YMMV / The Living Wake

Go To

  • Crosses the Line Twice:
    • Basically every other word that comes out of K. Roth's mouth.
    • The scene where he accidentally crashes a funeral in particular comes to mind... or the scene where he goes to see a psychic... or the scene where he goes on a date with his former nanny.
    • Then the scene where he reads "Jack's Pants" mocks you for thinking there was ever a line in the first place.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: The psychic, the prostitute, and the librarian. They all get two scenes each—one of their own, and one when they all turn up at the wake—yet they are all impossibly beloved by the film's (small) fandom.
  • Ho Yay: K. Roth and Mills. You saw it. Don't act like you didn't.
  • Retroactive Recognition:
    • This movie came out a couple years before Jesse Eisenberg became known to the world as Columbus or Zuckerberg.
    • And the Librarian's actress, Ann Dowd, would became much better-known as Aunt Lydia a full decade later.
  • The Scrappy: K. Roth's mother and brother. Of course, you're not really supposed to like them.
  • The Woobie: Both K. Roth and Mills, though neither of them like to let on.
