• Harsher in Hindsight: From "Gangsta's Paradise", the verse "Death ain't nothing but a heartbeat away" becomes this after Coolio's death in September 2022, reportedly due to cardiac arrest.

  • The choir singing from "Gangsta's Paradise" is commonly dubbed on YouTube to videos of characters screaming.
  • "Coolio was okay with [X], but not Weird Al?" ^Explanation It's a common reaction online for people to express their bemusement that Coolio, who infamously got angry at "Weird Al" Yankovic for parodying "Gangsta's Paradise" as "Amish Paradise" because of what he saw as trivializing the song's serious message, had seemingly no qualms about doing or approving things that are arguably sillier than a Weird Al parody, such as appearing in Batman & Robin and Leprechaun in the Hood, doing the Kenan & Kel theme song, having a recurring guest role in Futurama as the Kwanzaa Bot, allowing "Gangsta's Paradise" to be used in the Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) trailer, and appearing in the video for Falling in Reverse's "Gangsta's Paradise" cover.
• Sampled Up: Nowadays, people are more likely to know "Gangsta's Paradise" than the song it interpolated (Stevie Wonder's "Pastime Paradise").

• Tear Jerker: "Gangsta's Paradise" is a somber, haunting song about the harsh realities of life in the ghetto, how innocent lives are lost in senseless violence, how family bonds are strained to the breaking point and how the survivors are forced to desensitize themselves only to continue the cycle. Special mention goes to when it was combined with the original "Pastime Paradise" ^note  which sings the flaws of materialism and negative attitudes which may have contributed to the so-called "gangsta" lifestyle by Stevie Wonder during the 1995 Billboard Awards, which amplifies the pain far too many black people have suffered.
