x6 I'd put Ridley in Cartoon, where as Dark Samus I'd put into a new category: "Realistic". As far as I can remember, the Metroid Prime series essentially tried its hardest to make Samus and Dark Samus look like real people (as real as the Gamecube and Wii could make them look). Sure, Dark Samus comes from a parallel dimension and constantly floats, that doesn't change the fact that they wanted to make her look like a real person for these games, and since its the Prime series Samus, Zero Suit Samus and Dark Samus get their looks for Ultimate, I would say they fall into the "Realistic" category (along with Snake and... those are the only franchises in Smash that try to be realistic).

Hero is a good pick, but I think Erdrick should have been the default.
-Witty line-Ridley is anything but cartoony. Maybe adult animation if you stretch it.
I guess Game and Watch and ROB are their own thing
Uni catWouldn't ROB fit in a Realistic category, since it's based on a Real Life toy?
I don't think you can really classify the characters like that. If you really want to you could make three categories: "Cartoon", "Anime" and "Other".
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."In other words, "cartoon", "cartoon", and "other".
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.You joke, but that's basically it.
I've only played a bit of one Fire Emblem game-I basically liked it, but I will say that what I liked about it doesn't really translate into Smash Bros.
The "anime swordsman" thing is oversimplifying the issue. The problem is that most of them appear to be rather generic fantasy characters...and in fact, a lot of them appear to be the same archetype (with the exceptions of Robin and Chrom). In D&D terms, a lot of them are human fighters equipped with swords, and it's hard to tell what makes each one 'special' just by sort of looking at them. I haven't played Persona, but I can at least tell what makes Joker 'special' (he's a thief sort of character, something we don't much of in Smash).
Also, since the Fire Emblem series is somewhat niche in the west, it lacks the sort of nostalgia or iconography factor (to western eyes, that is), and I'd actually say that's the big sticking point. I've never played a FF game, but I can say that Cloud is popular just through pop cultural osmosis. With FE, I'm unfamiliar enough that it's even hard to congratulate FE fans, because I'm actually couldn't even say if the character is the one they wanted.
I should note, I'm not actually upset per se, I'm more like....very mildly disappointed. I’m having difficulty making myself care is the thing.
I will say that I like them using a lot of different weapons.

