...and a trio of heroic hedgehogs.

Children's Play and Teen's Play are two intertwined ongoing comic series made by Liyu Conberma, who is also known for her work on Maria's First Christmas.

The main synopsis of the story follows two trios of hedgehogs; Sonic, Shadow and Silver, each from paralleling dimensions. While in the original dimension, the trio are simply acquaintances, in the world of Cosium, they are younger and are direct siblings to one another. An accident in Cosium causes both trios to end up warping to each other's dimension respectively, and the cast of each one need to work out how to resolve the issue before things fly south.

The prologue to both stories can be read here. All current strips for Children's Play can be read here. All current strips and info for Teen's Play and Cosium can be read here.

The webcomic series contains the following examples:

  • Art Evolution: As the comic strips go on, the art style becomes more detailed and refined.
  • Berserk Button: Once Darren tries to hold Shadow's hand in order to give him, Sonic and Silver a tour of Cosium's castle, Shadow angrily slaps him away, though quickly apologises due to it being because of Darren's Third Eye giving him uneasy flashbacks to Black Doom.
  • Big Brother Instinct: When his siblings get sucked through Trails's portal, Cosium Sonic willingly lets go of Trails to go after them and ensure their safety. Likewise, once they're there, Cosium Shadow is quick to defend his siblings from what he initially saw as complete strangers.
  • Canon Immigrant: Jules and Bernadette from Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie Comics) are fully instated and clear to be Sonic's parents in this continuity.
  • Children Are Innocent: The SSS from Cosium fit this well, having ended up in the canon dimension by accident and trying to adjust to their surroundings.
  • Freak Out: Trails undergoes one once he realizes exactly what had happened with the SSS.
  • Halloween Episode: One was designed to tie in with the comics, but was never finished. The Cosium SSS don't seem to find the idea of the Halloween tradition of trick-or-treating appealing, instead preferring the tradition THEY have back home around that time of year.
  • Have We Met?: Sapphire gets this feeling when examining the Mobian SSS, though Darren is quick to reassure them otherwise.
  • Mama Bear:
    • Bernadette demonstrates this quite a bit throughout the Children's Play strand of the series, being understandably on edge with her son trailing along with Shadow to get Silver back home. She's also quickly furious when she thinks Sonic is in danger thanks to Shadow, which is quelled once she sees the Cosium SSS for the first time. After that, she promises (alongside Jules and Chuck) to look after the siblings until they can be sent back home safely.
    • Likewise, in the Teen's Play strand, Sapphire (the mother of the Cosium SSS) is quick to express her concerns about her children's safety, forcing Darren and Trails to try and improvise to prevent her and Kaze from knowing the truth for now.
  • Mythology Gag: In Issue 1 of Teen's Play, the Mobian SSS are told to assume identities away from their actual names for the sake of Kaze and Sapphire. Shadow dubs himself "Terios" (a callback to his original concept from Sonic Adventure 2), Silver takes the name "Venice" (his original concept name), and Sonic uses his middle name from the comics, Maurice (which he quickly regrets saying shortly after).
