Laconic Description Improvement

Today I found out an interesting fact from troper Ironeye:

Don't ever make the mistake of using the Laconic version as the canonical trope meaning—the laconics are often written by people who don't actually understand the drop. In this case, the laconic only corresponds to one possible cause of Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy.

The Laconic Description for DIAA states as follows:

The thing is, these descriptions are supposed to make it easier to understand what the page is about. If they can't be accurate as well as short and sweet, then there's a problem.

So for starters, what would be a better description for DIAA?

A depiction of two opposing combat philosophies: the professional, mission-oriented soldier versus the warrior who seeks glory and self-worth

Edited to add:

You know, the Foil page sums up the trope as follows:

One fights to live, the other lives to fight.

Maybe we should just use that?

A depiction of two opposing combat philosophies: the soldier fights to live and the warrior lives to fight.

Laconic.Overlord

The Video Game: Pikmin meets The Lord of the Rings meets Gremlins.

Suggestion:

A revived Evil Overlord has to subjugate/destroy the land by making his squads of gremlins solve puzzles and slash anyone who stands in the way.

[up] Looks good.

Also, the pointless redirect laconic should be cut, considering it's just pointing to a laconic on a different page.

Seems Laconic. The Aeneid is changed to a correct but an unwitty description by ~Aeon 1337 without a prior discussion.

It was changed from this:

The Ur-Example of Fan Fiction about a one-shot character from The Iliad and his ragtag crew of survivors fleeing from the burning city of Troy on a quest to fulfill a prophecy to create the foundations of Rome, and pizza.

to this:

Aeneas, a one-shot character from The Iliad, and his ragtag crew of survivors fleeing from the burning city of Troy, set out on a quest to fulfill a prophecy to create the foundations of Rome, all while Juno does her best to make the quest as miserable as possible.

I brought back the original in its commented out form as a placeholder.

Laconic.Villainous Breakdown has been having more and more words gradually added to it by ~Alex The Play Station Boy and is getting sort of silly.

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.

They are actually going against previous consensus according to page history, so it may not be silly.

Laconic.Repeating Ad: "Seeing that one commercial over and over and over again."

Sounds misleading, it should be "The same ad or product appears more than once within the same commercial break".

Laconic.Alas Poor Villain states it can involve a villain's demise. However, the main page states it's a Death Trope. Can I remove that detail?

EDIT: [down] Thanks.

I'm a bit confused, to be honest. "death or demise" is just a redundancy because "demise" does mean "death". I agree it's a death trope, but the "demise" can be removed on the grounds of redundancy.

Laconic.Katamari Damacy:

Roll a ball into stuff to make it bigger. Impossible to describe in any other way.

I don't think the second part is needed. But I can elaborate further.

An alien prince assimilates objects into a rolling ball of junk until it reaches cosmic proportions.

The laconic for Our Minotaurs Are Different only says "Minotaurs and other bovine humanoids."

I thought this was a case of the laconic being lacking, because the name made me think the trope was about non-traditional depictions of minotaurs... But looking at the trope description, it seems to be about any work that features a bovine humanoid, which feels like chairs.

I wanted to ask if this is a case where just the laconic should be rewritten or if this is something that should be taken to TRS.

[up] Oh yeah, I've always thought that those Our Monsters Are Different tropes are chairs. The counterargument I've heard is that they're fictional so their inclusion has to be deliberate, but deliberate =/= significant. I really think almost everything in that index needs TRS work.

I think the proper laconic would be "Bull-men are brutal warriors, usually." because that's what the definition is going for. Is it chairs is not for this thread.
