Did you create an entirely new page (I'm looking at the Physics one)? Because a few of the in-universe examples are missing. El Goonish Shive springs to mind.
They weren't in-universe (or at least weren't listed as such), and there wasn't enough detail to sort them, so they got axed. If you can sort them, by all means do so.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.I'll do that then. I don't know all of them, so other people can help (here's the examples in question). Although I think it's a little disappointing we lost the previous picture, it didn't quite fit the new trope. Oh well.
The old picture appears on another page, anyway, so it was a duplicate.
Others that got axed were those that pretty much said "everything in this work" (Armageddon, Independence Day, The Core, The Day After Tomorrow, etc) and those that belong on a different trope, like Batman Can Breathe in Space, No Conservation of Energy, or Frickin' Laser Beams. If people want to add specific examples from those films back in, feel free.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Don't forget to notify a mod to move the discussion pages (if any).
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.What do I do about the merged pages discussion pages?
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.If there's an existing discussion page, the old discussion "threads" get merged into it. All we need to know is:
- The names of all of the pre-merge pages
- The place they got merged into
Also, don't forget to move any subpages. Given that these are tropes, Laconic/ is the main one to look out for, but there may be others.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.Wernt we going in another direction with Artistic License – Gun Safety?
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I'll start working on Artistic License - Astronomy later today.
^ There should be a sandbox for that page somewhere — ah, it's at Sandbox.Astronomy Tropes

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Can I replace the current article with the sandbox version, or does any other work need to be done first?
Current Progress: Artistic License - Astronomy is now the main article, and I've moved the Laconic page. I'm in the process of fixing the wicks. The discussion page will need to be moved from the Astronomy Goof page.
For some reason, the index for the page is still displaying as You Fail Astronomy Forever. Not sure how to fix that.

As far as I know that sandbox is ready to go. If you see any changes that you think would make it better, go ahead, but that's the format we're pretty much looking at for the You Fails, so that they can act as both indexes for existing tropes and catching nets for "prototropes" (things that aren't fully tropes yet, but are getting there.
Ideally any example on the Artistic License pages that can be put into an already existing subtrope will be put there, types of examples that have several examples will be YKTTW'd as new tropes, and the others will be sorted into basic types, rather than by media, so that we can see when there are enough examples to make it worth YKTTWing as a new subtrope.
This means that (if this works out the way we're hoping for) the examples on the Artistic License pages should be experiencing a lot more turnover than the examples on other pages — they'll be moved off into subtropes and replaced by new ones.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Sorry about yesterday, it was my son's birthday so I was quite busy. OP updated and thank you, Lady Momus, for volunteering.
EDIT: Raso, could you be a tad more specific? That doesn't tell me anything and the TRS thread for it doesn't seem to have a decision.
EDIT EDIT: Discar, those examples you put back weren't really in-universe examples, they were Lampshade Hangings on the trope. I'm going to move them to a folder about fire not working that way, I guess?

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.No problem.
Okay. The Artistic License - Astronomy page has been updated. I kept the old page picture, since it's a perfect example of the trope. There were red links to Physics Tropes and Space Tropes, which I changed to Artistic License – Physics and Space Does Not Work That Way. (I'm assuming that's what they were referencing. If not, feel free to correct me.)
After I finish with the wicks for Artistic License - Astronomy, I'll start working on Artistic License – Engineering.
You know, looking at the wicks for Physics, are these examples Trivia because they are a collection of prototropes? I'm questioning it a bit.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Ah, yes, you're right, just a lampshading. My bad. And that's a good new folder; I think everyone has seen a pyro Playing with Fire without being burned or having any problems with smoke or fuel or such.
Yo, you guys still working on this? If so, I took time to fix all You Fail Basic Training Forever wicks to Artistic Licence Basic Training.

I've been working on it off and on. I finally got all the wicks moved for Artistic License - Astronomy and Artistic License – Engineering done. (Well, almost all. There were a few I left in Troper Tales and WMG.)
I'm currently working on Artistic License – Geology.
I haven't reorganized any of the pages, though. (I'm not sure what all needs to be done there.)

What about it? It was never part of the "You Fail" family.
X Does Not Work That Way was a proposed alternative title to You Fail X Forever, but Eddie vetoed it due to accusatory associations, I believe.
We have a trope with the rejected title.

I'm running into a problem when correcting wicks. Some are on the main page, others are on Trivia, others on YMMV. Where should they go?
(The banner on the top of the pages says "Please don't list this on a work's page as a trope," but doesn't say where it is supposed to be listed instead.)
I thought it was older then that idea.
I've just noticed the changes being made to the You Fail/Art Major/X is Crying tropes.
I was a sceptical at first, but having read (some of) the relevent threads, I think I agree that the changes are justified.
I am wondering though - what about all the other "this isn't right" tropes, such as Acceptable Breaks from Reality, Necessary Weasel, Did Not Do The Research, Critical Research Failure, Hollywood Style, and Dan Browned. Many of these seem to overlap with each other, and/or with the old You Fail/Art Major/X is Crying tropes, or their Artistic License X replacement).
Are these being addressed as part of this project as well?
And if so, how many versions of "this is inaccurate" should we keep? (I'd argue Dan Browned is needed at the very least, for things that are seriously claimed to be accurate rather than artistic license, but are substantially wrong; I'm not sure about the others).
Finally, I was just skimming through They Just Didn't Care, and it looks like a few people have mistaken that for yet another varient of artistic license-type tropes and put some erronious examples in there. That shouldn't be too hard to fix (although I don't have the time to do it now myself).

Okay, let's clean this mess up.
As decided in this thread, we are going to rename this family of tropes to Artistic License: X, merge the Art Major/You Fail pairs, and make the pages a catching ground for prototropes rather than a place to catch trivia.
Here's what needs to be done on each page:
Be sure to link to this thread while doing so, so that people hopefully don't revert the edits.
I've started on Artistic License – Physics, so you can see what I'm talking about. What else needs to be done:
Question: Are we including all the Somewhere An X Is Crying tropes?
There are also other "got this wrong!" tropes on the You Fail Indexes Forever index that we may need to consider as well as the index itself.
