@True Shadow 1 Pretty much agree with you tbh. Not only that, but act-age is also on the same spot with both JJK and Kn Y (Although possibly the popularity of the latter will change soon enough thanks to Ufotable).

I was discussing some series with a friend tonight and I remembered the recently finished The Young Master's Revenge, which is a fun and short, if not especially amazing, shoujo series. Rather clean cut and straightforward, despite the title.

Stumbled across Ookami Shounen wa Kyou mo Uso o Kasaneru tonight; was initially hesitant because I'm not usually one to go for cross-dressing manga but I'm really glad I gave it a shot.

It's a bit short at 32 chapters but I'd probably rate it in the top ten manga I've ever read and the only romance manga I can think of off hand that I'd rate higher are Toradora and Hanigare.

Anyone that hasn't read it yet should seriously consider correcting that.

I just saw on Crunchyroll that Hitori Bocchi No Marumaru Seikatsu has an anime now.

Bocchi Hitori is an extreme Shrinking Violet. So much so her Only Friend Kai-chan takes extreme measures and, upon getting into different middle schools, severs ties with Bocchi, promising to reunite in high school if Bocchi can makes friends on her own.

So begins Bocchi's quest to befriend everyone in her class. Main characters besides Bocchi include Nako, a gadfly as likely to troll Bocchi as help her, Aru, an eternal Butt-Monkey who craves respect, and Rakita Sotoka, an Occidental Otaku who thinks Bocchi is a ninja and asks to be her disciple.

Just gonna bring this manga for an attention and I'm surprised that the manga didn't get a TV Tropes page yet despite it has more than 50 chapters and it seriously needs more love:

Alright... Anyone remember Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka? Well, I recently read the manga by the same creator called Kings' Viking. For those who don't know the story, the story tells us about an investor named Daisuke Sakai who got an interest with a socially inept 18 year old hacker, Koreeda Kazuki, and due to Daisuke's own ambitions, Daisuke then took Koreeda into his wing so that he could fulfill his wishes to conquer the world.

While Koreeda is seemingly a pessimistic boy at first, he gains some confidence a little bit thanks to not only Sakai but the police force that he collaborates with and as a result, Koreeda tries at his best to improve some security in several companies and fight against cybercrimes on a Global Scale.

The manga is surprisingly pretty neat. Unlike Asuka, this manga feels rather... A little bit grounded on reality I suppose (But it could change in later chapters). Both the two protagonist seems like a decent character despite what Koreeda does is kind of a crime itself. Daisuke is fun and Koreeda is a rather socially awkward boy who does have some OP af cracking skills. From my research, the manga is at it's 17 volume and I'm truly surprised that it hasn't get an anime yet unlike Asuka so yeah...

Another manga I want to bring. Special thanks for my friend, doomrider7, on this one and recently post this on General Isekai Thread so...:

I just recently finished Saihate no Paladin or better known as The Faraway Paladin manga version.

My opinion? It was good! Very very good. Most of the character honestly feels rather likable (Marie! I'm looking at you) and the story itself feels rather emotional to the core. I think I like the idea of having spend time with your own family after got reincarnated to another world even if sadly the family members in question will experience a cycle of rebirth soon enough because they were undead after 2 centuries. The only issue that I have is probably the manga is a bit dialogue heavy (Not Hunter X Hunter tier but it's still dialogue heavy). But even then, it doesn't detract my enjoyment of the manga as while the dialogue is heavy, the story is a bit simple to follow. Can't wait for the next chapters of the manga to be released though. I'm digging this story.

Heterogenous Linguistics is a must read for those who like complex worldbuilding in a fantasy setting.

The gist is that Hakaba, a young human researcher, ventured into the monster world to research the language and culture of each monster race. It's really interesting to see how the author thought it out. Like how werewolves communicate verbally by growls, but also nonverbally through smell. Or how lizardmen has a writing system that is completely different from humans. Or how harpies has completely different vocal chords than humans, werewolves, and lizardmen, so they use nonverbal methods when communicating with them.

