YMMV / Nu, Pogodi! Kanikuly

Go To

  • Foe Yay Shipping: As sterile as the cartoon is, it still hasn't completely escaped this.
    • Episode 5 for instance, Volk tries to sneak into the ski resort by cradling Zayats in his arms, trying to pass him off as his child complete with coochie-coo noises. The ski resort technician is not having this, so he points to a sign which peculiarly illustrates Volk to not carry Zayats, but instead hold him by the hand. Ho Yay much?
    • The ending of Episode 6 has Zayats give Volk a chocolate bunny when he sees him looking lonely at the start of New Year. It's obviously for friendship reasons, but you never know.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: IA Panorama, a Russian News Parody website in the vein of The Onion, published an article claiming that comedian Garik Kharlamov would voice Volk in the new Nu, Pogodi!. Shortly after it was revealed that Kharlamov indeed voices Volk in the new series.
  • Memetic Mutation: Back in 2020 when the new characters were revealed, redrawing Ulya as a femboy or crossdresser became a trend on the Russian internet as a snide comment on the cartoon's perceived lack of research when designing her.
  • Popular with Furries: Ulya, thanks to her cute and colourful design as well as the memes surrounding her gender identity.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The switch to mostly CG animation, as well as targeting a much younger demographic has a lot of long-time fans reacting with disappointment at the cartoon's tamer and more modern take on a beloved classic. Notable people who are against the existence of a remake in the first place are one of the original creators and the Communists of Russia, the latter accusing the studio of appealing to nostalgia and even demanding that the studio be banned from making it. The original cartoons are just that beloved.
  • Trans Audience Interpretation: Ulya, despite being a doe, has horns, which led to some artists interpreting her as either transgender or intersex.
