Write A Plot From The Title (Writing Game)

Go To

If you're familiar with Contextualize/Whamise This Line, then you may know how this will work. However, instead of a line, you must write a plot/synopsis based off a title from a work in a "Poster above you" format. For example...

Troper A: Soul Surfer

Troper B: Soul Surfer is a cyberpunk action film about a man who has the unique ability to go into the bodies of other people, and must do this to clear his name for a crime he hasn't committed.

Something like that. I'm just hoping I'm being concise enough. Alright, let's begin.

The staff members of a certain aquarium are baffled by a string of mysterious deaths of their animals whose innards seem to have mysteriously been sucked out.

Andy the otter was only mildly curious about these news until his best friend, a manatee, suffers the same grisly fate. This prompts this small mammal to set off on his own investigation.

As the puzzle pieces slowly fall into place, it becomes increasingly clear that there is something lurking in the aquarium that shouldn’t be there… and for that matter, shouldn’t be on Earth.

A Sci-Fi horror story about a secret government project trying to resurrect a corpse gone horribly wrong. The undead being goes on a killing spree and is difficult to kill due to being granted excellent regeneration abilities thanks to the botched resurrection. The undead being is also super agile, strong and durable. Effectively a slasher work with scientists and military officals as the victims.

A journalist (referred to throughout the story only by their pen name, A.M. Zarathustra; their gender is left ambiguous through whatever means are best suited for the medium) begins investigating a businessman (who has appeared in public numerous times, and incidentally also has initials A.M.) under suspicions of fraud, but it becomes increasingly apparent that the businessman does not exist, public appearances notwithstanding, and it's unclear who actually calls the shots in "his" business. Said public appearances are also not the work of a hired actor and seem to be something altogether stranger and more sinister. Things get increasingly surreal and it's unclear by the end how much of it is really happening and how much isn't.

Throughout the story, fire (which the journalist is fascinated with) serves as a motif representing truth, and the number seven shows up a lot. The journalist's continued pursuit of truth long past the point where they could possibly gain from it, and when they are actively suffering from it is also explored.
