  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Is the "alternate timeline" where The Kid is another version of Henry actually real, or is he the Devil Lacey thought him to be and he's lying to Molly?
    • Season 2 pretty much confirms that he's not an alternate Henry Deaver but a monstrous Dimension Traveler and establishes (or at least hints) to the existence of other worlds; it just raises the question of whether or not he's lying about that particular timeline existing.
  • Award Snub: Lizzy Caplan was widely praised for her portrayal of Annie Wilkes but her only nomination came from the IGN Summer Movie Awards rather than the more prestigious Golden Globes or Emmys.
  • Captain Obvious Reveal: About the only way you wouldn't see Pop's secret being he killed Abdi and Nadia's mother is if you thought it was way too obvious for so much building up.
  • Crosses the Line Twice:
    • The couple who buy a house several murders occurred in seem to get possessed by the same murderous spirit...except this doesn't actually make them much good at it, so they struggle to clean up their first victims, and upon attacking Henry the wife manages to seriously stab both her husband and herself.
    • Annie’s murder of Ace Merrill, shoving a plastic ice cream scoop down his throat, and then having to jump on his chest to get it back out.
  • Genius Bonus: Annie Wilkes’ beloved song “Let the River Run” comes from a film full of her hated “dirty birds and paper fakes.”
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: When Molly goes to meet with her dealer in "Severance", he jokingly calls her a MILF. She retorts "You need kids to be a MILF." The first season aired while Molly's actress was pregnant with her first child.
  • Nightmare Fuel: A happy family celebrating their kid's birthday suddenly descends into the parents despising and trying to kill each other. All because The Kid slipped into their house unseen for a minute. The son and baby are not harmed, and the mother is concerned for her children, but it is still just as horrifying as it all plays out nonetheless.
  • Tear Jerker: The death of Pangborn in "The Queen".
