Go To

Ryan Defrates: Secret Agent is an animated series that can be found on Youtube in its entirety.

Ryan Defrates is a member of Freedom International, an organization that seeks to clamp down on international thuggery. While his bravery and skill are unquestioned, his ability to work with others and his ego make him increasingly a liability. The head of the organization forces him with an unlikely partner: his own mother. Will the mother-son crime duo not only solve crime but help Ryan grow as a person?

‘’Ryan Defrates:Secret Agent’’ contains the following examples:

  • Action Mom: Mrs. Defrates whose rational approach to challenging situations makes her a valuable agent despite her previous lack of field work.
  • Adults Are Useless: Averted. Mrs. Defrates, despite not having any previous experience, becomes a valuable ally to her son because of her cautious approach.
  • Internal Reveal: Mrs. Defrates had no idea that her son was involved in any kind of special agent activity.
  • I Work Alone: Defrates invokes this, rejecting teamwork and any admonishments because of his own arrogance and belief in his own superiority.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Ryan Defrates is an abrasive person who has no problems voicing his opinion, no matter how rude he is. He’s also an arrogant field agent who believes he’s so skilled that he doesn’t need a partner and could be really rude to his coworkers, and he is not even immune to being rude to his mother. Despite this, he’s never malicious or cruel, genuinely cares about catching criminals, and cares about his loved ones like his mother and coworkers. He would also be willing to admit that he’s wrong, and then he realizes he’s gone too far and will apologize.
  • Kid Hero: Ryan Defrates, who is roughly high school and is already working as a professional secret agent.
  • Nice Guy: Deb Defrates is shown to be a kind and caring woman, treats everyone she meets with respect, cares about her friends and family, and is shown to be a good mother to her son. While she is quick to call out her son for his arrogance and mean attitude, it is clear that she wants him to learn to be a better person. She’s also dedicated to her secret agent job and protecting people.
  • Older Than They Look: Deb Defrates looks like a normal middle-aged woman with a teenage son. But then, in episode six, The Towering Turkey, it is revealed that she has a married adult daughter with two grandchildren who look to be 10 or 11 years old. That would put her age in the 40s or 50s when she looks young enough to be in her early 30s.
  • Practically Different Generations: The 6 episode, The Towering Turkey, revealed that Ryan has an older sister who is married with children who look to be 10 or 11 years old. While the older sister and Ryan’s exact age has not been revealed, since the sisters are adults and Ryan looks to be in his teen years, it’s an educated guess that the sister must’ve been a teenager when Ryan was born.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Defrates and his mom often struggle to work together because of his own arrogance and innate desire
