Anyone knows that [[VillainWithGoodPublicity just because a person can be a famous figure doesn't mean that its indicative of whether they are a good person or not.]] At many points, Tim attributes traits to the Willoughbys that sound quite negative (he claims early in the movie that abandoning a baby and being "ruthless" are traits that the family must follow, which he clearly learned from his parents). Perhaps the Willoughbys ''were'' great people who accomplished amazing things, [[BitchInSheepsClothing but behind closed doors were emotionally negligent towards each other or abusive in ways that are not super obvious to an outside perspective.]] Eventually, this cycle of abuse culminated in the current Mr Willoughby, who is just as narcissistic and self-absorbed as his ancestors but has none of the accomplishments to back it up and perpetuates the cycle of mistreatment before it is broken by his children. After all, how could anybody raised by loving accomplished parents end up as self absorbed and lame as the current heads of the Willoughby household?
* Tim idolizes the Willoughby line for being generations of amazing individuals, but he doesn't actually know any of them personally, has been locked up in a single house with only his immediate family and a library of books to go off of, and doesn't have the best reference of what a healthy family is ''supposed'' to look like, anyway. The library of books may have retellings of the Willoughby's accomplishments, but also, historical books can be chock-full of inaccuracies and biases, and, if a Willoughby were writing a book and were half as self-absorbed as the current Willoughby parents, than they would never divulge if any abuse was happening within the family.

[[WMG: The Willoughby family paintings and artifacts were NOT destroyed along with the house]]
I mean, if the Willoughbys were really as significant of a family as they were described, a museum could have easily bought the artifacts before the demolition.

This fits perfectly with the "Mao Mao is set in the distant future" WMG. I know that [[https://celebritycovernews.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/ccelebritieswilloughbys-cat-880x660.jpg The Cat is blue and not black]], but come on, his voice sounds like he'd fit PERFECTLY in with the Mao Clan!
