- Sensei's imbalance ends here! And her power went to zip with that purchase. What a pain.
- Oh, so you did have chocolate for Sommelier. Don't worry much 'bout it, Fu-girl. I'm preeeety sure Sommelier loves what you gave way more than any brand of chocolate.
Episode 4. In which Hio learns to appreciate manga.
She looks very short.
What's the reaction about? You can see the same thing in supermarkets. Well, fictional ones, anyway, and the tower of cans will inevitable collapse.
Real zombies are too violent? Got any you've tried?
I've always wondered why people in those situations always cover and not either run away or just try to disarm her.
Such a classy shelf she got for herself.
An angel is fine too.
Sensei took a severe blow. She can't be knocked out, though. There's still some healh left on her bar. And when it did go down to the bottom, she remained conscious. I think it's broken.
She's back.
"Obviously old enough" is something that can strike hard.
That's some path home. Do they even have mountains like that in Japan?
Orion is one of the easiest constellations to recognise.
Kind of boring second half. But then, I find Fu-girl to be the least interesting character out of everyone there.
Check out my fanfiction!
Nothing about this episode was slow, especially after the festival. You've been watching too much Kill La Kill if this is slow.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.
