I was debating where to put it. I went with YMMV like Fandom-Specific Plot, so that it can be put onto pages.

FanFic.Carpe Noctem — a new page from a newbie editor with several issues; PM as been sent :-)

• The page is in the wrong namespace (Fan Fic vs Fanfic); I assume cutting and recreating the page can be a bit overwhelming to a newbie; nevertheless, I wrote them about the cutlist and sandbox.
• Some ZCE; they have been commented out and editor has been informed about the issue
• Not indexed; editor informed about indexing
• Curly brackets have been changed to Administrivia.Camel Case;
• When this is fixed, page should be cross-wicked.

So is there a reason all those miscapitalized titles are not changed en masse? Or is the only problem they're not put in edit requests thread? If it's such an easy fix, why do we need to put them there one by one when all the problematic pages can be found via this link: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pagelist_having_pagetype_in_namespace.php?n=FanFic&t=work

If I were to take a wild guess, it's because that's sixteen pages each with a Long List, thus overwhelming any moderators looking at it. It's probably psychologically easier to do one at a time as requests pop up. And I didn't even factor in hunting wicks.

Problem is, if that is indeed the case, then the moderators are going to have more and more difficulty catching up as more and more people get confused over whether it's FanFic or Fanfic and guess wrong.

Edit: I got an answer, that link you found is not case-sensitive after all, and thus not as helpful as you thought.

I'm wondering if at some point it may just be easier to program pages like FanFic to function the same as Fanfic, correct nav-button and all; but that's for the Admins to figure out.

Eye Roll was quietly launched as soon as it got a net Five hats.

It's precisely three days old and there's... a lot of ongoing discussion on it. My last comment (the last comment, in fact, since they didn't announce a launch of anything) isn't saying "don't launch it" but very much questioning the point of its existence.

I've since thrown a bomb in because even if I'm okay with it being launched as a trope, it wasn't ready for launch with the ongoing discussion.

Artistic License – Child Labor Laws was launched, despite there still being questions in the TLP on what works fit under the trope.

I thought Eye Roll's title was "Irritated Eye Roll".

But I also want to know: why doesn't it allow examples?

And does "eye-rolling" just refer to "turning your eyes upward", or can it also count "rotating your eye in an upward arch" like from left to right? (I hope you get it, it's hard to explain)

- It was that name, until it was decided to generalize it on the assumption that eye rolls had no other uses.

And was also assumed that it was Omnipresent.

Eye Roll also got an Example Sectionectomy within about 12 hours of launch, which calls the purpose of the page into question — the term hardly requires a definition, so the page doesn't seem to have a function other than to become a Pothole Magnet.

We were concerned that the trope "Character rolls eyes" would be too ubiquitous to have examples of; so this was the compromise. At the time I thought it was a good idea, but I admit that seeing it launched is making me question it.

I would have imagined it to be approximately as common as Face Palm.

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.

Personally, I was concerned that though it's absolutely a thing, it's such a normal thing in real-life as well that it's just characters mimicking reality. Face Palm is often more exaggerated and played-with than someone just getting annoyed and rolling their eyes; so while I agreed that it was a trope, I thought the concept of "annoyed character rolls their eyes" would just give a list of...well... any time a character rolls their eyes, which me and someone else (Larkmarn?) both pointed out is just like troping "A character smiles when happy". When Played With or exaggerated it's a trope, but if it's just the basic "a happy character will smile"... it's not interesting enough to trope.

So, to fix the issue, it was decided to just not have examples, and now I'm seeing that that is also not a great idea.

Some tropes only list examples where it's played with, not straight ones.

But I don't think Eye Roll would be one of those tropes. Eye rolling is also a gesture of "oh, whatever" or "I don't like what I have to say" and I have an example for it.

It's also the matter of how you write it. "Bob is irrittated, so he rolls his eyes" sounds different from "Bob rolls his eyes, confirming his irritation".

I don't think its chairs but as it does have have problems. Thinking it over again, if the eye rolling is something associated with a character or is used a lot in a work. It can just be rolled into Character Tics which is the supertrope for this. If we going to separate it might be useful to have it as something like Irritation Tic similar to how we have Thinking Tic.
