- Most fans of Fripp's solo music are also fans of his band King Crimson.
- Fripp shares many fans with his longtime collaborator Brian Eno.
- Thanks to his collaborations with David Sylvian on Gone to Earth and The First Day, a sizable overlap exists between Sylvian's fanbase (and by extent Japan fans) and that of Fripp and King Crimson. It also helps that former Japan keyboardist Richard Barbieri is a member of fellow Progressive Rock band Porcupine Tree.
- Fripp's fandom often overlaps with Frank Zappa's due to the two artists' similarly uncompromising attitude towards their music as well as Adrian Belew's involvement with both. Likewise, Belew and Fripp's work with David Bowie creates a fair bit of overlap.
