Teachers are People is a 1952 short cartoon starring Goofy. Here, Goofy is a schoolteacher who must educate a class full of unruly schoolchildren.

Tropes:

  • Apple for Teacher: Goofy has his students hand him apples as a homework assignment, and he is miffed when he catches George the class delinquent eating his homework. Later, he is seen eating the apples for lunch while his students are at recess.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Many of the children in Goofy's class have shown some mischief, but George takes the cake, doing things like trying to play hooky from school, eating the apple meant for his teacher, terrorizing other kids with a water pistol, and squeaking chalk on the blackboard.
  • Bubblegum Popping: A boy named John blows a large bubble with his gum and gets it all over his face.
  • The Bully: Besides being a Bratty Half-Pint, George bullies one of his fellow classmates into giving him the answer to a spelling question by pointing a (water) pistol at his head.
  • Covered in Gunge: During arts and crafts, George sprays red paint all over while painting, getting some of it all over Goofy's clothes.
  • Crying Critters: As the kids board the school bus, their dogs sit on the bus stop, shedding tears at being left behind.
  • Double Take: During the greeting song, Goofy notices that someone spelled "teacher" wrong on the blackboard. Then, he gives off a double take upon seeing the caricature accompanying it.
  • "Kick Me" Prank: As Goofy cleans up the school at the end of the day, we see that he has gotten a "Kick Me" sign on his butt without even realizing it.
  • Luminescent Blush: When Goofy overhears some kids having a private conversation, his whole face turns bright red as he proceeds to tear away a chart that shows birds, bees, and flowers.
  • Nails on a Chalkboard: George uses chalk to make squeaking noises on a chalkboard just to annoy Goofy. At the end of the short, after George is sentenced to Writing Lines for bombing the school, he does it again.
  • Squirrels in My Pants: A boy named Winston drops a frog into the dress of a girl named Margery, who reacts accordingly.
  • Stern Teacher: Goofy quickly proves himself a no-nonsense teacher, especially to George.
  • Tormented Teacher: Goofy serves as this to an unruly class, at one point donning an umpire's outfit as he's about to charge into the fray.
  • Writing Lines: After George has blown up the school, he is sentenced to write "I will not bomb the school again" multiple times. He again uses this opportunity to torment a disheveled Goofy by squeaking the chalk.
  • You Have Failed Me: Non-fatal example; George squirts his fellow classmate with a water pistol when he learns that said classmate spelled "cat" wrong.
