• Award Snub: Because it missed the 1 October 2018 filing deadline, the film was deemed ineligible for consideration for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature at the 91st Academy Awards; because it is still a 2018 film, it was also ineligible for the ceremony the following year.
• Harsher in Hindsight: The closing song, amongst the bawdiness, includes the lyric:
  Just blow your nose and dry your tears,
  We'll all be back in a few short years.
• Nausea Fuel: We get the privilege of seeing the effects of trench foot.
• Nightmare Fuel: A particularly chilling sequence fades from a closeup on a cheerful soldier laughing with a group of friends to what we slowly realize is the same man’s mangled corpse in a ditch. Then goes back and repeats the process for the next man. And the next. And the next…. War Is Hell indeed.
• Visual Effects of Awesome: This film creates a CGI overlay to the old footage that restores so much more than just the color. It becomes absolutely astonishing when you see just how far gone much of the film was. In some cases, it was almost totally washed out, totally black save for a few undefinable splotches of white. But then we see the process demonstrated, suddenly shapes and details begin to emerge from what appeared to be solid darkness. Within minutes, text is legible, people's faces are distinct and minute detail abounds across the scene. It's as close as one may come to a genuine Magical Computer in modern cinematography.
