Wild Mass Guessing pages are Spoilers Off. You Have Been Warned.

The contestants will all become friends by the end of the story
  • Half-Confirmed. The contestants were surprised, but pleased when they saw Mike return for the show, but he didn't return when the theatre was saved.
  • Neither Rosita or Gunter seemed too happy when Mike came back.
Only one of the main characters will win the competition, but all of them will have their subplots resolved as a result.
We know we have about five main characters: Rosita the pig, Ash the porcupine, Mike the mouse, Meena the elephant, and Johnny the gorilla, each with their own subplot about a personal problem (e.g. Meena overcoming her stage fright, and Johnny needing the money to bail his father, as well as his desire to pursue singing instead of being a member of his father's gang). So, instead of the cliche "everyone's a winner" ending, only one of them will win the overall competition, but that one character's victory will have an influence on the other characters' lives that somehow allows all of them to be happy.
  • Half-Jossed. The theatre was destroyed and the contestants help Buster Moon raise money for the rebuilding.

Mrs. Crawley works for Buster for free.
Think about it. Buster is heavily in debt to the bank, his paychecks to his stagehands all bounce, and he's barely able to scrape together $1,000 for the (intended) contest prize. So how could he possibly afford to pay her? Well, judging by how loyal Mrs. Crawley is to him, even still working for him after the theatre's destroyed and he's reduced to washing cars, it's seems likely that she's perfectly willing to work for free. Also, judging by her advanced age, she's probably getting by on social security/welfare or the local equivalent.

It's only Buster Moon's stage shows that went awry.
Look at the shelf on his desk and you'll notice a number of awards, including one that's shaped like a microphone. It's possible that the man genuinely has talent, and built up a good reputation in other areas, he just has problems running a theater. And given the really low number of stage shows that actually turn a profit in reality, that's not hard to do, even without Buster's outlandish pitches. It almost seems with some of them like he's trying to expand into movies .

Nana takes the once-finalists under her wing.
She's so blown away by the talent on Buster's ad hoc stage show she rebuilds the theater from the ground up. There's some suggestion she also put up the prize money Buster lacked, but a far more lucrative option - for them and for her - would be to get them agents and get them on the in-universe version of Broadway. As hard-shelled and cynical as she is, she'd also probably be an excellent mentor to (most) of them. Can you imagine an in-universe version of Hamilton with this group headlining? She probably can.

Buster was well aware of Ash's sarcasm.
Buster seems oblivious to Ash's sarcastic comments when he recommends Call Me Maybe, but in reality he just brushed them off as he was trying to encourage her. During the audition, Ash sang backup vocals, and Lance was obviously the one in charge of their group. Buster was trying to draw her out of that shell by offering her a song with a female lead vocal and few if any male vocals backing to avoid having her fall back on Lance for help. He just couldn't find a song like that in a genre she liked. Her nailing the 2 lines that she did showed him that she was coming into her own and he made sure to encourage her as best he could.

Mike and Nancy died after the events of movie
Given that the last time they're seen on screen is when they're escaping from the bear mafia, and one of the bears is still holding on the the back of the car, and plus the fact that Mike doesn't appear at the theater re-opening, this seems believable.
  • Hopefully jossed. Seth MacFarlane is listed on IMDB's listing for Sing 2, which may indicate that Mike will return.
