Calling all Grammar police!

This was found on VideoGame.The Legend Of Nayuta Boundless Trails

“Those who purchased the Steam version received the English translation via a free patch.”

This was edited since the games are now out, but the above sentence doesn't sound grammatically correct to me. But I decided to ask here if it is just me.

I don't think it's actively wrong, but the "Those" is a little clunky. Maybe:

Anyone who had already purchased the game via Steam received a free patch with the English translation.

would any grammar cops be able to comment on this?

for context:

• this is a RPG supplement about monsters
• each monster has a title and is often a in-universe nickname or mythological name
• HTD uncapitalised all the instances of the monsters, saying they were "not proper names" and should not be capitalised
• however: while the monsters do have alternate nicknames, the titles in the RPG supplement, as far as im aware, are the official OOC names for the monsters, and each has a section/chapter dedicated to each monster

im not sure about rules for proper names, so help me out grammar police (pls)

Not a grammar cop but if the names are capitalized in the source material, I think it's fine to do so on the wiki.

Question: When it comes to listing examples of The Other Darrin, should it be voices or voicing? Cause I saw a few examples using the former but it doesn't sound right to me.

As of late, Characters.Blues Clues has been rife with grammatical, spelling, and punctuation issues, and I've been overwhelmed with it. Some assistance is welcome.

We have an "English types" notifier.

Note that the former in is incorrect capitalization. Either a period or a semicolon can be used, but if a semicolon is used, the word after it follows regular capitalization rules for a word in the middle of a sentence.

Twiddler's right, but personally, I'd try to avoid that structure and integrate the word seamlessly into the example as much as possible, such as these entries from Bennett the Sage's tropes:

• Cat Girl: Discussed in the Dominion Tank Police review, in regards to Anni and Una, cat girl twins who are recurring antagonists. Sage notes that the more gross parts of living with cats as a child ruined his ability to appreciate cat girl fanservice, using a cat yarking up a hairball as a visual for the point. He's then distracted by Anni and Una's debut scene where they do a striptease to distract the Tank Police, but an unfortunate flashback to that cat wrecks everything.

• Nature Versus Nurture: Discussed in the Elfen Lied review as one of the work's core themes. Sage argues that, while the show sets up the question "are we born evil, or are we made evil?", it ultimately plays the two extremes against the middle and never picks a side.

This example doesn't already exist on the page, so that's not what this thread is for. You've already brought it up in Get Help With English, as suggested in the pinned post in this thread, so I would just be patient.

I'm concerned some of the Characters.Fairy Tail subpages might have some grammar, spelling and punctuation problems. While I've been working on fixing some of these errors, can someone also please look into this, if it's possible?

Came across Winter Moon while browsing some random media pages. While the main page only has a few grammatical errors, there area heaps of them (including spelling mistakes and tense/plural trouble ("her hair are snow white")) on the subpages, namely the character pages. Whoever wrote these entries keeps saying that one of the characters "has an autism", rather than "is autistic" or "has autism". Even some of the quotes used in character pages have typos.

Here's an example from one of the character sections: "Slut-Shaming: Similarily to Florence, he constantly offends Risa for her Femme Fatale attitude."

It appears the troper who made these edits is Polish, so I'm assuming English is their second language, and I don't want to be harsh on them... but the webcomic and its subpages could do with a very good grammar/spelling clean-up if anyone has the time/energy.

Hello, I have been suspended due to grammatical, citation, capitalization, and other such errors that I am in dire need of correcting. Could someone help me fix my mistakes by showing me where I went wrong so I can better my works? I do my best when I am shown what needs to be worked on.

The anime was such a success in Spain that the entire TV franchise (except by the movies, which were asked but never conceded) was exported to the country solely for its ratings in autonomic channels, which is an exceedingly unusual feat and has never been really matched. I'm not sure if it's worth sending the troper a grammar notifier or not since I didn't look through their other edits, I just checked to see if it was all the same person editing that webcomic and its subpages, and it seems to be (for the most part at least).

Do we have a steer on capitalising instalment names mid-sentence? E.g.

• Episode vs. episode
• Season vs. season
• Series vs. series
• Chapter vs. chapter
• Issue vs. issue

If a book is actually "The Work Name: Volume One", then normal title rules apply, but if you're mentioning this midway through an example, is it "later, in Issue #3" / "In episode 5 of season 12, the ship explodes"?

For British English, I think they're generally lower case - the Guardian style guide specifically says "chapter" not "Chapter", for example, if referring to an untitled "chapter 1".

Is this one of those "first come, first served" things that varies by nation?

It's totally unclear to me what the second sentence is even trying to say. You should definitely rewrite it if you can phrase it better.

I usually don't see episode capitalized unless the formatting of the episode includes the word "Episode" as part of the title (i.e. it's just called "Episode 53"). Likewise I typically only see "Chapter #" capitalized if that's just what the chapter is titled.
