• Abandon Shipping: Early in the story, the pairing of Mr. Friday and Reilly together was very popular, despite Mr. Friday's apparently being a psychopath. And then the audience was informed of both◊ characters'◊ ages. A vast chunk of the shippers for the pairing panicked and abandoned the ship. Quite a few did stick around, but the idea of a Jack/Reilly pairing is still a source of Squick for some readers, purely because of the age difference.
• Draco in Leather Pants: Louis occasionally gets this treatment from fans. Jack used to be a definitive example of it prior to his Character Development and the reveal of his Brainwashed and Crazy condition. It's pretty clear that, sociopath or brainwashed Woobie, Jack can do little to displease his fans.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Oscar, the barber who makes Sloppy Joes! He seems to serve no major purpose in the story but is extremely popular in the fandom.
• Love to Hate: The Doctor manages to get this treatment from many fans. His status as Knight of Cerebus as well as his politeness and intelligence may have helped him in this regard...
• Nightmare Fuel: The reveal of what is beneath the Doctor's cloak. Dear god.
  • And, more recently, we have this thing. Apparently, the Doctor's new minions are Body Horror-inflicted humans who have had their sense of self suppressed or overwritten. Aughhh, indeed!
• Viewer Gender Confusion: A mild example, but Reilly was subject to this during the first couple of chapters. A few people thought that she was a boy for a while - presumably because of her short hair, mostly flat chest, and her name (which can be used for both males and females.) Thanks to a combination of Art Evolution and Word of God though, this is no longer an issue.
• The Woobie: Mr. Porter. He was just a good, kind-hearted, psychiatrist who wanted to help his friend Sonia's family. And then he was brainwashed by his patient. This decent individual was forced to watch helplessly as his new persona, Mr. Friday, killed people for the sake of the Doctor's plans. He was unable to stop it for years and was even forced to watch helplessly as his brainwashed self killed Sonia, the woman he loved. He then met Reilly who unintentionally helped him snap out of it, but she found that she still hated him for all that he had done - justifiably so, from her perspective. It is still very easy to feel sorry for Jack on this page in particular. Reilly looks absolutely horrified at what he had to go through.
  • Also Sonia. She married a man who thought she was "beautiful" and with him had a son, Louis, whom she adored. Then it turned out that the man she had married, Mr. Friday, was extremely unhinged and had to see a psychiatrist - Jack Porter. Mr. Friday went all the way off the slippery slope and into madness, becoming the Doctor. He left Sonia and took Louis with him. Sonia was left with no idea where her family had gone and could only rely on Mr. Porter, who also happened to be an old friend of hers. And then Mr. Porter, the last person left for her to confide in, was brainwashed into killing her.