"Any campaign world where an orc samurai can leap off a landcruiser to fight a herd of Bulbasaurs will always have my vote of confidence"I hope that Claude's Spirit Battle has a lot of upside-down shenanigans.
Here are my guesses for the spirit fights:
- Dorothea- Female Robin because she's a mage, and she heals a little bit over time to reflect her ability.
- Ingrid- Lucina with a triple jump like the other Pegasus Knight spirits.
- Hilda- Zero Suit Samus maybe, due to the hairstyle, definitely with a sleep or slowing floor because she's a very lazy lady.
- Seteth- Ike with a Charizard since he's a wyvern rider with an ax.
- Edelgard- Female Byleth with the Edelgard skin that spams the ax move, with a flaming floor because of spoilers.
- Dimitri- Male Byleth with the Dimitri skin that spams the lance move, with increased attack power since he's a very strong guy.
- Claude- Male Byleth with the Claude skin that spams the bow move, with a screen flip every so often due to memes.
- Rhea- Palutena obviously, and Tiki comes in to assist her because of spoilery reasons.
- Sothis- Female Byleth, either the Sothis outfit or the fused form, with a sudden Final Smash ability.
I think Rhea is more likely to be Palutena who gets replaced with a giant white Charizard on death.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Continuing from the last page but for me despite how iconic Moogles are,I wouldn't make them a fighter,an assist makes more sense as traditionally they have been summons, A Chocobo would make an interesting fighter, hell awhile back I suggested that a potential Chocobo fighter use Yoshi's moves
New theme music also a boxIt is a bit ironic how FE has 8 characters, and none of them are villains, despite being easier to integrate into Smash than other franchise villains.
And no, that's not a request for a ninth character. I can't see anyone thinking that's a good idea outside of the 'lol luv ur salt' group.
-Witty line-Like the franchise or not, you can’t deny that Fire Emblem’s hurt a lot by the implicit “Game protagonists first” policy.
SoundCloudEnhanced Spirits of the House Lord trio! Their stats, colors, and skills alone are chock full of Mythology Gags and Fridge Brilliance, and we don't even know what their battles will involve yet! Allow me to geek out for a bit here. (Spoilers for both Three Houses and the Spirits themselves.)
Edelgard with Armor Knight and high Defense stat: After the Time Skip, she becomes an armored unit with high defenses but poor speed and movement, and she has only one Support slot since she's a loner and only seems to truly trust Byleth and Hubert. She's an Attack type since she's the instigator of the five year war, and red corresponds to Crimson Flower.
Dimitri with Hyper Smash Attacks and high Attack stat with a low Defense stat: In his home game, he has a ludicrous Strength stat but no sense of self restraint because he's also a Death Seeker, and his Crest of Blaiddyd grants enhanced Combat Arts. (There’s actually a Combat Art called Smash; go figure.) He's got two Support slots since, despite being distant and very emotionally unstable after the Time Skip, he will still open up to his allies during the course of his story path. He's a Shield type since his hatred for Edelgard leads to him relentlessly attacking her and the Empire (Shield beats Attack), and blue corresponds to Azure Moon.
Dimitri with Weapon Attack & Move Speed+ and balanced stats: He's got high Dexterity and Speed stats, and three Support slots since he's the least antagonistic and most neutral in the war. Grab Type completes the triad with the other two lords, and green corresponds to Verdant Wind.
Now I wonder what the other Spirits will hold. Sothis will be the Legend Support of the batch, so she'll most likely have a unique skill. What will it be, I wonder? Maybe something involving a Timer item effect since she’s a Time Master?
I've been diagnosed with Terminal Seven brain cancer.I'm not sure if "hurt" is how I would describe it.
Where there's life, there's hope. While I did say that I’m alright with Byleth being playable, I do think some of the issue that Fire Emblem has might be due to perception of the franchise in the west, seeing as how FE stayed in Japan for awhile.
I think a similar issue hit Hero as well.
And yes I think the other issues do apply somewhat (I don’t have an issue with sword users or the anime artstyled characters), but FE does get hurt by only main characters being playable in Smash.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!So the thing about the "anime swordfighter" argument - or rather, the idea that "[insert character here] would get complaints for being an anime swordfighter" is that... I always feel like that evolved from complaints about FE characters specifically, like people assumed that being "anime swordfighters" was the issue most complainers had with them (instead of just feeling this particular series was a bit overrepresented), kinda lumping them in with those who don't like this character type in general regardless of source (and while they do exist, they certainly don't seem as common - I can count on one hand the times I've seen people complain about "anime swordfighters"(or any equivalent wording) in general.)
And as someone who's on the side of "we have a bit too many FE characters, especially swordfighters" but who is ALSO wishing for a character who could be classified as "anime swordfighter" (and wouldn't mind most others) I sometimes feel a bit... weird about it? Like there's this slight implication that those who don't like the FE characters would be inherently opposed to any "anime"-ish character with a blade weapon.
Yeah, pretty much

"Leftover items still have value!"Considering how many people want Sora (and Dante I guess), it feels like the real complaint is "too many Fire Emblem characters."
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Correction: Sora is an anime person with a key .
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Key = Sword
If you get into...specifics.
But it's more like a blunt instrument...like a bat or something.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.A bat that can still cut things, somehow. Don't think about it too much.
As someone who has at least one sword(s) using anime guy on her list of hopefuls...yeah, the issue is more about how many of the Fire Emblem ones play so similarly. I don't remember too many complaints about anime swordsmen when Cloud got in.
The funny thing is that aside from Chrom and Lucina, the newer Fire Emblem characters they've added don't play much like the rest. People complain about Corrin being there, for example, but they have a cool moveset and don't play that much like any the other sword people.

Hero was the right choice for Dragon Quest, especially how they were implemented.
My only complaint is that Solo was chosen over Sofia.
This song needs more love.
