WMG / The Willoughbys

The Willoughby parents’ names really are ‘Mother’ and ‘Father’

Why else would they call each other that when they clearly have no interest in being parents?

The Cat is one of the Mao Clan's ancestors.

This fits perfectly with the "Mao Mao is set in the distant future" WMG. I know that The Cat is blue and not black, but come on, his voice sounds like he'd fit PERFECTLY in with the Mao Clan!

The Willoughby family paintings and artifacts were NOT destroyed along with the house
I mean, if the Willoughbys were really as significant of a family as they were described, a museum could have easily bought the artifacts before the demolition.

The Willoughby parents are actually Kissing Cousins or Brother–Sister Incest
And Mrs And Mr Willoughby find the twins Creepy.

The Willoughby Parents actually survive the shark attack...
...But this lead them to be seperated each other by accident and get trapped and stuck in two tiny, lonely islands with no way to communicate each other. This count as a Fate Worse than Death because the Willoughby parents only loved each other and cannot stand if they got separated. Imagine them trying to find a way to reunited each other for many years but end up failing which cause them to lose their sanity.

The Willoughby Family Ancestors were not actually as great as Tim thinks they were.
Anyone knows that just because a person can be a famous figure doesn't mean that its indicative of whether they are a good person or not. At many points, Tim attributes traits to the Willoughbys that are quite negative (he claims early in the movie that abandoning the baby and being "ruthless" are traits that the family must follow, which he clearly learned from his parents who have already abandoned their own kids emotionally). Perhaps the Willoughby bloodline did accomplish amazing feats and have great mustaches, but behind closed doors were emotionally negligent or abusive towards each other in ways that are not obvious to an outsider's perspective. Eventually, this cycle of abuse culminated in the current Mr. Willoughby, who is just as narcissistic and self-absorbed as his ancestors but has none of the accomplishments to back it up. After all, how could anybody raised by loving accomplished parents end up as self absorbed and lame as the current heads of the Willoughby household?
