YMMV / The Traveling Wilburys

Go To

  • Dancing Bear: As popular and acclaimed as their music may have been, they'll always be most famous for who their members were. Even if you've never heard a single one of their songs, it's easy to be gobsmacked by the sheer amount of talent in their lineup.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Listening to "End of the Line" and its musings about growing old gracefully feels much different now that three of its four lead vocalists have passed away.
    • Even more so since Orbison and Harrison, the first ones to pass, were the ones who specifically sang "We're going to the end of the line." Petty, meanwhile, had the bridge verses, which were sung against a background of "At the end of the line, of the line."
    • Even the image on the main page is this as Petty, Orbison and Harrison are all standing beside one another.
  • Heartwarming Moments: The Empty Chair Memorial for Roy Orbison in the video for "End of the Line". Naturally, this tribute occurs during the refrain sung by Orbison. (Begins at 1:40 in the video.)
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: "Tweeter and the Monkey Man".
  • Signature Song: "End of the Line" is generally agreed to be this, with "Handle With Care" as a contender.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: The original music video for "The Wilbury Twist" featured Milli Vanilli before their fall from grace.
