Note: You may be looking for the base 5e Dungeons & Dragons setting known as The Forgotten Realms. This page is about The Forgotten Realms as they appear in Nat19 specifically.

The Forgotten Realms Campaigns featured in Nat19. The Dungeon Master for most of these campaigns is Aaron Robert Parnell, with the sole exception being Tomb of Annihilation, which was DM'd by Spencer Downs. It is worth noting that the Tomb of Annihilation campaign takes place in a separate continuity from the other campaigns on this page.

    Tropes featured in multiple campaigns
  • Back from the Dead: Many characters die and are brought back by various magics available to them.
  • Childhood Friends: Kyra Volcora and Eurybia Maelstrom have been friends since the former was 9 years old. Eurybia taught her how to use magic, and the two became best friends from there.
  • Death by Origin Story: Ajisai Kuroyuri's mother was killed by elemental cultists in a raid on their temple, Hadrick Kainwind's old captain was possessed by a demon and was subsequently put down by Hadrick, and most of Torrin Ghesh's family were all killed save for his brother.
  • Elemental Powers: Alyf's monastic tradition allowed her to wield earth, fire, water, and air, granting her enhanced combat prowess and greater defense and mobility. The elemental cults in the Princes of the Apocalypse campaign also utilize their respective elements to achieve their goals, even summoning elementals to aid them.
  • I Will Find You: Since her first appearance, Kyra Volcora's mission was to find her missing best friend, Eurybia Maelstrom.
  • Regretful Traitor: When Graiar's assumed father, Griff, attempts to kidnap his friends and a fight ensues, Graiar chooses to leave with Griff so as to not be forced to kill him. He later comes to regret this decision when he realizes he cannot convince Griff to betray his master, Strahd von Zarovich. Similarly, when Torrin Ghesh was made to choose between allying with his brother, Dazzan Ghesh, or continuing to aid his new friends, he chose to team with his brother against them. He immediately came to regret this choice when two of his three friends were killed by his brother.
  • True Companions: Many characters in these campaigns have formed strong bonds with the people fighting by their side against all odds.

  • Assassins Are Always Betrayed: As a child, Graiar was taken in by an elven nobleman who discreetly raised him to be an assassin. When Graiar refused to kill a particular target for him, the nobleman sicced the city guard on him, nearly resulting in his death.
  • Lady and Knight (Double Subverted): Hadrick Kainwind insists for ages that he is merely a guard doing is duty to protect Jolyne, even going so far as to push Monty (a much more archetypal Knight in Shining Armor than Hadrick) as Jolyne's defender. Later on, Hadrick dubiously declares himself King of Barovia so he may stand on equal terms with Jolyne.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Griff, an aarakocra assassin working under Strahd von Zarovich, is eventually revealed to be the presumed father of fellow aarakocra assassin Graiar.
  • Rebellious Princess: Jolyne Felicity Brioche, the 3rd princess of Neverwinter, runs away from an arranged marriage to seek a life of adventure.

  • Fire/Water Juxtaposition: Kyra Volcora is a fire genasi, and her best friend Eurybia Maelstrom is a water genasi. Each of them has innate magical abilities corresponding to their element.
  • Gladiator Games: When Alyf was captured by her former owner, Dai Li, he forced her to participate in an underground, gladiatorial arena against both man and beast.
  • Opposites Attract: Reagan Ailyss is a calm, sweet, levelheaded, and motherly person in-tune with the natural magics of the world, while Ajisai Kuroyuri is energetic, chaotic, blunt, reckless, and doesn't understand magic at all. Despite this, the two are deeply in love with one another.