Sometimes their culture is so alien for humans that even our MC only gets the rough gist of it. Reading this is just like travelling to another country whose language you don't speak.

[up] Oh, that sounds like an inetersting concept. surprised I might check it out.

Otherwise, I didn't know where to put this, but Lupin III's creator Monkey Punch is no more.

Heterogenous Linguistics is super interesting. The author managed to make the monsters truly alien and inscrutable, instead of just funny shaped humans. Their languages, cultures, common sense, even the very way they perceive the world are very different and very confusing. Communication is like trying to find your way through labyrinth while blindfolded. The main character spends most of the time trying very hard to understand what they're doing and why and failing half the time.

My favorite example is how Lizardmen writing system is based on colors, and not in any easy to explain way, more like "this color is like how this specific person smells" kind of way, with tons of subtleties that are lost on a human but they can't recognize themselves on pictures. Like, they straight up don't see a connection between the drawing and what it represents. The manga is full of weird stuff like that.

[up] What's that about? surprised

Otherwise, I recently stumbled upon Kiryuu-sensei wa Ren'ai ga Wakaranai (published in France as Aromantic (Love) Story). It's about Kiryuu Futaba, a 32 year old mangaka whose hit harem romcom is gonna get an anime adaptation. Problem is, she hates romance manga and has never fallen in love herself. She just doesn't get that whole "love" thing and only did a romcom on a suggestion/challenge from her editor. But of course, she finds out that one of her young assistants has feelings for her, and so does an older member of the anime staff.

It's not only funny and cute, but actually asks some real questions on societal expectations about "love" and sexuality in general. All while giving some insight into the world of mangakas. I like it.

While visiting a bookstore today I noticed the French title for Plus-Sized Elf: 50 Nuances de Gras. Lame pun on Fifty Shades of Grey (gras being French for fat).

I stumbled upon a video about The Laughing Salesman, a 1989 anime whose 2017 sequel was a spectacular bomb.

…and I really like the concept. It's about a probably non-human salesman who gives people exactly what they need… but under vicious conditions. The original manga was from the author of Doraemon of all people. Has anyone heard of it?

Yeah, it has that slightly surreal feel…

On another note, I created a page for Kiryuu-sensei wa Ren'ai ga Wakaranai (Aromantic (Love) Story). I still have one volume left to read, but it's really pretty damn good. A tad anvilicious but that's not a bad thing in this case. And the different evolutions of the characters give some interesting nuance, on top of calling out some annoying romcom clichés.

I went through the current chapters of Diotei Manual Kamisama Tachi No Renai Daikou today. It's a story by Cool-Kyou Shinsha, with art by Yasu, and features a pair of teenagers, Mutsuki and Miko, who mark the end of the first chapter by becoming an official couple and going to First-Name Basis to each other.

Meanwhile, two cosmic beings of Creation and Destruction realizing that the capacity of the universe is being gradually taken up by some unknown force. They discover this force is coming from the inhabitants of Earth, natch, and to try and learn more about humans and why they're clogging up everything, they possess a pair of conveniently dead teenagers that happen to be lying around.

Creation and Destruction possess and repair the bodies of Mutsuki and Miko, respectively, access what they can of the pair's memories to begin their study of humanity, and work towards determining whether or not the Earth needs to be destroyed for the good of the universe. This doesn't go smoothly, since on top of their lacking of understanding of how anything really works, there's some Final Destination shenanigans as the universe is unhappy with two people who are supposed to be dead not being dead, there's also the matter of just why Mutsuki and Miko were dead in the first place, and real trouble starts to crop up when Mutsuki's and Miko's personalities start to re-emerge.

I confess it's not quite as thrilling as I'm hyping it up to be, but I'm a sucker for an odd premise and that fit the bill.
