Hmm ... this customizer isn't working, yet.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanRight. That won't be turned back on until we're sure the existing customizations are being served correctly.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyWell, the redlink issue doesn't show up in forum threads anymore. As for custom titles, I can see them as well, in forum posts.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanFast Eddie, can you please explain how the new customizer works?
"But... nobody told me I needed a signature!"The big change is that the wikiword will be serviced the same way in all namespaces. That is, it will be marked blue if it exists in any namespace and customized in every namespace. Each wikiword only needs to be customized once.
There are also technical changes that make it work faster.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyDoes this also fix the problem with the CamelCase namespaces (Web Video/, Video Game/, etc.)?
Beyond the beaten path lies the absolute end. It matters not who you are... Death awaits you. — NyxYup.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyThe new customizer/redlinker is installed everywhere, now. If we don't have any issues crop up in the next 12 hours or so, the customization request page will be turned back on.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyRedlinker doesn't seem to be working properly in YKTTW; lots of links are showing up as blue even when there's no page at the link in any namespace. (See, for instance, every occurrence of Berate and Switch and the other suggested names in the comments in this draft.)
If a page has nothing but redlinks, then they all show up blue. That's the only issue I can spot currently.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. The only issue I have re: the customizer is: What if page A in namespace A needs a different title than page B in namespace B with the same title as A?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe above is indeed one possible problem that can crop up with the new system, although it should be rare.
There exist, nonetheless, pages with basically the same title, just spaced differently, like Film.Goon and Series.Go On.
In the worst case, I guess we can split articles with a disambiguation element, like date or country, like is done sometimes with other Similarly Named Works.

^Super-rare case. As you say, adding a date or director in parens should clear it up.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyWhen this gets implemented, The Ptitle Replacement System and How to Make a Custom Title will need a bit of rewriting.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYup. Good eye.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI'll wait with a rewrite proposal until the system goes live (I also wonder if the two pages are redundant but that would be a separate issue...).
Otherwise, the only other issue with this rearrangement is that allowing links pointing to wrong/unoccupied namespaces could encourage bad wicking.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOnce we get a more robust subpage system, namespace collisions should become a thing of the past anyway. Hopefully.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"That isn't the problem I was citing, the problem would be e.g linking to Somework when Somework isn't the page but Namespace.Somework is.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think the bluelink only happens (or only should happen) when the link is to the Main namespace. Otherwise you'd get a lot of weirdness.

Well, I am wrong. The last link takes you to the auto-disambig. I'm on the fence as to whether this is an improvement or not...

Yep, still a problem. The first instance of a particular nonexistent title is not properly being redlinked. The issue is namespace-independent.

The problem is per-post, not per-page. Also tested in the Wiki Sandbox with the same results.

Okay, it seems that the linker decides what color a particular wick will be and then remembers that for the rest of the page on which it occurs. For nonexistent titles, it appears semi-random. Also, resaving the page with different links or links in a different order returns different results.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Unrelated to the link issue, I've checked some pages with customized titles and I see that the custom title propagates in all namespaces under the title in question, both if they have pages or are nonexistent pages. So from that aspect the new system is ready to roll.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'm getting red links when I make blue link. They still work, but they're red.
