YMMV / Buddy Thunderstruck

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: In "Buddy Double", Buddy accidentally crashes through Mr. Weaselbrat's house. Buddy says that he made a "dang nice hole", but then Darnell butts in and says that it's a "dang great hole". It could might as well be about buttholes out of context.
  • Awesome Ego: Buddy Thunderstruck, charismatic, charming, and full of ego, but also has room for others and his heart is in the right place.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Deputy Hoisenberry seems to have gained quite a following because of his adorable design, voice and personality. The fact that he's basically a police officer version of Tony Tony Chopper adds to this.
  • Ho Yay: People were already shipping Buddy with Darnell by the time the series was a month old. The fact that they're best friends who live and work together, nor can live without each other, only adds fuel to the fire.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Sheriff Cannonball. True, he has a massive Hair-Trigger Temper but Buddy is always doing things to push his buttons.
  • Moe: Every character can qualify due the show's cute felt-plush style but the best example would be little and innocent Hoisenberry, with Buddy's kind and humble voice of reason Darnell in close second.
  • Spiritual Successor: RebelTaxi once referred to this as the closest we'll ever get to an animated version of Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
  • Squick: The pizza that the beavers delivered were actually made from wood chips.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Absolutely nothing is done with Muncie's Secret Identity as Flossie Trophydash.
  • Villain Has a Point: According to Big Tex, "[he] gives people money so they can buy some fancy stuff. If [he] doesn't get the money back, [he takes] that fancy stuff, instead." If Big Tex is telling the whole truth, then his clients are overstaying their unpaid loans. Big Tex actually has the right to repossess the value of the loans if his clients do not pay in time, even if he relies on Robby Burgles' deceit, threats, and thievery. Other than "Big Tex's clients feel bad when they have their stuff repossessed," the only compelling reason the episode gave was Muncie claiming that Big Tex forced his "clients" into bad deals. Big Tex may be a Loan Shark, but we do not know what are his actual interest rates or payment periods.
  • The Woobie: Mr. Weaselbrat is effectively turned into this in "A Bro For Weaselbrat". His social awkwardness constantly causes him to alienate others and he winds up feeling hurt, rejected and on the verge of tears. It's hard not to want to hug the poor guy after so much rejection.
