The environment for video reviews was just very different back in 2007. Doug's own style has changed and been refined, but it was a lot more competitive during a time when another reviewer can incidentally scoop on your review. It's partially why Doug said he wouldn't do several reviews because he didn't think he could one-up Red Letter Media's review of The Phantom Menace. At the height of Channel Awesome the different creators would argue over which work they would review so as to not step on each other's toes.
For real though, reviewer dibs is such a silly concept, even back when it was a more competitive scene. It's fine when someone personally decides to not review something because another content creator said everything they could have said about it, but I've seen people accuse others of stepping on their turf just for reviewing a movie that someone else reviewed, like when someone acted like NC doing Chicken Little was stepping on Mr Enter's turf. Even Enter said that was kind of dumb. People can have different takes on the same media.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I'm looking forward to tomorrow's review of the movie Battleship. If you'll pardon the self-indulgence, I'd like to share a joke I wrote about it when it was released(I did amateur stand-up comedy for a few years), where I imagine the meeting that produced it:
Exec 1: Hey, I got an idea for something we could adapt into a movie: Battleship.
Exec 2: The board game?
Exec 1: Yeah, why not? It's a classic.
Exec 2: But it's just picking coordinates on a grid to sink little plastic toy ships. How do you make that into a movie?
Exec 1: You're right, we'd need to add something. What's something everyone loves? Aliens.....robots.....ALIEN ROBOTS!

Wait, where has it been stated that this movie is going to be the tomorrow's episode? I see nothing on CA's Twitter or Doug's Facebook.
Just a person. He/him.Thanks!
Just a person. He/him.I like that title card. It's a good change of pace to put Critic at a medium full shot instead of a close-up.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. It's crazy that this movie is getting close to being a decade old, since this was around the time I started watching movie reviews regularly.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.I was busy looking at the Trayvon Martin murder news (it occurred a few miles from where I used to live). I didn’t even watch a single movie in theaters until The Dark Knight Rises.
So what would have happened if Battleship was a success? More board game films?
And here it is, with the funniest opening to a NC review in recent history.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.EDIT:'d again!
Stray observations:
- It's nice to see the rest of the crew in skits again. And yeah, the skit was very funny.
- "Oh shit, are you doing the Disney version? I've got The Office version!''
- "They can't all be epic."
- *Was* Michael Bay actually involved in production of this movie in any way? I can't find any evidence for that.
- "Lie to my wife and say I died bravely!"
- "Oh shit, is this a horseless carriage?"
- "Oh shit, did somebody kidnap the Sun?!"
- "Boomer... is retiring this joke."
- "Oh shit, is this a Village People concert?!"

Just a person. He/him.Yeah the only connection this movie has to Bay is that it and the Transformers movies are based on Hasbro products.
Yeah, it's right here.
Side note: apparently Bay was NOT a different guy back when he made Pearl Harbor:

I remember watched this movie but have no idea that it based on a board game( since the game isn't very popular in my country) and found it at least entertain.

E.T technically is a Isekai movieBay has his own production company and there are a lot more people around him that do other things. So I think he was connected to Battleship, but not in any way that mattered. Same with Dora and the Lost City of Gold.
Another addition to Dark Toons and it's Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers:
I've never really thought of that one as dark. It's a pretty common plot thread that they're trying to kill each other.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy. That opening sketch made me laugh out loud multiple times. That's impressive for something that doesn't include recurring characters. And it warms my heart to see Heather involved in a sketch again after getting to see her on Twitch so much.
Also, while I think people give Doug too much flak for supposed lack of research...it gets very annoying when he builds a lot of the jokes in a review off of something that's not true. He seriously didn't even check IMDB first? Or even Wikipedia?

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Hm. Doug thinks Jeff Bergman's Bugs sounds better in The Looney Tunes Show?
I've never known anyone to think that...

With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationHe wasnt too bad. Though Joe Alaskey is the best of the post-Mel Blanc actors in my opinion
Tomorrow's Dark Toon is going to be a doozy.
It's Twisted Sister.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Oh, I forgot about that one. Didn't the character return in the reboot in some capacity?
Anyway, this week's NC: The Hunchback of Notre Dame:
Stray observations:
- "Yes, but it's...allergic to ugly."
- "Come on, I said they were tough questions, not good questions."
- "...you know, viewers of the universe..."
- "...Yeah, he's fine."
- "I always assumed I would stuff you and put you outside to scare off solicitors but this is far better."
- "Look out, Xenu, here we cooo—"
Next week: The Lion King (2019).
Just a person. He/him.
"Dark Harvest" was cited in a murder trial to suggest the defendant was fascinated with body parts, but I don't think it held a lot of weight in the trial.
