YMMV / Buffy the Vampire Slayer S1E12 "Prophecy Girl"

• Awesome Music: The show's theme starts playing when Buffy, Xander and Angel go after the Master and it's badass.
• Growing the Beard: Some cite this as where the series hit its stride, as it was the first episode to really deal with bravery and explore the impact such a great destiny had on what was essentially a scared teenage girl.
• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • Xander says to Buffy, "I want to dance with you". His wish comes true when Buffy dances sexily with him in "When She Was Bad", but not in the way he'd like.
  • Buffy tells Angel he is never going to die. In "Becoming, Part 2", not only does Angel indeed "die" (actually, gets sucked into a hell dimension), but it's by Buffy's hand.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Xander jokes about the idea of Willow being attracted to Buffy. Willow comes out as a lesbian in later seasons.
• Ho Yay: While walking in the sewers together, Xander yells at Angel for staring at his neck.
• Narm:
  • When Angel tells Xander that he can't give Buffy CPR because he has no breath, David Boreanaz delivers the line while winded and panting for breath.
  • To say nothing of how common it is for vampires to talk on this show. Which requires exhaling.
    • Some Angel fans have argued that he simply didn't know enough about medical treatment and biology to really understand how CPR and his own physiology worked, making him ignorant rather than stupid.
• She Really Can Act: Buffy's breakdown after learning she's destined to die fighting the Master is one of Sarah Michelle Gellar's best moments in the series.
