YMMV / Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance

Go To

  • It's Easy, So It Sucks!: Most of the people that played the game have criticized it for its very poorly balanced and designed enemies that can be staggered to death.
  • Porting Disaster: The PC version of the Xbox platform has a tendency to crash if played in a group.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: The loot RNG is not affected by either difficulty or performance during Adventures, and it's always set to low-rarity so you only get white common and green uncommon loot even on the hardest difficulties. Fixed in a recent patch which actually made loot drop how it was supposed to.
  • So Bad, It's Good: The reveal trailer features camera angles so awkward they have to be seen to be believed, the characters attacking by flailing their limbs like they're in a Garry's Mod joke video. According to some comments, it was the most memorable trailer of the 2019 Game Awards show, albeit for all the wrong reasons.
  • Tainted by the Preview: The 2019 announcement trailer garnered negative reception for its rather off-looking presentation. The camera alternated between a first-person view and an awkward closeup on the character's faces, which, combined with the fast-paced action, came off as rather dizzying and hard to follow. It didn't help that the animations were noticeably janky and incomplete, which came off as extremely goofy-looking.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: A game starring Drizzt and his more notable companions did have potential to be a decent adaption of the books or even an original story entirely. However, many fans of the books feel that the game failed to properly utilize its source material. Some even argue that the game could have used an original set of generic stock characters and not much would have changed.
