Bakuryu and Jenny were my faves.
Haven't played them yet, but I was always drawn to Xion. Is he out of place? A bit, but he's a proto-Dante that transforms into a badass Guyver-looking motherfucker, so who the fuck cares?
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterPersonally, I always enjoyed playing as Shiina.
"If you are going through hell, keep going." - Winston ChurchillSooo I made a super long post but apparently the draft didn't save and I lost the whole thing. So I'mma just say this: I'm genuinely surprised to see so many people talking about BR and I love y'all for doing so. Thanks for indulging socially awkward, motor-mouthed little me. Also I have a LOT of feelings about Yugo and Kenji (Bakuryu II). Like a lot a lot. Gameplay wise they look really fun to play as but story wise? HOO boy. Like there is fic potential there. Precious mole boi's story in 2 especially I feel has some potential for (completely platonic mind you, they're family) Hurt/Comfort Fic set after the ending because goddamn. (Also Busuzima is an asshole and I want to punch him in the face, and that's putting it mildly. No wonder he was subject to Villain Decay in later games.) Now if only I could actually write eheh -.- why do I have so many feelings and no way to actually do something with them
Yeah. I am probably a little TOO invested in this for my own good. Someone save me. (Also from what I've seen of 3/Primal Fury/Extreme it's good gameplay wise? It's just the story that's kinda eh. And let's not get started on 4 bc that was a hot mess and I don't want this thread turning into the same. Anyway peace out)
EDIT: WHY CAN'T I FORMAT.

FC: SW-1445-0294-1719/PSN: TekkenGirl4Lyfe/Currently playing: Fire Emblem: The Blazing BladeFantastic. Now I can fruitlessly hope for Brain Drain once again.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI have heard nothing from Skullgirls from the past years. A real treat that the developers continue to input for their players.
What's with good fighting games and fan service? It's so alienating.
No more than shirtless men to me but that's a can of worms I'm not willing to go through again.
Sorry.
Which franchise is a good jumping on point for someone who is looking to get into the genre?
Street Fighter is the bread and butter fighting game. KOF is also a good long-running franchise. If you want something old school without excessive fanservice then I'm a huge advocate for Garou as well.
Divekick and Rising Thunder are fighting games with newcomers in mind. They are simplified compared to most mainstream fighters. Granblue also gives you the option for simplified commands a la Smash.
Where there's life, there's hope.I'm gonna make a hard read and say the three characters besides Annie in the SG season pass are Umbrella, Black Dahlia, and Marie, since they're the ones apparently needed to complete the story of SG 1.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughOh, yeah, probably. Brain Drain is my favorite character design, but there are about five or six characters I'd include before him. I'm just being silly.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireUnironically, Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid
Other 2D games I would recommend starting with is MK 11 because it does an incredible job explaining fundamentals, Street Fighter because it always seems to appeal to everyone. If you ever decided to up your game then the recent Samurai Shodown is a pretty good place to start. Lots of strategies & thinking when it comes to making your next moves.
3D games I would recommend Dead or Alive & Soul Calibur. In DOA's case, if the fanservice is too much, I vaguely recall that you can turn it off. Otherwise, it's still a button-mashing friendly game for beginners. Soul Calibur, IMO, is the most accessible fighting game out there. Its mechanic & system is incredibly easy to understand & Guard Impact is just the best thing to punished spammers everywhere. Unfortunately, SC VI's mechanics make the series a bit harder to get into thanks to the revamp Soul Charge mechanic.
I'm glad Skullgirls is still kicking after that debacle and long hiatus.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Fighting Games have a habit of just not dying. Melee and Third Strike are still fiercely competitive. Hell even Yatagarasu still has people trying to update it.
I know Fantasy Strike was created as an entrypoint into the FGC, although as has been mentioned Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is the one with similar mechanics that actually caught on.
Bleye knows Sabers.Does anyone here play Fantasy Strike? Started playing it last week but I'm looking for people to play with that aren't just random matchups.
I've been meaning to give Fantasy Strike a go for awhile now. Should probably at least pick a main.
Bleye knows Sabers.ASW is interested in implementing Rollback into other titles, and are looking for who to prioritize
Obviously Id love Blazblue CF to get some love but itd be also super hype if Ultimax got a re release.
I doubt Ultimax would get updated
But I’d love to be proven wrong

EVO 2021 is back on after last year's...unpleasantness, and Sony has now purchased the event. The first slate of announced games are (no surprise) Tekken 7, MK 11, Street Fighter V and Guilty Gear - Strive.
- Smash sweating*
It's since been clarified that the tournament is still open to all platforms despite the Sony ownership, which is good.
However, Nintendo's response is somewhat disconcerting.
Basically, it sounds like EVO has no problem with Nintendo games, but Nintendo may have a problem with their games being shown off at a Sony event.
Nintendo still being spiteful to Sony all these years, huh...

Busuzima was super fun. Stun and him all the way.
