YMMV / Bones and All (2022)

Go To

  • Award Snub: Bones and All was directed by Luca Guadagnino, stars Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet, won two awards at the Venice Film Festival (Best Young Actor or Actress for Russell and Best Director for Guadagnino), and earned good reviews, with a Certified Fresh 82% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The Actor Shipping between "TnT" (Taylor and Timothée) also helped the film generate lots of buzz online. Despite being so high-profile and well-received, this film got zero nominations from any of the big awards, like the BAFTAs, Golden Globes, SAG Awards, or Oscars.
  • Awesome Music: The official trailer for the movie is set to the insanely well-fitting Creepy Awesome song "You Want It Darker" by Leonard Cohen.
  • Nausea Fuel: Every single instance of cannibalism of course! If you made it past the incredibly graphic Fingore in the first ten minutes of the movie, congratulations. People don't call it the most disgusting film of 2022 for nothing, and this was the same year that Terrifier 2 came out.
  • Love to Hate: Sully is creepy as hell even before he cruelly lashes out at Maren, but Mark Rylance plays him to perfection and makes all of his creepy quirks and Faux Affably Evil nature work as well as they must.
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: It's extremely difficult to argue that Sully is significantly worse than either of the two main characters. If anything, he comes across as somewhat less evil, because he at least tries to eat people who are already dead or dying.
